Hi Michael... I'm really enjoying your tying tutorials, it goes to show that words are not needed for good instruction! I like the way you show us the packaging of the material you're using next with a pause for a couple of secs. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!! :)) Ann
Every time I start a muskie fly, I tell myself I won't stack so heavy. Then I end up stacking a fly like you've never seen before; I really need to stop that. Very nice fly, the illusion of bulk is there, no need for excessive materials.
Thanks... I know that feeling of wanting to put more stuff on a fly - but you are right sometimes less is more. And a bulky fly can be a pain to cast, so I prefer getting the profile with as few materials as possible. Tight lines, Michael :0)
Thanks a lot for your feedback. Glad you and your local pike like my Nightwatchman. You can see more about the fly and some pike fishing on my blog. All the best, Michael :0) michaeljensens.com/angling/?p=1804
Michael Jensen just a question, what material do you make you dubbing with? I make my dubbing with wool, and a couple kinds of artificials but yours look like wool, am i right ?
You are on the right track. My dubbing is made from super fine textured natural wool - spiced up with a bit of flashy synthetics. The precise recipe is my secret ;0)
Hi Michael, great fly. I really love black/purple pike flies and so do the pike in my area. Have you ever tried using a slicker comb for brushing out the dubbing head? I use them when I make brushes for flies and I started using one for 'untangling' dubbing heads. Works a treat!
Hi Jeroen. That's a great idea. I actually use a pair of those for producing my dubbing, but I haven't tried them out for fly tying. Will do, though. Thanks for the tip. Cheers, Michael :0)
Thanks a lot, Erik. I get my fly tying stuff from several Danish shops - most of them has webshops as well. Here is a link to a couple of shops, that probably has all the materials for this fly: www.flytying.eu www.profisk.dk Best wishes, Michael :0)
Billo, That should not be a problem. I mostly use a 9 ft #7 rod - and sometimes a 9 ft. #8 for this fly. Both handle it just fine. Tight lines, Michael
The blend of colours and the movement in this fly make it a sure fire killer.Great fly great video, awesome tying.
Thanks a lot Speysider 1962. Tight lines, Michael :0)

where can I buy this? it looks amazing and a real piece of art. I simply would not have the skill to tie this.
Hi Andrew, thanks a lot. I don't sell flies though - but I'm sure you can pull this of. It is a rather easy tie. Tight lines, Michael :0)

thanks so much , this fly is superlative!! TOP!
Michael Jensen sell this fly?
Thanks for asking, but sorry no... i don't sell flies. Not currently at least. You will have to tie it yourself :0) Tight lines, Michael
Michael Jensen ok boss , i follow your channel and i will try to make this fly
I would love to fish it after Pike in shallow water. So you can see the Pike inhale the fly.
It's always cool to see the attack - especially when you target pike or large predatory trout. Tight lines :0)
Спасибо!
You are welcome :0)
