- Had to put this up! Have seen the videos where Mark Kibble is singing the lead, and he sounds very good up front, too! But, I love hearing Al Jarreau singing lead even moreso. He does a spectacular job up there, and Take 6 are killing it in the background! I just love this rendition, and was hoping someone else would put it up, but I got tired of waiting! So, here it is, hope you enjoy:)
Al Jarreau gone but not forgotten 😢
I never heard this by Take-6 & i really miss the music of Al Jarreau great 🎶 R.I.P. A.J.
Loucura!!!
Please note that it's Jon Hendrick's voice that comes in first! Then Al Jareau's.
I come close to TEARS every time I hear Til Bronner solo in this track... #NotFair
yes, this is a wonderful version of the tune -- magic between Take 6 & Al Jarreau!
Perfection. So much talent packed in this. Pure magic.
My God! Has anyone transcribed the lyrics and the vocalese by any chance?
Though I don't listen to this song that often (to keep myself from getting tired of it), I am always wowed by how good of a job they do performing it. First off, they perform it at a high speed (the singing and the harmonizing, just comes at you very fast!), and they do what they do so well! Glad that I don't listen to this that often, so I'll continue to be blown away by it:)
Seven steps... is a sensational composition, this singing is thrilling
Vocal virtuosity at it's apex!
Never took the time to notice that before. Thanks for the heads-up:)
#JazzVocals #GrammyNominee
They did a wonderful job.
I wish the lyrics for this were somewhere on the internet.
great....i love al jarreau
Incredible trumpet (or is it flugel?) solo from Till Bronner. His sound is so mellow that you can't tell if it's trumpet or flugel!
Great song........and Til you sounds wonderful....hope we get the chance to catch up......it's been a long time!
Well, since you've brought it up, I can hear "Giant Steps" all through this now! But, the singers in Take 6 are Jazz enthusiasts, so I can see that song influencing them while they were putting this one together. Still, thanks for bringing that up:)
This is a Miles Davis song I think Coltrane played on the original take 6 sung the chords that was already written
It's a flugelhorn that Till Bronner is playing here:)
never cease to amaze me..wow
@jarbon5 And took me another month to check it back... ;-) Thank you for the reply. God, they sound so nice together!
I did enjoy! Thank you jarbon5 for posting this :-)
Who's playing the brass? (is it flugelhorn?)
Sorry it took so long to get back to you, but the person on the horn is German flugelhornist Till Brönner:)
thanks again Kjazz for giving me some sick tunes!
R.I.P LEGEND
R.I.P. Al Jarreau: "King of Scat".
Yes they do:)
Браво Господа!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's the flugelhorn that Till Bronner is playing. If you need to verify this, you should be able to easily find info. about him playing it in this particular song:)
wonderful. thank you for posting. who is at the trumpet? very nice too.
@poloppilo Thanx for the info! They sound great together.
Magic indeed:)
Nice arrangement
I finally found it!
That isn't a trumpet, that's a flugelhorn, as played by Till Bronner (I thought it was a trumpet, too, at first):)
great....
The only way that would be a trumpet is if it was the Dizzy Gillespie trumpet. Only that and flugelhorns carry that type of sound
Who sang the solo in 1:00??????
I've found it. Thank you very much anyway ..
DOUD..
a bit of influence from Giant Steps in this piece
Jean Lemeau Miles and Coltrane was tight so I can see the Giant steps influence check out Miles
@mixhoneymix Till Brönner
now i saw the poste, thanks - till brönner. and of course, sounds more than a flugelhorn..
some parts are a bit much bare!! sick shit happening on that side!!
Unfortunately this needs so much education to be enjoyable :( most ppl are happy when they know what's the C-Major-scale.
