So people forget there’s a huge central area in California known as the Central Valley and it suuuuucks. It gets hotter than Texas, however it is dry, it’s mostly ag and manufacturing industries, it is extremely conservative and there is nothing fun to do. You have to travel hours to go to the forests or beaches, and traveling with those gas prices and hotel costs… forget about it. I left California because I couldn’t afford the lifestyle I wanted, to live in a metro area. Yes, California is beautiful if you can afford it but Texas is still a bigger bang for your buck.

@luism261 all of California is dry, in comparison to anywhere people live in TX. I'm not the one who said TX was dry, I questioned it. The only exception in TX is West Texas where barely anyone lives (save for El Paso) that has similar dryness to CA.

I grew in Texas and moved to California for college and stayed. The weather is pretty amazing... we complain when it moves to the upper 80's and it's amazing that you can surf in the morning and snowboard in the afternoon. It's truly diverse. I moved from Texas because I experienced a lot of racism growing up. Today, when I visit family, it does feel less, but in the small towns I grew up, I still don't feel completely comfortable. We had people come by our house and yelled racist comments to being bullied in public. I'm hopeful people become more tolerant and accepting, and again, I think is has gotten better.
