The sunrise in Tikal is epic. I was in Tikal almost 30 years ago and can still remember the howler monkeys and the incredibly exhausting heat very well. We travelled from Guatemala City to Tikal in a rickety bus. It was a hell of a trip but well worth the stress, Tikal is so great. Thank you so much for bringing back these memories in such great pictures. Imagine, back then I only had an analogue camera.
Me too! I was there a mere 20 years ago 😂 but was worried Nicole & Mico would say this was too touristy. Sooo pleased to see it's retained its magic. I slept at the park in a hammock to set off for sunrise - I wonder if you still can. Gives you an extra hour in bed. And agree, the sound of those howler monkeys is like nothing else.
Hi I'm glad that you guys have a good time really I appreciate your comments about my country I'm very proud of it and see and hear other people's talk good things make me feel happy thank you so much 💗
Hi guys! Im guatemalan (specifically from Flores) have been following for a while and just wanted to clear some points in your video. So about Flores, its the "cabecera departamental" or capital "city" from Peten department, and its actually quite big! It starts from the island all the way to the Mexico border to the north but because much of it is protected forest it is very scarcely populated Now about the lake, TLDR its a cyclic flooding, every 50 or so years the lake grows and takes over a big portion of the island and it lasts quite a few years too. My mom experience the last flooding when she was a child all the way to her teenage years. The lake receded and when i was a child you could walk everywhere and maybe some 10 years ago it started flooding again! So yeah its normal ish but as you could guess climate change its affecting this cycle too Edit. The region youre referencing is mesoamerica, Look it up its a really fascinating historical region Sorry for the long ass coment but Ive noticed you're really respectful of the places you visit and like reading up on them, thats why I've been following you! Great content as always (sorry if my english is choppy lol)
Wonderful, thank you so much for explaining all of that! We had no idea the flooding was cyclical and has been ongoing for the past decade or so. We'll have to revisit in 20 or so year and see how it's looking 😊 Thank you for watching and sharing your local knowledge with us!
Hi guys, excellent video. I love everything, especially seeing Evie having a good time at the lake. The places look stunning. Thanks for sharing with us. Saludos
I've done the Sunrise tour about 4 times and only once has there been clear skies! You guys are so lucky. Also, the guides that do the group tours for like 20-40 bucks are really knowledgeable re flora and fauna but not really on Maya history.
Good morning!! 🤗. Good to see you in Petén. The bigger lake in Guatemala Is Izabal Lake, wich Is in department of Izabal. This department has caribbean Beach too, like Livingston, Playa Blanca and Playa Dorada. Near yo Tikal Is another archeological park call Yaxha, Is small that Tikal, but Is so beautiful too because are the ruins ant the lake Is behind, so the View Is amazing too. Here in Petén there's another archeological park call El Mirador, in this park Is the bigger pyramid in volume of the World call La Danta, but Is difficult get there, only by Two Tours, one walking into the jungle for five days, or in helicopter. For winter in Flores, this island always Is flooded, but this year the level of the water was more that usual, and the news said that exist the fair that this island probably is going to disappear 😢 in years, that i hope Don't, because for me Is a beautiful caribbean colonial island.
@@nicoleandmicoOh!! That's great 🤩👌. Because i thought Petén was your last destination here in Guatemala 🇬🇹. Which one Is your next country? Why you dont stay here living ☺️? Hugs 🥰 to Evie 🐕🥰
@@nicoleandmicoomg please visit Yaxha you will not regret it, you will love it❤❤❤ Is a whole different experiences, the huge temple there takes you to another world❤❤❤❤

Buen video
I love to see your time with Evie. Tikal is a beautiful place. Could you hear the Howler Monkeys?
También pueden visitar los parques del IRTRA en Retalhuleu. De categoría internacional, y son grandísimos. Saludos.
It's a beautiful site. Otherworldly. There's an empire strikes back scene that was filmed there.
No way! It makes sense that movies would be shot here. Such a cool spot!
Hi guys, excellent video. I love everything, especially seeing Evie having a good time at the lake. The places look stunning. Thanks for sharing with us. Saludos
Thanks so much! Evie really did adore that lake time 😊
Bonito peten😊

My one and only sunrise tour was all fog. Still very cool with the howler monkeys.
@@kensmithzzz Yess I should have mentioned that even if you don't have clear skies, the tour is 10000% worth it!
Si estan en peten deben vitar tambien crater azul y Yaxha. 🤙
If you are still in Guate, look up the Mirador Hike. THAT is a once in a lifetime experience.
Mico looks like Kimkima from Mizoram, India. He is one of my favorite new musicians.
Tikal appeared in Star Wars IV
Are you guys still in guatemala?❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It Washington Star Wars episode IV...1,977/1,978...

A pity you did not get to film a jaguar or other animals in Tikal.
Did yall visit yaxsha ruins
No, but we got the chance to visit Quiriguá in next week's video :)
Quirigua es patrimonio de la humanidad por la UNESCO desde 1981.@@nicoleandmico

At the sunrise in Tikal, you should have just let the ambient sounds play--the "music" kinda ruined the majesty of the sunrise.
I love everything, except for the shaman and the way people worship those pirámides, a lot of witchcraft!! I am Guatemalan, living in Canada 🇨🇦
Yo soy de Guatemala y ni conosco los lugares turísticos 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
