Not going to lie I was in Afghanistan two tours and kinda pissed I didn't steal a ACOG when we ended up giving it all to the Taliban. If I knew what I knew now back in 2010-11 and 2013 I would have stole so much shit we gave to terrorist and you could have even called it patriotic it ended up in my hands and not a terrorist but hindsight is 20/20 as they say.
I worked for that company 3 days short of 15 years. ACOGS are almost indestructible. I built thousands of them and they had 1 at the company that was shot by a sniper and the Marine was albe to take that sniper out with the same scope! The scope saved our Marine's life but would still functional!!!
As a Marine, I've seen many trijicon rcos break or fail. Cracked, floating reticle, etc. Not saying they aren't good. I'd definitely buy one if I had the money. But definitely not indestructible
I recently bought my very first brand new optic for my CZ527. Took it to the range, between snow storms and started getting it dialed in. Can’t believe I waited until I was in my fifties to start customizing my arms! Better late than never, I reckon.
I bought one of these, recently. Paid $71. The reticle in the one I bought is a red chevron with some ranging marks below it. Also has marks left and right, horizontally, for lead or wind. I put it on an AR57 chambered in 5.7X28. Out of the box, it was off by several feet to the right and several feet low at 25 yards. After getting it dialed in, it's been very good and has held zero. I figured a four power sight would be just right for the distances that I'd realistically be shooting with the 5.7X28. I've only had it on the rifle for a week, so I'll have to do more evaluation over time. So far, I'm very happy with this ACOG knock-off.
I have an old Barska similar to this. It was made for a .22 but it has been on several firearms of higher power and performs well on all of them. It has been sitting on my Auto Ordinance M1 carbine for years. It holds zero perfectly.
Got to be honest... I have always wanted the Triji Acog. This one LOOKS the part for sure, but I did get me a Primary Arms SLx 3x32mm Gen III Prism Scope and am loving it on my 16" .300 BLk rifle
Fantastic grouping on a ACOG clone cant expect alot out of any scope its the shooter in part that makes the adjustment breathing and feel is everything at times
I could never spend that much on an ACOG either (especially after being issued one for free). Unless it was for work/duty purposes. You could buy multiple “Bing-Bangs” instead, and when you’re happy w/ your collection, then splurge on top tier optics ( if you’re fortunate enough to afford them) There’s a plethora of quality optics out there for a fraction of the price that’ll serve your every need. And when WW3 or the Apocalypse happens you can just find/gather them for free hahaha
This is true. I think that a lot of people will be upgrading if the time comes. I know people that have nice stuff and train. I know more people that have nice stuff and have never shot most of their toys. I actually know a guy that has been building ARs for about 15 years. Building them is his hobby. He reloads as well. He will make custom stuff for people (mostly cops on the area), but he has at least 20 of his own. He will flat out admit that he hasn't shot a gun in 10 years. He doesn't like to shoot them. He just likes to build them.
I like the 20$ Amazon red dots they’ve all been tough and reliable. Just get the old school aluminum tube style. U gotta turn em on and off their not shake awake but other than that ! For 80$ I’d rather buy other stuff like primers or something. Only spending 28$ on a optic is cheap but I like to get the very most for my $ my ar was given to me out of a house fire! So I had to replace everything not steel so it’s definitely a budget build but it’s reliable. 220$ build 268$ after dot sling mags etc. now that’s cheap
It’s worth it honestly. I have astigmatism and while some companies are finally making some decent prism scopes, they still fall short of the ACOG’s field of vision, clarity and ruggedness. Just because you were issued one for “free” shouldn’t diminish your perception of that tool. I know it’s a tired stereotype that all issued gear is crap but it’s just not true, there are some awesome pieces of kit that the military offers. And you don’t get to keep your issued gear, so the comparison of getting it for “free” is pretty silly Red dots and holographic sights are completely unusable for me.
I got a aesthetically perfect acog knockoff at a gun-show years ago. My Bushmaster .450 upper shattered the glass in less than a mag. I tracked the lady down to get a refund lol.
i bought a knockoff like this 2 years ago, and it's worked flawlessly so far. I've dropped it a couple of times in the woods, both on a rifle and off, and it's still working great. if you can handle the super tight eye relief, go for it and get one.
I just put a cheap 4x truglo on my "16 ar. My dad has a real ACOG that has never been mounted. The ACOG is still in the case. He said that i could use it, but im going to see how the cheap one holds up first. I actually bought it for a pellet gun, and it impressed me with the abuse that it has taken. I looked it up, and that truglo is supposed to be rated for shotguns. We shall see. ACOGs are really cool, but you can just get more versatile options now. I will probably go with a Primary Arms 1-6 LPVO if the truglo rattles apart. Who knows, we shall see. That ACOG would look good on my rifle, and they are plenty functional. That biggest thing about the ACOG is that they are built like tanks.
Love your videos Brother. thank you for takin the time to produce em. I have a couple of these ACOG clones and like them well enough but for a little bit more money I LOVE my Burris AR332 prism 3X.
I have one for my A4 clone. It works great! Its an exact copy of the Trijicon except it doesn't have tritium. If you tape the fiber it goes all black, some people might like that plus its a very fine reticle all the way out to 1200 meters. The ballistics and range finder seem to be pretty close too.
I bought a cheap AR 1×4 from Traditions, (the black powder guns people,) a number of years ago. It's a friggin' tank and good enough for general field use. (Mostly AZ Jackalopes and plinking.) It's not that I wouldn't want a $1,000-$1,500 optic, but I don't hunt big game, I don't whore myself out as a contractor, I'm not a SWAT sniper and I don't have an optics budget that high, so it's nice to see that "cheap" doesn't always mean "crap" anymore. Nice vid, dude.
I had a NC star acog. Stuck it on an AR 15 in 223 and it to 400 yards(that's as far as we could shoot) it would bust frozen milk jugs by dialing up the yardage. Sighted in at 100 on the zero line. After watching the first group, mine held way better than that.
A lot of people spend a ton of money on optics when it is not necessary to get glass that is comparable in performance. In the past making quality lenses was the major cost of optics and the truth is that manufacturing high quality lenses today using CNC manufacturing has drastically reduced their cost. The second major cost is the design and precision necessary to manufacture the tube, internals and support system for those lenses. Thanks to CNC machining those costs have also come down. I like this thing and for quality non adjustable, fixed magnification optics and red-dot sights you don't need to spend a ton of money. If it works, it works. So don't buy an optic just because of the label or bragging rights. Do some research, shop around and use that extra money for ammo.
I have a few of these, and my over-riding issue is the rather short eye relief, which is exacerbated where the shooter is wearing glasses. But it does nonetheless seem like a cost effective way to go--just with a bit of caution for eyeglass wearers.
good to know i wasnt the only one who bought that thing. 'course mine has a different reticle, i think its called the chevron reticle. the little upward-pointing arrow shows the point of aim
8:42 you're _so close_ to using a very accurate off-hand shooting form called the "Olympic rifle stance" (do a Google image search for that!)... The reason it works so well is when you put your elbow onto your hip you're then using a _bone on bone rest_ vs just muscles. There's also a couple ways to use a regular rifle sling/strap to add more support.
Practice a bit more on a cooler day without mirage. You can cut that group in half which is critical before you double or triple the range. Right now you can hit center of mass on a torso which what the military strives for anyway. Days are getting hotter and mirage is going to be a concern for good accuracy.
I don't think the bad guys are gonna wait for a cooler day without mirage to do their evil business. Probably a good idea to practice and train in all conditions.
Not a bad group for a $100 optic.I've bought plenty of optics at or below 100 and they didn't last that long the red dots do,scopes not so much.I have a primary arms 3x prism scope that's an ACOG type it works pretty good.I think I paid $250.I also have a $70 red dot made by them and the thing sucks.
I love seeing these types of shooting accuracy reviews with AR's. It is no better than my AK-47's. I have an SGL 21-61 and a Zpap. Both shoot less than 3" groups at 100. I can put a full mag in a paper plate at 100 with either. My SGL is a bit tighter because of its PA Micro prism 3x. Great scope but over 300.
The problem I have experienced with many lower end optics and sights is simply durability and stability over time. Internal parts coming loose or moving and losing zero.
I bought one and after 60 rds. I had to loctite the 2 mounting screws. Also, after the 60 rds. I had to take the back cover off a rotate the chevron back to straight. it rotated to the 2 o'clock position.

Had one of these on my 10/22 with a Knox collapsible stock for the short eye relief. Was a fun plinker for about a year and then the thing quit holding zero.
@@jefferyboring4410 It was on my little varmint rifle that I’d throw on the back of the quad on the farm. I’m assuming it just got banged around too much.
I use this acog on my 2nd rifle made for a teammate that doesnt have a rifle... I have it on a QD mount so you can still use the irons just incase it decides to not work
I wouldn't bet my life on it long term. I have a Swampfox Arrowhead 1-10 and a 1-8 on two different AR's. Total for both on sale was $745 combined after tax. Both have great glass, features, and hold zero forever. And each, they're 75% less expensive than an ACOG. As far as the Pinty, don't bet your life on something that costs less than a handy.
I have a budget acog from Amazon. Compared it to a trijicon. Really the only thing I’ve seen is that the trijocon is clearer and has true x4 mag. My acog is fine for plinking but doesn’t track well. The subtensions don’t hold up at distance either. But still fun 🤷♂️
I've been watching your videos for quite a while now . And somehow barely now that i was watching you through the sunlight . You kind of resemble Steve Irwin haha . Minus the Australian accent of course haha .
I had a couple of them I bought for my pellet guns. Worked fine except in less than a year strange black spots showed up from defects that kept growing larger in the glass?
I had one that did that. Took it apart and it`s just a solid prism in there. At least the place I got it from sent me another one for free. I have another one thats been on my trunk gun for several years with no issue.
I mean, its high time we all start making our unarmed friends some care packages, videos like this are a great way to find budget items for beginners, or novices. Great for those who are uninterested or incapable of training or intense exercise that would likely damage budget quality things. Remember you should trust your rifle with your life. If you are an able bodied and ready individual, with an understanding that you are part of the militia. Work hard and get the best quality and most reliable things you can. Price doesnt matter when its not only your life on the line, but liberty as well.
The best use of these is to put them on your cheap ARs that are stored in your Easy to find safe. Keep all your real stuff in a secret safe/storage location. When a thief or AFT agent with a warrant shows up,( some thing really) you won’t lose all your stuff.
You get what you pay for especially with Glass, I have purchased a dozen different LPVOs, prisms, MPVOs etc. very rarely does an optic stand out in their price range. Viper PST, Steiner 1-4 (when it was 500.00) now it’s a bit pricey. Arken EP8 1-8 (I dislike Arken but this LPVO impressed me big time) Athlon 2-12 all ouch way up. Just my opinion
I bought one several years ago to put on my ex wife's AR15 and it is ok just the mounting g screws keeps getting loose a lot. Needed to use thread lock
Love the video. The problem is with the cheaper Chinese copies is that we are funding the Chinese People Liberation Army and probably would have the same gear 🤔. Just saying
Get some quality used name brand optics from your LGS or pawn. Would make a great episode. I got a cool vintage SKS/AK BEC eurolux 4x and new NCstar QD mount for under a benjamin at my favorite local gun shop.
Honestly love your show great review of the $80 Acog looked all over could not find any of the information you said were in the link below or even where the links for at punched every single button I could but couldn't figure it out
Holy Hair! ha nice shooting brother. The real test with these budget ACOGS is how well they hold up to abuse. Will they hold a clear zero if submerged in water, dropped in mud, dropped on pavement, etc...?
They are usually on Amazon! I’ve studied em a bit apparently their not perfect 1x but u can shim em out to get em right. I like the Amazon 28$ red dot pinty seems to be pretty good. I’ve bought a few of their 28$ dots and had good luck but is sucks when u have a stigmatism in your 👁. If u have a stigmatism and u want the reticle in focus a magnifying optic will look good to u.
I guess these knockoffs would be ok as a range toy optic. I saved and bought a real ACOG after realizing that after a few mistakes trying to go cheap, it's better sometimes to spend the money for proper quality. You'll be happy years down the road.
Nothing worse to me than a high dollar optic, that you can get cheaper elsewhere. considering they are all foreign made, and some by the same manufacturer with different brand names on them, but are sold as a high dollar optic because of the name stamped on it, usually that is it most people couldn't tell good glass from bad glass. Take two of the same style optics, one name brand one unknown, and change or cover the names and say the cheap optic is a trijicon or aimpoint something like that, and say the top priced optic was a knockoff, and see how many people could tell the difference. I bet very few would be able to know the fifference
It's not just your videos it is every gun related video when the content producer says " I will put the link below" or anyplace I can never find the links.
Would this mount to a Henry? I have a 22WMR that I think would be a good fit for something like this. By the way; your videos aren’t good because they are da*n good!! I try to watch one every Saturday night with a cold one in my hand!!

Maybe it will work out? Not sure that one performing at the top of the lone. With more practice at shoting, you can learn to shot better with more magnificatiio with such devicies.
I don't see where you got it from because I was thinking about buying one and putting it on my AR-15 I do like the way it looks and I couldn't even come close to afford the real one but that one looks just like the real one anyway keep up the amazing RUclips videos

I use this acog on my 2nd rifle made for a teammate that doesnt have a rifle... I have it on a QD mount so you can still use the irons just incase it decides to not work
Once again I’m following your lead! Can’t wait to get it and try it out!
I would like to see you do an old school vs new like a Remington 788 vs a Ruger American in 308 or 22/250 or and old model 70 vs anything just asking
My daughter is 8 and I put a cv life red dot on her ar15 for deer hunting and it stays zeroed been good for 2 seasons now
Love your videos, but would really like to see you shoot you 338 Ruger American! Keep up the good work 👍
Is coming soon. Been more busy than I would like lately
Can’t wait!
Primary arms is the cheapest I'd trust my life with. They have great 300$ options.
I have one on my 22lr. Its wonderful. Less stress on the knock off lense. Im sure itll stay true for awile
Where is the link to the website for the optic?
I have to say, you are a really good shooter and your videos are very entertaining. Keep doing what you do WTW.
Thanks for watching John
I have a genuine ACOG on my crossbow! Was $850, made for xbow. I bet this affordable knock off would work just as well.
I have seen people buy the air soft versions and they use locktite on everything to make them hold up better.
Nice but.... We have something in common. We go from 3"-4" of hair to a crew cut. I hate to take the time to go to the barber also.
I have one of those with the chevron for a year now no issues and haven lost cero not even once. Its just funcional
Mold 🤮
A pellet gun is worse on a scope than an AR
That choice of rope instead of duct tape over the paper plates had me cracking up
Heard the SFT2 one is super good and it's the ones the Japanese military has
The best use of these is to put them on your cheap ARs that are stored in your Easy to find safe.
Keep all your real stuff in a secret safe/storage location.
When a thief or AFT agent with a warrant shows up,( some thing really) you won’t lose all your stuff.
I only paid $900 for my Trijicon ACOG. I love it by far my favorite
Only 900 does not compute to me. That is a ton of money
@Cimino1138 I disagree. Extremely gross markup in optics. Many are made in the same factory
Just saying
I have the USMC-issued variant ACOG, no reason to slap a Chinese made PoS on a good rifle. Good optics are an investment.
Too rich for my wallet
Get some quality used name brand optics from your LGS or pawn. Would make a great episode. I got a cool vintage SKS/AK BEC eurolux 4x and new NCstar QD mount for under a benjamin at my favorite local gun shop.
Id go with that on airsoft but thats about it.
Of course i don't blame folks
You can buy two decent rifles for the price of an ACOG
Honestly love your show great review of the $80 Acog looked all over could not find any of the information you said were in the link below or even where the links for at punched every single button I could but couldn't figure it out
68 beans for the ACOG amzn.to/3ZMc7m3
71 beans for this one amzn.to/416shYD
59 beans for this one amzn.to/418hzB2
Thanks for the help. Have a good one.
Usually you get what you pay for .
But once in a while you find a good deal . But if you don’t , well what can you expect when you go cheap
Just got one of these too. Not that exact model. I've noticed the eye relief is not the greatest. I still have to test it and see.
Holy Hair! ha nice shooting brother. The real test with these budget ACOGS is how well they hold up to abuse. Will they hold a clear zero if submerged in water, dropped in mud, dropped on pavement, etc...?
So no batteries that's a good idea good video I kinda been looking for a scope for my 20ga for deer and turkey might check it out
No batteries
Pinty's web site doesn't have anything like that listed. What model is it?
Filmed a year ago. They may not have it anymore
@WHOTEEWHO Dang, your hair grows fast. You had a buzz cut yesterday.
😆😆😆
The technology in the ACOG is decades old, It doesn't surprise me that you can make a knock off cheaply that's still pretty effective
Who What Where - Who makes it? What model is it? Where can we buy one?

With Barnaul ammo that’s pretty good!
Cool video to show you are the same cool dude now that you have always been 👍
It's not just your videos it is every gun related video when the content producer says " I will put the link below" or anyplace I can never find the links.
I always have it - but now we are not allowed to do that for optics 🤦♂️
68 beans for the ACOG amzn.to/3ZMc7m3
I've got one of these on my AR47 and it holds a 100 yard zero just fine.
have this on my truck 12.5 pistol.....shoy coyote out to 300 and change to my cmmg 22lr conver. i drop down 8 clicks
Would this mount to a Henry? I have a 22WMR that I think would be a good fit for something like this. By the way; your videos aren’t good because they are da*n good!! I try to watch one every Saturday night with a cold one in my hand!!
Man, what did you do find an old video when you had long hair? Plus a couple of pounds lighter. It’s nice when we look back in time and see what it’s like to be in shape. Hell I scare myself every time I pass a mirror, wondering who the heck is that old man. lol
Maybe it will work out? Not sure that one performing at the top of the lone. With more practice at shoting, you can learn to shot better with more magnificatiio with such devicies.
Love it! shooting an AR in your crocs! Merica!
Yee yee
The website you put doesn't have that scope. any suggestions?
Thanks
It's a head shot every time, how shock proof is it, I'm sure with an acog a reasonable amount of shock is expected
Interested in how it pairs with a 300blk ruger ranch..
Either you forgot, I doubt that, or RUclips is suppressing the information each time you reply. So where did you get it?
Pinty. I am no longer allowed to post links to such things
68 beans for the ACOG amzn.to/3ZMc7m3
@@WHOTEEWHO that the same company?
I don't see where you got it from because I was thinking about buying one and putting it on my AR-15 I do like the way it looks and I couldn't even come close to afford the real one but that one looks just like the real one anyway keep up the amazing RUclips videos
Nice concept for a budget ACOG. Seems better once you shot at the metal target vs the paper plate as it was stringing horizontally and then vertically. ♠️🎩🎯🎱🇺🇲🏁🇺🇦🔱🌻🌼💮🌸🏵️🏴☠️🏹
Who makes this?? Links
He said it was made by pinty. RUclips is kinda weird about posting links nowadays
@@BOT_JUSTIN thanks I'll look it up.

Got my Pinty last year
Cool 👍
Links? Product manufacturer? Name?
I can’t see the description on my phone. Can you reply with a link to this optic? Thanks and great content. I subscribed.
68 beans for the ACOG amzn.to/3ZMc7m3
I looked in your description and there is no address to purchase one of these knock off’s. 🤷♂️
I dont know about the cheap one. But the ones the military buy. 100 yrds it can do it. 200 yrds its can do it. We sight them in to shot 300 meters which 300 yrds.
