    I am very inspired by your weight loss and happy for you. I would like to suggest that you not line your crock pot with plastic bags like that when you cook or store your cooked meat in plastic containers. The oils in the meat and heat are causing very very toxic chemicals to leach out of the plastic into your food. Please stay away from plastic. Chemicals in plastics are endocrine interrupters and cause great problems for animals and humans. Please don’t be offended

      @@canadianalien370 I think the rule with plastics for any food is to not let plastics touch foods at anything above room temperatures. Preferably, eliminate plastics with foods as much as possible!

    Cleaning the crock pot need not be a chore - let is soak with some hot water to which baking soda has been added. I add it by eye, probably a quarter cup. It softens whatever hardened, cooked on food is in it. Rinse well. It's also a great abrasive, scrubbing product. Scrubs without scratching.

    When you cook 80/20 or any other combination of ground beef to fat, you are actually cooking the fat and juices out of the beef, which means it's no longer 80/20 or whatever it was when you started.
    I actually don't add water, as the ground beef has plenty of moisture and I don't want to dilute the natural flavor. In fact, if anything, I add one stick of butter to my ground beef for even more fat.
    Then, after the ground beef is cooked, I save some of your rendered fat and juice to add to the ground beef the next time I do another batch instead of adding butter.
    Note; If you season the ground beef before cooking and save the juice and fat to add to the next batch of ground beef, it will keep getting more and more flavourful the longer you keep recycling it. I learned that trick in a gourmet restaurant.
    I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong, I'm just putting a suggestion out there should someone be looking for a different way.
    Keep up the good work.

      I did, until my stall. I truly believe that if I had been willing to lower my meat intake during my stalls, by 1-1 1/2 ounces per meal I would have broken my stall, I still believe the amount of calories I ate along with the carb and type of food had a huge impact on my weight loss. I didn’t know it at the time, but looking back, had I tried 14 ounces both meals the stall would have ended and loss restarted.

    To loosen cooked-on food, either/and/or fill the pot (crock) with water and boil -- or if very stubborn, cover cooked-on places (usually bottom) with vinegar and boil. Works like a charm and then you will not have issues with maybe/maybe not-plastic.

Maybe experiment with OMAD, or leaving the fat in the meat, that’s what the body wants, not the dog. It seems to be individual. I lost 64 pounds in my 22 months of carnivore and the last 7 months I stalled. After I started counting calories is when I lost 94 pounds.
      I have a broken full and hunger meter. Some people can earn when hungry and stop when satiated. That doesn’t work for me. I will eat until I am sick and eat more.
      So, for me, I had to control what I was eating. Sure some people can eat what they want and do fine.
      When I was omad my hair started falling out, and I didn’t do well. Yet you are thriving with omad. Again, we are each in social humans and our bodies have gone through different unique things. So what works for me might not work for you, and vice versa.
      I’ll stick to my plastic liners, thanks though!

Please help. (Oh, I’ve had covid for 2 weeks & I am not leaving the house or exercising)

    • @terrileist

      My opinion is this, remember I’m not a doctor lol, but our body will decide how it needs to use the nutrition we put inside. Sometimes our body will say, hey, things are groovy so let’s release some fat. Sometimes though, there are things going on inside our body that we can’t see-Inflammation, sickness, covid, cold, etc. while mentally WE want to see the scale move, our body says, let’s use these calories to heal this issue first, THEN we can return to shedding pounds.
      My OPINION is that when we heal our body sends our healing soldiers to the bad places and we may retain some fluids because there is inflammation. Where there is healing there is inflammation. So as we heal we retain fluids. Once the healing is done, our body will say-ok, that’s done, let’s go back to releasing the excess water and release some fat from our fat cells.
      I had weeks of losing and weeks of gaining and weeks of maintaining. I ate the same but my body decided how it would spend those calories. When you eat the same every day and you see your scale going up and down for ‘no reason’ you have to trust your body and know that it has to heal all the things that are wrong first. Then it will let you lose weight.
      Stay the course and remember it’s not a day today scale we look at. We look at the trends. Pick a day and check weekly, and write it down. If it’s going up every week for 4-6 weeks, write down what you’re eating and see what you might need to change.
      If it’s trending down 2, then 0, then up 1, then down 1, then 0, then down 1 then up 2-then you’ll know if you’re eating the same foods that your body is working on healing and you have to be patient.
      I hope that all makes sense. Your hormones will change day to day so you can’t looks at the scale and see what you gain and lose from one day to the next, that’s literally just a snapshot of your hormones that day.

    Hi Terri, watching this I am wondering how you know what the calorie count for the meat is after most of the fat is rendered away? If I understand it right, the calorie count on the package includes the fat.
    Thank you!

    • @terrileist
      @terrileist  10 месяцев назад +1

      Truth be told, i don't really know. I plug it in as what it says it is, and then use that number. If the scale moves down, i know i have an amount I can use to lose, and if the scale doesn't move, i know i should lower the ounces by 1, then see if it changes.
      I know I'm not getting all of the fat, but also, i know i'm weighing after it's cooked, and they weigh it before it's cooked. So i kinda figure it balances out. The part they add to the nutrition amounts is cooked out, while the part I'm adding in, was the part that was added from the part that was cooked out of another amount.
      I hope that makes sense??? it does in my head ha!

      For me-it’s a calorie thing. I feel just as good without the fat as I did with the fat. I also eat in bulk so in order to eat the amount of food I want and not go way over with calories I need to omit the fat.
      Also, for me-I wanted to burn the fat on my body by running on the fat I wanted to get rid of. I can’t say it’s scientific, but if I ate fat and my body is in ketosis and burning fat-I didn’t want it to do like it does when we are running on the carbs we eat, I wanted it to run on my body fat not the food fat. I hope that makes sense??? It does in my head lol

      @@terrileist @terrileist "Eating high-fat foods, in contrast to protein-heavy foods, is more likely to lead to ketosis - the process of burning fat for fuel instead of carbs, which can lead to rapid weight loss in the short term. Eating foods high in fat can also make a person feel full." Fatherly
      “Here we’ll offer a list of issues to either rule out or address that will help you achieve your carnivore diet weight The carnivore diet is, by default, a high-fat, low-carb diet. This is because your body can only get about 35% of its calories from protein without encountering symptoms of protein poisoning.
      When you cut carbs on carnivore you’ll need to get nearly 100% of your calories from a combination of protein and fat. This means that you’ll need to get at least 65% of your calories from fat.
      On a low-carb diet, when you eat too much protein and not enough fat, your body turns the protein into blood sugar through a process called gluconeogenesis. This process interferes with fat metabolism, which can, in turn, limit weight loss.”

The last 7 months of those 22 months I stalled. At that time no one would talk about calories or lower fat or anything like that in the carnivore community. I just saw a video of Kelly Hogan last week where she’s starting to realize some people have different needs. Had someone said, maybe instead of 2lbs of beef per day, try 1 3/4 lbs, then I might still be carnivore, but it was VERY frowned upon to restrict, so that’s when I left and changed to Keto with calorie counting and lost the final 90lbs.

      I was on carnivore and added all the fats, but it didn’t help me lose weight after I lost 64lbs. I stalled 7 months. By adding all the fats. I changed to keto and more lean to moderate fat and the weight started coming off again.
      As far as health-I literally feel no different when I added the fat vs now and no changes in my lab work. The problem with listening to everyone online is that they are talking in general terms and don’t focus on the small group that have different needs.

    Just fill the crockpot with water and soak it for awhile. Water is the greatest solvent and your pot will clean right up.
    80/20 will taste better especially if you season it.
    Remember, a healthy adult can, should consume no more than 21 oz including beverage at each meal.
    Your stomach is about the size of your fist, we shouldn’t expand it too much. Smaller meals , more water especially as we get older.
    An associate of mine lost a considerable amount of weight using your method… his meals consisted of the seasoned beef, ketchup, veggies like green beans, carrots, corn, broccoli, mushrooms etc. He kept variety by trying different sauces he would invent his own no sugar sauces or fruit based sauces like plum, fig,apricot, like that but for times sake he would use quality ketchup.
    I would think this would accomplish your goals but hard to sustain it. Too many delicious foods flying around …..

    I am confused. Aren't you supposed to eat high fat on Keto? That is our energy, instead of sugar and carbs.

    • @terrileist
      @terrileist  10 месяцев назад

      This ‘keto’ diet was originally created for children who have seizures. Those children needed a very high fat diet. I think some people can do really well with eating high fat, because it helps them stay full for a long time time therefore, they get full and are able to consume fewer were calories.
      I think this is a very individualized topic. For me because I do not have the ability to feel full and I feel hunger constantly, I could’ve eaten 2 pounds of 73% three times a day. That is too much food.
      The point of keto, for weight loss, is to burn fat. I had, and still have fat on my body that my body can utilize to burn as energy. In my brain, why add fat from an external source to burn, when I can burn the excess fat on my body? Not the scientific answer-but it’s what my brain thinks.
      This is a very hot topic among the keto and carnivore world, but we have to remember, everyone is different, and some people may do great with high fat, but some peoples body does better with moderate fat or low fat.
      It’s truly an individual needs depending on how much each person has messed up our body along the way.

    Youre getting rid of wayyyy too much fat.. youre almost at 100-0 ground beef the way you get rid of the fat (and a lot of collagen). .. you should pour the fat back into the individual containers with the ground meat to get it back closer to 80-20. The fat is the most critical part of the whole meal.

    • @terrileist
      @terrileist  11 месяцев назад

      If they were wild dogs they would eat whatever was on the animal. They get maybe 1 tbs once a day. They have great health according to the vet.
      When I was a kid the vet had my mom add a spoon of bacon grease on our poodles food to help her skin and coat.

      @@terrileist With my poodles in the past I'd always put some bacon grease in their bowl to mix with the dry food. The vet flipped out about that! I have a new poodle now and from day one, he is a meat eater - whatever I cook (plain meats), that's what he eats. There have been people that sneakily have given him junk food without my knowing. He doesn't trust it! So amazing. He will break the junk food up into bits and leave it all over the carpet/floor. He won't eat it. He treats it like a chew toy. He might tear it up but won't swallow. LOL

    If you are doing keto, you should eat the fat and give the lean to the dogs..but congrats on the weight loss

    • @terrileist
      @terrileist  10 месяцев назад

      I was eating the fat while I was carnivore for 22 months. However, I stalled for eight months eating all of that fat. It was when I went to leaner meat, that I lost over half of my weight. I think for some people eating a lot of fat is great, but for some people who have a whole lot of extra fat on their body, we need to burn the fat on our body instead of adding extra fat for our body to burn an external fat source instead of an internal fat source.
      Just my opinion, and what has worked for me

    Please do some good research. Do not feed your dogs cooked fat. They can eat raw fat but cooked fat is not good for them. Broth is ok if you remove the fat after refrigeration. Fat is actually better for you than for your dogs. Please stop giving them cooked fat!
