- Join Helen Kish for a "face-up" painting class in her studio! This video is full of awesome tips and tricks for painting dolls. It was filmed in 2019 before I had good cameras but I wanted to put it out there anyway. There is SO much to learn just by watching Helen. Thank you, Helen Kish! (There are no more painting kits.)

WOW!!!! I think I can try this! I love the life these techniques bring to the doll!
I wanted to say because only Jesus matters and I will not deny Him. Jesus Christ is Lord! God! Our Messiah! Amen Only He saves! And He is worthy and worth more than any and everything! And deserving of our immediate surrender to Him and His Lordship! Repent and believe the gospel. What is the gospel? Lord willing in Jesus name read 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Also read Acts 4:12 please and John 14:6, John 3:3-7, Romans 10:9-10 Luke 13:5 John 8:24 John 3:3-7, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 6:23
You don’t have to make excuses, it’s HELEN KISH!!! Thank you so much for posting it!
Completely agree. Thank you so much!
Her explanations are very clear. She’s a really good teacher.
Wonderful Video. Helen Kish is an awesome talented doll artist. Her dolls are absolutely gorgeous. Thank you Rachel and Helen for this tutorial.
Thanks so much for putting on back to public this video. I started to watched then paused and went to private. I was kicking myself for no finished on one view.
It happened to me too. Sent my dogs out and I couldn't watch the rest. So glad it's back
@@giseleperrin Me too. Just reviewed again and save it for future references .
❤️
My grandmother use to paint porcelain figurines in her basement studio. Watching her reminds me of my childhood and the dolls she would make.
I myself am a c.g portrait artist and was surprised by how similar our methods were despite our different medium choices.
She's extremely talented and it's a joy to watch her at work.
Same here. I have followed her ways.
Beginner here! Going to love it.
The painted face looks so beautiful. Love the idea of resting the middle finger on the hand holding the doll for stability. Why I didn't thought about it before. The tears and frustration that could I saved 😅.
No kiln to fire paint is dreamy 😍 .
Okay so i couldnt find a size with the right stiffness, in the really tiny brushes... for details... so one day I found a cat whisker on my bed that my girl Kittah lost and i put it against a bamboo skewer (with the part that goes into their skin as the tip you use) and I used dental floss to wrap around it and then I put one of those beads that are short and wide... from the 80s over it and then put a spot of super glue to keep the bead in place. The dental floss or thread should stop the bead and it gives you a place to hold thats comfortable. I know it sounds rinkey dink, but it works wonderfully. Especially for your thin single line painting for eye detail, single hairs or brows freckles or beauty marks/ moles. 😸🤓
Amazing how by knowledge and experience you have life in their eyes . My eyes are no good for this anymore . Beautiful work. Thank you
I use plastic lids from yogurt or cottage cheese as palettes.
Me too
I love this! So fascinating. It's a very delicate process but the results are just fabulous. Thank you Rachel for hosting this class and letting us see how Helen works. Amazing talent!
Thank you for your kind comments!

I saw a Tyler Wentworth on Ebay that was OOAK (one of a kind) and clearly they did NOT see this tutorial. She was all banged up! Should have repainted the repaint!!!😳 Thanks, Rachel! 😄
Thanks much Rachel for this video! So cool! I was hoping Helen would show how to remove the makeup on a doll and completely change the face.
Hi ,thanks so much..I have adopted 45 Riley 8 inch girls .love them all.
Thank you so much for watching!
Thank you for sharing this video loved watching this.
So glad! Thanks for watching!
Great video! So informative! Thank you Helen and Rachael.
You’re so welcome!
Thank you so much for this!!! 🤗
Thank you so much for this wonderful video.

Amazing
Medium is any substance that is a carrier of pigment OR that is added to already mixed paints to change the consistency. Flow aid is not actually a medium, although it acts like one. It is a thinner, like turpentine is to oil paint. Some mediums thicken the paint and make it stand up and stay thick rather than leveling out. Some make it flow but stay quite milky and moderately thick while doing so. Some are rubbery. Some are gel like (called gel mediums.) Some add texture like sandiness. Etc. You get the picture. Just didn't want people to go to the store and ask for "medium" and think they will be directed to flow aid. They will be directed to an entire shelf full of many kinds of mediums.
Thank you!!❤
Thanks for this, I use Liquitex and they are fabulous paints. One thing that I have found,is different companies will list the same shade or pigment, but it will be different, stick to one brand. Also Liquitex now do spray cans, I use them for larger composition dolls, as I don't have an airbrush.
Hello thank you for the video, I have learned a lot. I love how she explains every little detail.
Is it possible to get the supply list?
Thanks for tuning in! Please check the description of this video for a link to the supply list.

🙏🤩
🥰👏👍
There is a sealer on there when you start Right ?
Yes. The sealer I’ve seen the most reference is Mr. Clear spray. It’s Japanese I think.
Where can I get this kit please?
HI! These sold out a couple of years ago, I am sorry we do not have them.
Do you have information were we can find the paints?
Hi Carmen. These paints are all available at most hobby and craft stores in the States. I order almost all my paints on Amazon. It’s a good way to get it if you are not here. I find that their paint is fresh. It hasn’t been sitting on a shelf for years. It is water based so there should be no problem shipping it. 🌸
@@dottieb2862 Thanks so much for the information. I will need to watch the video again to get the name brand of the paint. I will check Hobby Lobby soon.
@@carmencolon3520 it is Liquitex brand.
@@bwellwak Thank you. Checking now before coffee. I can't believe I have missed this video and probably the dolls convention 😭.
@@dottieb2862 I wonder if we can use this paint on vinyl dolls 🤔.
Does Helen kesh do a commission work for 1:6 unpainted head sculpt? I want to turn it into Marilyn Monroe. I'm planning to buy a blank head sculpt if I find an artist. I'm from Edinburgh.
She doesn’t do much commission but you could also ask through her website. There’s also some good face up artists on Etsy.
@@RachelHoffmanDolls thank u
Do you have a Johnny PayPal doll?
Hi! I don’t.
Also that red is pronounced kwin-ak-ra-non (long o). Emphasis on the second syllable. Not too hard once you know it.
Just scanning other comments; The host Rachel is unable to answer a viewer’s “is it waterproof” question. She says “I don’t know, probably”.
REALLY??
Was there no preparation at all prior to making this video? like listing basic Need To Know facts, anticipating what viewers/learners would ask & having the definite answers ready?
Helen Kesh appears to be totally unprepared as if Rachel just turned up unannounced & totally inconvenienced her with attempting to rope her in against her wishes to making an educational video to help novices.
I found it unbelievable that when
painting eventually did commence,Rachel had to prevail upon Helen to turn the doll’s face at least partially towards the camera- until then we were looking at the back of it’s head & the work
in progress was obscured. Helen concentrates on gas-lighting novices about damaging their brushes & wasting paint -basics we all learned to avoid doing whilst in Kindergarten/Primary School.
Due to the complete lack of positivity & what appeared to be intentional & continuous stalling, I conclude that neither the host nor the artist wished to share anything to assist novices in improving their skills.
A great example of Old School jealously guarding what they think are their secrets, just in case a talented new person should come along & challenge their title/crown.
Thankfully, all these materials are widely available in mainstream art shops everywhere & RUclips/Social Media is filled with confident, generous folks who’re only too happy to share their Pearls of Wisdom!🙏😀Good Luck people & don’t forget to chill & enjoy creating!!❤️😘
How about if you don’t like the tutorial, then just move on and quit watching it instead of taking an hour out of your time to write a freaking essay.
