Jason Danieley performed many tenor roles in works such as “Candide” (which coincidentally featured a role performed at one time by Robert Rounseville, who was cast also as Mr Snow in the 1956 film of “Carousel”). He and his late wife Marin Mazzie (she passed away in 2018) often appeared together, including their appearance in the 2004 Reprise revival of “Brigadoon”. In addition to “Carousel” Danieley has also done other Rodgers and Hammerstein shows and concerts, including “Allegro” and “South Pacific”. His interpretation and performance as Mr Snow seen and heard here was fresh and imaginative. Despite a great performance by Nathan Gunn as Billy in this staged concert with the NY Philharmonic, it would have also been interesting casting to see and hear Danieley in the role of Billy, a role which has been played by both baritones and tenors. Danieley even bears a resemblance to Charles Farrell who had portrayed the precursor to Billy in the 1930 film version of “Liliom” !
