Funny that after a google session it still remains unclear whether that mentioned germanium (a chemical element; symbol Ge and atomic number 32) means in this context that the device uses germanium transistors or germanium clipping diodes, or perhaps both. Germanium transistor fuzz pedals often give quite distinctive sound compared to silicon ones, but have, if operating temperature varies, usually very very unstable bias characteristics which usually implies inconsistent sound as well.
