How Good Is NORTHERN THAI FOOD? 🇹🇭 The MOST FAMOUS RESTAURANT in NAN Thailand
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 18 сен 2024
- NAN, THAILAND - Northern Thailand is famous for the Northern Thai food with its unique flavours and recipes. Today I visit a restaurant which is one of the best restaurants in Nan Province called Huen Phuka where I try three authentic Northern Thai dishes. I eat sai oua or Northern Thai sausage, gaeng ho (meaning "curry"), a classic Northern Thai dish originating from leftovers and Tam Khanum which is a pounded jackfruit salad.

I also love Gang Ho and Tam Kanun and the ones that you had look incredible. Again you could explain the food very well, now that I believe it’s your talent 😂. I just visited Wat Phratat Khao Noi last month, loved it and it was one of the best places to watch sunset in Nan❤. However, to see it the bird eye view from your drone shots is even more impressive.
They were really good, I guess it deserves its spot as the most famous restaurant in Nan haha., Tam Khanun is the favourite, just because it is the most surprising for the flavour it delivers. Drone always makes things better I think.
Joe!!! Killin it, man, Nan is a paradise in so many ways, I see you are enjoying some good stuff today. That jackfruit salad is one of North's best creations, good order today! Hope things are going well TODAY, keep it up dude!!
Thank you Joel! Nan is amazing, I think it is my favourite province that I have visited so far in Thailand. The food, the people, the scenery, the ambience, it is amazing. The jackfruit salad was crazy good, so moreish and takes the Thai flavours so well. Hope all is well and you are having a great week.
Gaeng Ho may have originated from Burmese Hinle or Hangle curry. expected to occur at the temple Due to important religious festivals such as the Buddhist Lent Day, the End of the Buddhist Lent Day, and the Songkran Festival, the villagers will bring a lot of food to the monks. not run out of monks And in the old days there were no refrigerators. It's a pity to let it go to waste And the food that was offered was good food, such as steamed buns, grilled pork, fried pork, curry om, larb, pork skin, and maybe some curry with coconut milk. The temple then brought those foods to Ho. Add water and pour out the water to wash off some of the spoilage. Then put on fire or stir in oil, add salt, fish sauce, fresh chili or hot pepper. Season as you like, add additional ingredients such as vermicelli, bamboo shoots and flavor by adding kaffir lime leaves and lemongrass. ^^
That is super interesting, you are hired as a channel researcher hahaha. Seriously, thank you for taking time to provide such context and knowledge :) I wish I knew it when I filmed.
You are welcome 🙏😆
Food looks amazing!! Nan is on my list of places to go!
Yes mate! Nan, for food and for mind blowing views is amazing! Just wait for the next few vids!
Great video. Food looks delicious.
Thanks Paul, the food was great! Especially tam khanun which was a real surprise.
Another great video Joe. Love the drone shots.
thank you! The drone really does make a huge difference to most of the videos.
เมนูโปรดอร่อยทุกเมนู
Yes! It’s. A great restaurant
The food is delicious and the food arrangement in the next room looks good and the atmosphere is very special.
it is a really great restaurant actually. Worth the price.
ต้องกินกับข้าวเหนียว 🤤
Oh yes!!
My favorite menu is Kanom Jen nam ngiew 🤤🤤🤤
oh yeah, that is also delicious too.
@@hungrytoexplore Rock on!
I'm giggling when you say Gang 'Ho'. LOL.
hahaha why?
ทุกเมนูต้องกินคู่กับข้าวค่ะ
Everything is better with rice :)
I love it all, Very delicious.
So good!! Especially the tam khanun
Just had lunch here a few hours ago and going back for dinner very soon. Very nice food. I might have to bring my camera as the servings you got were huge compared to ours. Going to try some things i haven't eaten in Thailand yet tonight. Thanks for the videos Joe.
Oh that’s awesome! Strange about the portion size. I just ordered off the normal menu. I mean I didn’t need them that big. Maybe show them the video to compare. Glad you enjoyed it and very impressed you’re in Nan. Are you going to visit Sapan?
@@hungrytoexplore yes heading there tomorrow. Dinner was awesome. Ordered way too much food. They have an english menu now and a qr code to scan for the menu also.
Heading to phayao and chiang rai once we are done with nan. The road from nan to phrae was absolutely awesome. Would be even better on a bike but with a car was also fun.
อาหารเมืองน่านต้องกินกับข้าวเหนียวคะ อาหารภาคกลางต้องกินกับข้าวเจ้าถึงจะอร่อยคะ😊 welcome to Nan
great tip! thank you! I will be back, that is for sure!
more drone footage please! great filming of the food, it looked amazing. The colours and texture of the last dish are mouthwatering
haha I try and put as much drone in as I can in most videos don't worry. Yeah those three dishes really were winners, a great little restaurant and worth the price.
ลองไปทาน ร้านลาบเมืองเล็น เป็นที่รู้จักแค่คนในพื้นที่ 😋
Next time I will :)
Northern Thai food is my favourite kind of Thai food!! ไส้อั่ว, แกงโฮ๊ะ etc., remind me of my child hood but it’s not easy to find anywhere else if you don’t live around. Soo jellyy, I want some now🤤
Northern Thai food is so delicious.
Joe You have a good taste of Thai food. I am Thai and three of them are local food and very very delicious (in my Thai opinion). I thought foreigner cannot take them easily but from your video I am wrong. Those food represent signature-flavor of Norther Thai food. And I am so hungry while watching this.
They are really tasty dishes! Especially the gaeng ho, it has so much flavour.
I like Soop (derived from the word 'soup' ) Kanoon, too. To me, I think its texture is similar to boiled Rutabaga or potato. In Isaan dialect, this dish is called Soop Buck Mee. The way you describe the taste and texture of food in such detail is right up there with Gary's. You shouldn't have to rush for sunset though, because good food are meant to be savored. Drone shot is spectacular. Enjoy the warmth in Thailand, Joe. It is minus 11 to 30 degrees below zero for a few days here in the US. Lucky you! 😀🥶🤧🥶
Soop Buck-Mee!! Nae Non
It is such a cracking dish. I really like jackfruit when it is used like that and it works so well with Thai flavours. Thanks for your compliments putting me aligned with Gary, although, I am not convinced of that haha. Depends what kind of mood and flow I am in. I was rushing because this section of the video was actually supposed to be in the previous video but I split it as I thought it deserved its own video. Although obviously it was filmed in a way which was not as if it had its own. Still... it is a great restaurant and worth the visit. I do not envy you with that cold... I won't tell you the temp here.
@@JoelsTastyRide zap eee leee...hi Joel, how's it going? If you are in the same area with Joe, how about a collaboration of the two of you? Take care.
@Joe Parrilla FYI, If you made it to Koh Samui, Joe, be sure to stop by to say hi to Lily of Lily's life. She and her husband and the children have returned from the northern excursions a few weeks ago. She has about 200k subs, so, a little exposure wouldn't hurt, right? So many RUclipsrs have made appearances on her channel and vice versa. She was on Pete from Thairish Times not too long ago, and his subs were up about 2k more after her appearance. 😀, what do you think?

I’m happy that you liked them
Have fun eating Thai food
Thank you :) I love it.
That little green stuff is eggplant. You will find that in green curry as well. 👍🏻😁
haha yes, I worked that out after putting it in my mouth. I was on a quest to find out what that flavour was... but I got there in the end. Even though the waiters said no... I made them ask the chef and he confirmed hahah.
ที่ร้านนี้ คุณต้องลองลาบหมูคั่วค่ะ อร่อย
Oooh next time I will try it
Nan is on my list for next years tour
100% Add Phrae too if you can.
Late but still on time❣️the contents
story of my life really haha! Thanks Max :)
Enjoy your time ❤
Thank you :) it is difficult not to enjoy Nan, it is stunning and delicious haha.
Northern Thai food is tasty.Enjoy eating
So good!!
Thai food so good "Aroy"👍🏻👍🏽👍🏿
definitely! I am always discovering something new too.
Great video. Northern Thai food is the best. Nan (both the city and Province) seem to be the new Chiang Mai. I wonder if the burning season impacts it as much as in Chiang Mai Province. Looking forward to checking out Nan (and Isan) again in the spring. Cheers from a growingly cold Canada.
Nan is amazing, definitely worth the visit out there. I hope it remains under the radar but I don't think so, I think over the next few years people will start to head there in bigger numbers.
Excellence choice 😋🍻
Thank you 😋 tam khanun was so so good.
🥰🥰😍😍👍👍✌✌🇹🇭

How many nights would you suggest staying in Nan?
Well, one day to explore in and around the town. One day for a day trip for Sri Nan national park. Then you can drive to sapan via bo kluea (next video) , stay the night in sapan as it’s amazing, then you can drive to pua and stay the night or look around and head back to nan town
All that for $12 US is a bargain. Just a few personal notes....back many decades ago when I was in Thailand for several months, I was learning written Thai but never really mastered it, and few of the menus were written in English; I just ordered what looked good and/or had a great aroma......never had a dish I didn't enjoy, and never had any stomach issues (well, maybe just once when I broke my rule about fresh raw vegetables, since the auntie in charge brought me a special treat). If I ever get back there, I will probably use that Google translator just to make things easier for whoever's with me. Second thing would be.......don't order more than you can eat (or else carry away for later) if you can help it.......folks in Thailand and elsewhere are used to farangs ordering more food than they can possibly eat, and then just leaving food on the table and hurrying off somewhere else.....not very polite, to say the least, and would be considered disrespectful by many. Unless you're with company, I suggest that you order one dish at a time, regardless of what the staff may tell you (and try not to be driven by our common farang impulse to "catch" a sunset, or a sunrise, or a performance, or ceremony. You had enough on your table there to feed four to six folks, and it all looked great....made me jealous. What was extra, or fancy, or whatever, was the presentation.....that was nice also, but you could do the same with street food, and just pick your "sides" like the chilis, and ginger, etc. OK, I've blathered on a bit here, so I'll just leave it at that. As I commented the other day, it'll all come together one day if you keep at it. The most important thing is that you share your interest in Thai food and culture and the total experience, and keep at it. If I didn't believe that, I wouldn't have spent so much time on this comment.
Thank you for taking your time for such a long comment, I appreciate it :) $12 is a bargain for the quality and amount, plus the setting. I was really happy with the restaurant. Of course you can find cheaper street food but sometimes that isn't the point. Sitting in a restaurant setting is nice. Sure, when I am eating for myself I sometimes just pick at random, it is fun and I certainly don't over order. But for the video, I often need to order more, especially if it is a food only video. I do try and finish everything though or at the very least take away for later. Not good for my waistline though haha. The video was actually filmed as part of the first Nan video, which is why I was in a rush as it was supposed to be a full day in Nan, but when I came to edit, I realised that the restaurant segment could stand alone, although wasn't filmed in that way hence the comments about the rush (which I didn't actually do because the drone shots were from the night before). So it is a bit RUclips vs reality haha. I actually sat and enjoyed a very pleasant meal. 99% of my videos are filmed as seen, but sometimes when things go don't align there has to be a little creative license with timing.
@@hungrytoexplore And thank you for your response. I did find it hard to believe that you would just leave all that uneaten food; I'm glad that you explained how YT and other things on the internet are often different from the reality; I find that to be the case so many times, even with texting on the phone, and it leads to misunderstandings due to the lack of nuance. Enjoying all your videos so far, and I'm sure they will only get better over time. Have a great time during this holiday season, and best wishes for the coming year!
@@eswillie to be fair, as I mentioned. Almost all of my videos are filmed as they happen - I don’t have the time for it to be any other way. Just in this case the video was so long that I had to split it. Sometimes I misjudge the timing for how much content I film to go into the video that day. I think it’s only happened twice in all my videos, so they are “real” as can be.
And with the food, actually when filming and doing long distances on the bike I forget to eat, so a meal like you saw is probably my first meal of the day if breakfast isn’t included in the accommodation, so it’s no problem to hoover it up haha.
Thank you, I have you have a fantastic Christmas and new year too. Thanks for your support on the channel :)
@@hungrytoexplore At your age, and after a day on the road, I probably could have eaten all three platters myself. Considering that I worked most of the time outdoors and active, I wouldn't have worried about my waistline, despite all the beer. Lol. Enjoy!
ประเทศไทยน่าเที่ยวทุกจังหวัดทั่วประเทศ
Haha I think so too

Sure! It’s a restaurant so expect to pay more but it was worth the price I think. Sometimes it’s nice to eat in a restaurant
Brown rice or rice that is not polished to be white. Often have the health benefits of both mineral salts vitamins and minerals that the body needs and help make good health It's like a natural medicine.
sure! But it doesnt taste quite as good as white rice haha.
ทานได้ไมครับ
Why not?
good spicy food Calm down for those who are not good at eating spicy food. To eat spicy, you have to gradually. When you eat a little spicy, you will eat more delicious food until the meal you can't lack foods that are not spicy. Benefits of eating spicy = joint pain treatment Capsaicin stimulates the body to release a substance believed to relieve pain between nerves in the spine and other organs, consistent with one study showing capsaicin's efficacy. Zizin by giving patients with joint pain from osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis A cream containing 0.025 percent capsaicin was applied to the knee area four times a day for four weeks. There was a significant improvement in symptoms compared to the placebo group. About 80 percent of patients improved after two weeks of using capsaicin-containing creams, and some had a temporary burning sensation in the area where the cream was applied. Based on the above results, it can be said that capsaicin-containing creams are safe and possibly effective in the treatment of joint pain. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has also endorsed capsaicin, an extract found in chili peppers, to be helpful in relieving joint pain when applied topically.
thank you for your info, I should eat more spicy food then haha.
thats curry eat with rice better
sure, but already so much food haha
