- Frozen french fries can be an absolute life saver. Pop open a bag, pour 'em into the air fryer, and - BAM! - crispy, golden starch strips that go with many a meal. In the best cases, you won't even be able to tell the difference from a fry bought at a fast food place. Unfortunately, some frozen french flies fall flat, mostly because they're soft, limp, and tasteless. It's true, even the most aggressive of air fryers can't crisp that which can't be crisped. It leads one to wonder, why are some of these french fry products even sold in stores?! We tried 14 frozen french fries. Here's the best one to buy.

Which brand of frozen french fries is your favorite?
Alexia ................ sweet potato
Alexia, sweet potato or waffle fries
I liked the made in Iowa tater tots until they discontinued them near me in Indiana, otherwise, ore-ida crispy crowns are my fave. But yes...Arby's curly fries rock!
ORE IDA FAST FOOD FRIES…..ORE IDA WAFFLE FRIES….
Clearly Mc Cain ! However I make my own julienne
I'm taking your rankings of the Kroger, Great Value, and Ore-Ida french fries with a grain of salt (pun intended) since they're all processed and packaged in the same facility, and the only actual differences are the brand names on the bags and the prices.
thanks Jimi !
Quality information about the biggest questions, presented with the excellence I've come to expect.
Well done
I am surprised that Ore-Ida got ranked the highest, but frozen fries are what they specialize in.
I still haven't figured out why everyone likes Chick-fil-A's waffle fries so much. They're incredibly bland.
And we do not have a checkers or rallies here so, I cannot try the fries. However, we do have the frozen French fries. I should try their frozen fries, especially if they taste better than the ones from the restaurant... If I ever actually want to buy frozen fries. I'm a lot more likely to buy onion rings, as I love onion rings and always choose onion rings over fries
Seasoning makes a difference. I use McCormick Gourmet cajun seasoning(five guys) season on my fries. So no matter what kind it's always delicious. I do like onion rings but I make my own. If I don't have time to cook, I heat up whatever fry I have and use seasoning stated above.
Since CFA is always busy, you're getting hot/fresh fries from there way more often than other places because they're constantly making fries. People remember that, and their opinion of CFA fries is subconsciously impacted.
@@thejanglezclan makes sense😊
It's the same reason why many people, including myself, like plain potato chips. It's just simply good.
I used to think that frozen fries were all in the same so I would always just get the cheapest one. But then I went back to Ore Ida one time and holy crap it was like night & day!! The cheap kinds are bland and dry and it really is noticeable.
I love frozen fries and I buy the $1.68 bags from walmart. By chance does anybody know if an open bag of frozen fries can be stored for 4 days in fridge (not the freezer)? I'm asking in that my van has a small fridge i keep at like 30F so that can store salad , onions and green peppers for a week. I'd also like to keep otherwise frozen fries and vegan patties and hotdogs. I think it will be fine since veggies, but not sure.
I get the Nathan's fries all the time and think they are great. I cook them in a deep fryer and get a great crispy outside and soft center. They should be much higher on the list.
I love the crispy outside, soft inside of Nathan's. Lol I always buy them.
I LOVE Nathan's fries too!
Nathan's Frozen Fries are delicious and just like you get in a Nathan's. They're my favorite frozen fries.
Have never seen the Nathan fries anywhere in my area thought they only did Nathan branded hot dogs- by far those Checker-Rally fries are the best
Mmmm double deepfried fries
My kids like the Grown in Idaho ones, great taste and texture, always crisp
The first piece of advice I have for anyone who see's this message is buy a deep-fryer and fry with real lard, not oil, especially for french fries, lard cooks at a way lower temperature than oil does, and makes french fries taste the best
Thank you for the good advice 😊
The Checkers (Rally's) fries are the best grocery store fries I've had. They taste awesome from the oven. But, I'm sure if they were deep fried, or maybe even even air fried, they'd taste just like the restaurant.
They’re great in the air fryer
Speaking of Kroger fries, Kroger has the worst tater tots because when I cooked them in my air fryer, they don’t have the same texture as Ore-Ida, they’re not crispy enough, and it tasted like bland mashed potatoes shaped like cylinders. Kroger brand tater tots are making tater tots from the school cafeteria taste good. If you want better tasting tater tots, stick with Ore-Ida.
I was making a bag of Nathan's earlier and thought, "wow, these are the best frozen fries in existence." Lol
I like Nathan’s as well. 👍
Nathan’s are the best fries on the market. If you know how to cook and season them right, which these people obviously don’t know how to do.
@@lanicotton8507 I made some today and I sprinkled some kind of creole seasoning on them and WOW. Delicious 😋
I’ve seen the Nathan fries. I will definitely try them. Thank you so much 😊
@@lanicotton8507 😂 I will definitely try Nathan’s French fries soon
I just had some Ore-Ida french fries in a airfryer they were delicious you didn't steer me wrong LD
Alexia Waffle fries and Checkers fries are my faves. They both have a seasoned batter that makes a fry more than just a bit of potato. But when I want a traditional fry I go for Ore Ida Fast Food Fries.
I agree with all three.
2:24 the best way to cook kroger frozen fries is preheat your air fryer to 400°F instead of 360°F. Cook for 15-20 minutes depending on the size of the fries
"It's always worth the trip to get your hands on those *bad boys* " might be the cringiest thing I've ever heard on this channel.
I totally agree with the #1, although, to me, great value is very good, and a better value.
And I also go for those fried potato curlers over @ TGI Friday's with a great amount of melted cheese and mayo! Boy! That alone suits your tummy perfectly! AWESOMELY DELICIOUS!(",)
It's not much of a surprise that pre fried baked fries aren't as good as at the restaurant.
If the Green Giant called themselves something other than fries they'd be okay. Pretty tasty for what they are just not if you're expecting fries.
Quick and convenient. It's my first air fryer and I'm happy with it. Easy to clean.
Kroger's extra crispy crinkle cut fries are terrific!!
I love Arby's fries they taste good air fryed crisp and favor is awesome
Yes, arbys french fries are definitely one of my favorites
I live near the original Nathan's so frozen Nathan's are never a thought for me. Fresh hot fries are available when I want them. I go for sweet potato tots since they are "different", Alexia are my frozen tot of choice.
I wish I lived closer to a Nathan’s restaurant lol
Whole Foods Market has a store in Bellingham Washington on Lakeway Street, but I normally shop at Fred Meyer which is across the street. Going to a place JUST FOR THE FRIES seems kind of STUPID!
No matter which restaurant fry you pick if I could I prefer my home made fries
Alexia #2 fries REALLY are super and like she said ; " The sweet potato fries 🍟 are awesome."
They must be regional. I’ve not run across them in SE Georgia.
I’ve never seen or heard of alexia fries but I will definitely look for these French fries the next time I go to the grocery store
@@davidlawson4281 I haven’t seen them in Indiana either
I can't agree with the placement of Nathan's. Those fries are amazing when you air fry them just right and then eat them with ketchup. Only downside is how small the bag is..
I love me some Nathan’s fries
@@MsTwiththeTea1980 Ikr, I really can't understand why they'd rank them so low. Made me disappointed 😕
I’ve had them and they were trash, especially compared to other brands. Maybe it’s a quality control thing.
Frozen onion rings from Red Robin sound good!
Nathan’s crinkle cut are the best
5:55 actually, the shoestring ones taste more like McDonald’s. If you fry them rather than bake them, I think they will taste nearly identical. I don’t eat McDonald’s anymore.
Seems like everyone in this comment section who mentioned Nathan's disagrees with their placement here. In all actuality Nathan's fries are my favourite of all the commercial brands with the exception of Grown In Idaho. They're not horrible coming out of the Toaster Oven, but of course deep fried is best. Why the Nathan's bias, Mashed?
I call shenanigans, great value crinkle fries are bland and dry and should be at the bottom. Also the arby's fries are dope
Wendy's fries are better than they were. Arby's recently came out with a tasty crinkle cut. Alexia Yukon Gold oven fries are my favorite.
What about the Ore-ida microwave fry? I’ve tried them as only 4 minutes to prepare.
I would not even consider a microwaved FF.
Ora ida texas crispers are the best! But I think they discontinued them.
They may be back one day. A lot of lines are deprioritized, but not discontinued due to potato shortages. Hoping the crop this year has a higher yield.
Never forget elementary school french fries!
It was very delicious
I also work in the field
Thank you for your opinion about my food

The Or-ida is the BEST brand of Frozen French fries 🍟 😋 😍 ❤️💛
Ore-ida Texas crispers or tater tots but all other brands are landfill
Ore Ida fries are the best 😋
Easy to make your own.
Well that was an interesting Orida ad.
Hands down Checkers are the best I've ever tasted and I deep fry them. I've tried several of the Ore-Ida and for my money Checkers are still the best by far. TheReaper!
Who ever made this review ❤Good stuff 😀👌🏾🍟
Alexia is way too expensive at 6.99 a 15-ounce bag of French fries and I can get a 32 once bag of Ore Ida for 3.99.
Nathan’s are the best frozen fries
Great value fries are the best.
Checkers. Then everyone else
Hi.Everbody have their own taste so what bad for you is good for somebody else. Even if the comparison is a 90 to 10%.If something is so bad normally they take it of the menu.
Rallys fries are the best
Publix fries ARE great.
Ore-ida Extra Crispy Fast Food Fries is my go-to pick for french fries and I like Alexa best for tots and (especially) onion rings.
oh come on, Frozen Arby's seasoned curly fries are delicious.
Checkers fries 🍟 🤤
Watch the pro chef evaluate fries. Red Robin was well liked.
Triple cooked steak fries done in a good old English place greasy as ever
I don't ever have a problem with Nathans. But it's Checkers, all the way. How much did Ore-Ida pay you guys?
Nathan's fries haters need to look at the "calories" and "sodium" sections of the nutrition label.
Just air fry it for longer and add some salt after. Not that difficult.
They put Walmart brand fries above grown in Idaho. List dismissed.
Checkers are best, then Nathan’s. I’ve tried them all, I wanted to like Alexia but they are just eh. Ore-Ida are like tasteless cardboard. So fake, especially the tater tots.
Just buy Red Robin's (or whatever they're called) seasoning. You can't season fries before you deep fry them in any case. You should always season _after_ frying. smh
I love nathan friesc
Arby's fries are better then McDonald's fries.
Wendys new crispy fries are better than all the rest, period
@@porkbelly0713 Whatever you say, pal.
I like Kroger fries, you you have to cook them in oil deep fried. Any other method you will have poor results.
🤣🤣"their weiners can't be beat."🤣🤣
mine can be. LOL
@@mikenonya6382 🤣🤣
People really out here putting frozen fries in ovens, microwaves and air fryers... PUT THEM IN DEEP FRYERS YOU BAFFOONS.
McMain is the greatest
asda price are terrible
Alexia Sweet Potato Waffle Fries
Look up the meaning of the word “alexia”
Not as good as the waffle fries from Chickfila? So, they have even less flavor?
McCain!!!
what's all this talk about air-frying? boiling oil, FTW
Hi 😚
McCain quick cook fries are oily and greasy. Nasty. This list is ass backwards. Lots of the best ones they say are the worst 😅😅
Mickey D'z
Omg NO Oreida is gross. I love crinkle fries and there's has a nasty aftertaste doesn't taste like real potatoes
So basically, just go to the real restaurant and get the fries.
So a potato is not a veggie ok
Chick fil a’s waffle fries are def not good. Lol are you kidding me? Always undercooked. Imagine in N Outs fries but waffled. Crap. 😂
Kroger has amazing crinkle cut fries. Y’all just don’t know how to cook
Good luck finding Checkers, Rallys, Sonic, Arby's, even Wendy's. LGBFJB!
Don't eat carbs
Don't eat too many carbs.
Alexa is the worst . Super overrated
Fries are fries
Most wrong comment on YT.
Quit watching since NO mention of ingredients 👎
voice over is so annoying i couldn't get past one minute
WRONG
Carbs 🤦♂️
