    Our Rating System:
    We are both firm believers that it is unjust to review and rate an album after only hearing it one or two times therefore our method for reviews is much different than everyone else on RUclips.
    Our review process starts off with a "listening session" where we hear the entire album from beginning to end, uninterrupted. We then post a video with our initial thoughts and opinions of the album. Over the course of a week we will each listen to the album as many times as we can, analyzing and critiquing it. Then at the end of the week we will post our full and final review of the album which will include our ratings.
    Our scoring method is unique to this channel as well. We each rate the album out of 10 but anything 8 and above simply just gets our Toe Tag. In order for an album to make it onto the list above it must receive Two Toe Tags. It if only gets one or none then it does not make our coveted list.
    Any album that receives Two Toe Tags is considered a top quality album of elite status and highly recommended by both of us. Be sure to Subscribe and turn on Notifications so you will always be in the loop with all the awesome metal we review!
    NOTICE: This is not a news/info channel. We are not a RUclips version of Wikipedia for the bands that we discuss. There will be some videos, especially Reactions, where we get some facts or information wrong. Please understand that our purpose is simply to react to the video and not to spread knowledge about the band. We have not, nor will we ever state incorrect facts. If we are unsure of things we will be clear that we are unsure and by all means, feel free to correct us in the comments below.

    I agree with your comments and i love As i lay dying.. they do what they do very well and im sure it has something to do with record label wanting them to be a marketable product. Im just making assumptions but yes they stay in the pocket of what they do. But i still love them, cus when you hear an as i lay dying song. There is no mistaking who it is. A lot of bands try to step out and it ruins them. Maybe why AILD has been so relevant in metalcore for so long now. If it aint broke dont fix it. Theyre checks still cash im sure.

    Ive listened to them from the beginning and have absolutely loved everything they put out, I do agree they have a certain sound, but they kill it and it's their sound. I feel like a lot of bands are stepping out of their comfort zone a little too much.

      I agree, and some of the new sounds bands are putting out are very good, while others should rethink their approach. But what I hate is that bands can't win! When they change their sound fans bitch & moan & generally trash them. While bands that keep on killing it with their unique but same sound get picked apart by "critics" who have self-appointed themselves as influencers. I think if we all just enjoyed the music it would be better.

      Yeah I don't agree that in order to consider them a great band they must step out of their comfort zone. They just need to sound great and they do, and I do kinda agree that the songs in that album sound similar but I mean that's kind of expected since all of them are part of the same theme and in the same album for a reason!

      @@Stargate971 Yeah I have seen way too many reviews of songs / albums I loved give major criticism almost to the point where you think they hate it, all just because the band won't change their formula / sound. It really annoys me and in my head when I listen to the review i'm like... but did you forget to say that it's a fucking awesome song / album anyway? Like why couldn't they just admit it's awesome and then add their nitpicking gripes about how they wanted the band to change it's style? Usually it's just " meh, it's okay, but they should have changed their style. 6/10" lol

    I find it funny that people will dog on bands like As I Lay Dying for being formulaic, but then praise Metallic as metals Gods. Every Metallica song sounds the same.

      It's funny you say that even though every one hated on Metallica for experimenting with load and reload and just wanted them to do pure thrash again. Bands really can't win with that, if the music sounds good it sounds good.

    Shaped by Fire is actually a pretty amazing album, AILD's 3rd or 4th best probably. It's hard to beat Shadows or Ocean Between. I think they did try to step out of their comfort zone a little bit on the Awakened album and it ended up being one of their weaker releases. Nothing wrong with finding your groove and sticking with it, take Pantera for example.

      They have some good songs, but for the most part in this genre, just okay.

    • @joshalan5125
      @joshalan5125 4 года назад

      I'm not a metalcore guy at all so I have to agree with you. The only band in that genre I like is Parkway Drive and thats just their newer stuff which is drifting away from the "core" aspect. I think what I normally dont like about metalcore is the wailing emo vocals in the clean singing and the overall "choppiness" in the breakdowns and riffs; just not catchy to me. Give me thrash and groove metal over metalcore any day.

    • @jasonlovesmusicreacting882
      @jasonlovesmusicreacting882 4 года назад

      @@joshalan5125 See, I'd agree with you but then there's bands like Killswitch Engage, Phinehas, August Burns Red, Silent Planet, Knocked Loose, Counterparts, Norma Jean, and Every Time I Die who bring in the riffs, even if it's not vocally your cup of tea. I would say SP is the only one I mentioned that has a bit of a high pitched vocal thing, but who's to say that's a bad thing? No one ever gave Coheed And Cambria flack for that. And for the most part, most of the bands I mentioned use gang vocals mainly as their clean section.
