- Brett Cross is a small-town kid who grew up in Western Texas, among the oil fields, near Odessa. He worked in the oil fields, worked his way up to doing pipeline work, eventually moving to green energy work. He even became a foreman, working hard to provide for his family. And Brett was at work when he got the call from his wife Nikki that changed their lives forever. It was May 24, 2022, Nikki was at their sons’ school, Robb Elementary, in Uvalde, Texas. “This is not a fucking joke,” she said, “there’s a shooter at the boys’ school.” We talk to Brett about his life before, about living in a small town, working and making your own fun, we talk about some of the family memories he cherishes most. We remember Brett and Nikki’s son Uziyah “Uzi” Garcia, we talk about the day Uzi was taken from them, along with 18 of his classmates and two of his teachers, and we talk about the unimaginable fight for justice and real change that Brett and Nikki have been fighting ever since.

I left out the governor and the Director of the DPS. They should’ve resigned in shame.
Thank you for this. 💔
I'm in Vegas. Brett, I've been listening from day one. I know ALL your children's names, all you parents names, community members willing to step up..... You all have and continue to live through hell I can't imagine. I'm a struggling alcoholic, but with your bravery, commitment, dedication you have inspired me to continue with my battle with this disease. I had placed myself in therapy just prior to your, our tragedy to get better for my family. I wasn't ordered to. I took the courage to initiate it on my own, but you, your wife, Uzi, your family have given me so much strength to keep pushing through my battle every single day.
I just wanted to express my gratitude and genuine heartfelt.. I don't know a good word to describe what you've done for me and my family. Your advocacy and dedication has inspired me to be a better person, mother... Everything. Thank you!
Powerful story.
This was a very real conversation. Thank you for sharing, for having this conversation where we could listen.
Brett mentioned in one of his interviews something along the lines of…
people wanting to believe that the people they grew up with were not this cowardly.
I really appreciated that he said that. Hope he keeps fighting for these injustices.
@@Cornycornbread296When the Uvalde police force resembles a police force from a banana Republic, what did you expect was going to happen? 🍌👎👎
77 minutes!! 😯Hmm 🤨Interesting.🧐
Why the heck are the views and comments soo low???
RIGHT???!!!!
And, Uzi's Dad, as you said you'd prefer to be called, the reason i spiralled into alcohol addiction is due to me being sexually assaulted on the job, on camera.... I was called in for 5 discipline meetings (all of which i have on audio on my phone as this is a one party state) and summarily fired within 8 days... NEVER be silent! Right is right, wrong is wrong....
If you don't know your rights, you have no rights!!!!!
I refuse to say the three words that disgust me (thoughts and prayers) because its deafening and sick to me, but please know you all are in my heart ❤️
Anyone know what happened to the 45 year old male shooter/alleged shooter that Uvalde held in police custody for killing 2 adults and injuring 12 children as reported by KSAT-12,KENS-5, MSM and Uvalde police dept facebook page?.... Also reported by said above that injured children were being removed through broken windows and rushed to local hospital's via ambulances and helicopters.... Anyone have a link to images/video of ambulances/helicopters?.... why the ever changing news reports?.....
Of all the victims one had blonde hair, that's it. Just one. All the rest would appear to be males and females from the same demographic. And yet I do not remember any of the news stories mentioning that this was considered a targeted event. I wonder why.
Because it wasn’t. Stop lying.
@@vincentyoung8472 I'm not lying about 21 of the 22 who were unalived. All 21 were hispanic or latino/latina. Under any other circumstances the headlines for this sad event would mention 21 of 22 were all the same background/heritage. I do not understand what the problem is. But I did give you a thumbs up!
@@tarico4436 stop lying.
Maranda Mathis also had blond hair too
@@tarico4436The perpetrator was hispanic too. Uvalde , like many cities across the southwest, is 80% hispanic...... I'm surprised there was even a White person at that school
Unfortunately, your son won’t be remembered, and neither will you. One or two generations, and you will join the void. That is the darkness of time as we know it.
Quit lying.
@@tarico4436 prove me wrong, genius…
@@There-ought-to-be-clowns Read the two responses to my other comment, then you will see what I was doing and then you will at least smirk, probably laugh out loud if you have a sense of humor.
@@tarico4436 Whoops. Sarcasm. Now I get it. My bad.
@@There-ought-to-be-clowns Hehe. I have serious opinions about these mass unaliving events, but it seems that all sides currently have their feet dug in, nobody's budging, everything staying the same.
