The design of the mk1 hyundai i10 i20 is extremely problematic and poor. One bolt to secure a shock in place? Really Hyundai?!!! Just to get one shock out after other securing bolts were removed took me 2 hours! Be warned if buying a mk1 I'd say avoid and buy a more modern car and avoid the hassle. Even the mount components of the mk1 i20 1.2 petrol (09 especially) only come as a 3 piece! Lower mount, top mount hub, and bearing. As an engineer, I have never seen this. The space between the top mount hub and the lower mount when assembled on the car is way too much. As much as an inch! The arch steel is only a few mm. Any wonder these mounts fail and knock! The reason they do not mate properly is because of a fastener nut bigger than my own left one. Almost every other car manufacturer design does not have this problem. What big knob at Hyundai decided this was a brilliance of a design! What a tosser. Causing me a fucking heartache fixing their fuck up. Now, I have to design a spacer from metal or rubber to close the distance between the two.
Don’t put grease on the top mount, it’s designed to be dry
Its not for lubrication. When the rubber mount is dry, it produce certain noise while turning... This grease is affectively cancel that sound. 👍
