THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES. BACK IN MY YOUNG DAYS, 40+ YEARS AGO, I HIKED ALL OVER THE GUADALUPES, FROM THE BOTTOM TO THE TOP WHERE THERE ARE PINE FORESTS. I I GREW UP SOUTHWEST OF THERE IN SIERRA BLANCA TX.

Wow!, I cannot imagine 40 years ago! It is beautiful wilderness now, I bet it was really pristine then! 🙂

We live about a half days drive from Guadalupe and have never been even though we've traveled around most of NM and west Texas. Your video inspired me to go see this beautiful Nat'l park and we weren't disappointed. A hidden gem for sure!

Not to brag, well only a little brag, I did the hike to the top of Guadalupe Peak 8,700 some feet up there, back in 2015 at 57 years old. I trained up by walking up and down my hill I live on, and it came in handy. But, boy was that an adventure, and the change in the habitat ecology was so fascinating. It went from desert, to just rocky and windy, to Ponderosa Pines, to grassy and windy, to rocky and windy, to cold and windy. I did it in Apr 15, so about the same time of year you was there. One of best views I've seen, and It was so cool. I felt like doing the Rocky jog at the top! Don't know if I could do it now...I'd like to think I could....but I agree with you, the McK. Canyon would be where I would head. I started on it on a 2nd visit, but didn't go far, because we were on traveling. Glad you enjoyed the Frijole Springs site; I also like that too. Good place for a picnic. Thank you for doing a video on this wonderful park.

I first hiked McKittrick canyon in the 90 s. Surprisingly, it has not deteriorated much, unlike other National Parks trails. I always hike at least to the cabin. Highly recommend trail.

Thanks for the video. The last time I was at Guadalupe Mountains NP was in 1984, when the park was still relatively new. So much has changed, some good and some not so good. That big visitor's center didn't exist and they didn't charge a fee for campsites or backcountry permits. I'm glad I was able to visit the park in its infancy and enjoyed you showing how its developed.

Yes, it is amazing what is there. I was surprised to see what was hidden deep in those canyons. A great park to visit indeed. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the tour, nice video. We were there last year but because of fire danger we couldn't access the areas you went to. We did the Devil's Hall hike. Pretty amazing scenery, we had a great time.

Great video of an awesome place. I have been there many times and climbed Guadalupe 8 times. It is the highest peak in Texas. I think you got the names of the peaks mixed up. But no biggie. You two would have really loved the hike up McKittrick Canyon to the Pratt cabin. The stream runs down near the cabin and it is a pure joy. It is a hard climb up out of the canyon and up into the bowl. But it is worth the effort. They piped water from the stream up into the bowl where they had huge holding tanks to store it. The ranch ran sheep up in the bowl. Great job

It is an awesome place! I wish we would have had more time. If we had known just a little more about it, we would have started with the McKittrick Canyon hike. It is amazing what you see in those canyons! It's like a hidden world! Maybe we can get back another time. Thanks for watching!
