Brian Slattery - interview + tunes

Brian Slattery is a wonderful oldtime fiddle and banjo player heavily indebted to the style of oldtime that originated in Ithaca, New York. But his musical influences span far, far wider than just Ithaca including swing, Eastern European music, West African, Zimbabwean, and a range of African-American musics, just to name a few. Here Brian sat down for an interview and a few tunes at the 2019 Clifftop festival.

Last year I saw a YT video from a jam at Clifftop. Not sure now what year it was from. Roger Netherton was fiddling. And there was this guy just mashing on the banjo. I thought 'who IS that guy??'. Now I know, it was Brian. I appreciate that Old Time Central did this interview. I found it to be very meaningful. OT with a Howard Zinn element. And some amazing fiddling. Thank you!!
