    *ALERT MESSAGE!*
    Dear community,
for the very first time ever, I decided to take down one of my videos. It pertains our most recent "ABBA Location Tour - The Hotel & Abba Car 1975 | Then & Now 4K".
However, it was for the sake of creating *this* brand new version - expanded and updated. Too many information came up, fascinating stories, anecdotes, observations, and above all, very important amendments.
This new video runs almost 5 minutes longer. It features:
    • more insights into the "Hotel" shoot
    • more context & mystery surrounding the "Car" location spot
    • story from one of the "Fans" looking at ABBA in the "Car"
    • more observations on the overall album visuals
    • the correct identification & story of the car, and its fascinating whereabouts!
This album and the visuals are so iconic, mythic, and this was important to me.
Please consider giving this video a 2nd chance. *This* is the ultimate version now. Thank you!

Good work! I was in a Payless Drug store in about 1974. I bought the album of which I believe I've owned 3 or 4 of the same album. The amber lighting in the photos was what attracted me. I painted an oil in 1980s of the girl with the full bangs piering through the window of the Rolls. The painting was stolen around 2012 when I lost my home. Really good of you to do this 74/75 walk back in time. IM JUST EATING IT UP. THE GIRL IN THE BACK WINDOW OF THE ROLLS LOOKS LIKE AN ACTRESS FOR ALICE IN WONDERLAND. I GOT THE IMPRESSION SHE MIGHT BE BRITISH, BUT CANNOT VERIFY. WONDERFUL FOR YOU TO HAVE TAKEN A LOOK BACK TO A 47 ROLLS AND 30S ISH HOTEL. VERY EXCELLANT WORK! WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS AGAIN IF POSSIBLE? I WAS A DIE HARD ABBA FAN IN 1970S THROUGH 1990S. I STILL CANT GET ENOUGH OF THEM, I MISSED MY CHANCE WHEN THEY WERE AT PORTLAND OR. MEM. COLLESEUM IN 1980. I TOOK GUITAR LESSONS AND SOS WAS ONE OF THE FIRST ELECTRIC GUITAR SONGS I LEARNED ON THE CREAM COLORED TELECASTER. THANKS FOR DOING THIS TRIPPY LURCH BACK IN ABBAS HEY DAY!😅

This album was a very big success in Australia and New Zealand long before 'The best of" and 'Arrival".In Australia it sold about 600K copies that was really huge regarding the population of the country (about 14millions 1975-76) not to mention the sales it managed in Sweden that was nearly 500,000 copies. That was again very big!

Thanks a lot for the video! The first time I saw this cover, it was about 1996, when I was a schoolboy (but already ABBA fan). I remember that I was looking at the cover and was thinking: "Who are the people outside the car? Who is the driver in the uniform? Why are ABBA so overdressed?" After all these years I got an answer ;) Thank you very much and best wishes from Moscow!

Even more fascinating and informative than your previous version - thank you Bobby's B! I remember vividly listening to this album when I had saved up enough pocket money to buy it in the later-70s - what a pleasant discovery it had been of the bombastic sing-along "Hey Hey Helen" and one of their most underrated singles "Rock Me" - which was released in very few countries as a single and which only became known to me when they performed it on a TV special filmed for the Aussies in 1976. Those were the halcyon days of discovering the exuberant shimmering sound of ABBA and their harmonies and catchy choruses!! THANKS again - this was a wonderful imaginary memory trip for me, alongside them in that elegant Rolls Royce! ❤

    Hello Bobby's brother,
As someone born in 1964, I consider myself a witness to the ABBA era and have been a fan since April 6th, 1974. I must say, as a much younger ABBA fan, you're doing an incredibly fantastic job here as a RUclipsr. I still remember vividly when ABBA's third album was released. Here in Germany, the album also came out as a club edition of a book club under the title "Mamma Mia," but the cover was the same, just with an ugly lettering added by the club. I received this album as a gift when I was 11 years old. As a child, I initially thought it was a cover version. In the 70s, there were MCs and LPs from EUROPA that weren't original recordings. Years later, I finally treated myself to the original LP. Of course, the club edition was also sung by ABBA themselves. However, the cover didn't fit into my collection. Now I have both. 😊

Thanks a lot for another great video. I think the cover is also a reference to the song "Man In The Middle". "Did you see that man in the limousine.." the song about rich guys with pretty ladies.

thank you for the update B.B.!! All this time looking at the photo, and never noticed Agnetha's left hand, around Frida, resting on the back of the seat. I mean, I think subconsciously I did. Any how, it sure sort of gives you a glimpse at what she was feeling at the time. 🤩👍💅 and yes, those are the same outfits on the front as they are the back. That fur coat is resting on the suit case on the back cover, and Frida has it on in the car. And Agnetha just pushed the green dress up, Probably so it wouldn't snag. Outstanding video!! Thank you again, for this!!✌🙏👍

Fascinating! The windows on the album cover could even be wider than the three pains, they seem rather small if they were to be that size? I've always loved this artwork, so grandiose and pompous; and I've always been intrigued as to know who the people are on the cover, especially the girl in the window on the left, and the lady in the black dress on the right of the album cover. I don't know why them in particular, but they always stuck out as 'the stars' along with ABBA! 😂

My goodness the detail that you give us is incredible. This album cover has always been my favourite but it’s also been so mysterious until now. I am amazed that the hotel staff didn’t know of their famous history.
I too have longed for an alternative photo of ABBA with the car. At the same time it keeps the cover unique. Surely there must be more people who were there and remember the day.

  • @marikesl

This is such a fascinating location tour for me, as this is one of my favorite ABBA album covers/artworks!!! I love the insight that ABBA's chique and sophisticated clothes and the pompous look of the hotel could be read as an ironic comment on their critics accusing them of only caring about commercialism - so clever!!! For me, the cover and artwork has been a reflection of one of the actual songs on the album, "Man In The Middle", since I first heard it, as it also has social commentary on the ambiguity of luxury in the lyrics: "If he's ninety-five she don't give a damn / Just as long as he pays the bill / But you see that man made a big mistake / He can buy the most, nearly anything / But he can't buy an honest friend". And the very first line of the song talks about "that man in the limousine" - maybe that limousine is ABBA's car on the cover?

Great video and reallly astonishing that no alternate shots of the shooting appeared anywhere... the dresses are the same, the boa and the fur are on the back cover as well... the fur to Frida's feet and featherboa on Björn's chair.... and of course Agnetha had no other option sitting in that - let alone getting in and out - by ripping up the skirt abover her knees... so the dresses are the same... and given the not so high budgets at the time, i could assume they did all in one day.......

...I admire you so much of how you come up with these ideas concerning our heroes, then to research and plan your commentry and then on to the filming(not forgetting all the edits and voice overs,).What you unveil to us on each post is outstanding, the amount of content you give to your ABBA community is highly anticipated as you are so likable and professional..i hope you have as much fun making them as we do watching it. 😄.... When i bought this LP i dissected all of the images as up until then i hadn't seen any photos where they had legs!, they were always chopped off at their waists!...i remember having to put my left ear on the speaker on the radiogram to really appreciate the backing tracks and to learn the lyrics! ...ooh such innocent times back in the early 70's...thank you again BB for yet another fascinating, appealing post.. 👏👏...PS... I've often thought you have a soft calming voice, that would sound great going down the meditation mind- fullness route! 🙏😄💞🤗

Well the three matching windows to the left of the ones you thought were too high, they are nearer the ground. I bet that was the building. The colour and surface texture may have been redecorated since 1975. In fact, I believe the car was located exactly where the photographer said, but the windows are being seen across the road, further away, so they are the windows you thought. Bingo!

As you I couldn't locate the windows in the background. And, why renting a room for make up and dressing, if Baldersgatan 1 is around the corner. That makes no sense. The windows you found look like the one on the cover, but Baldersgatan 1 is even closer. I think its somewhere else. But I want to find it out. What do you think? Any new Ideas.
