I dehydrate slices too and put them on my husbands sandwiches in winter: the mayo on his sandwich mostly rehydrates it but mainly he says it has true tomato taste.

OMG! I have never seen anyone use the handheld to vacuum seal jars! I am SO bummed I didn't see this BEFORE I bought the big FoodSaver machine to do this! :( I already had the handheld. :( I am very disappointed in FoodSaver for lack of advertisement on their website on what the handheld does and also better advertisement with the vacuum sealer lids and how to use them with which methods/machines. Where I live I have no storage space everything is on wire shelving. I research everything for days and weeks before I purchase and never came across this. I just love you and your videos. Thank you so much! You are a great teacher and I am old enough to be your mother! LOL :)

I have been using a food saver for sealing food in bags as well as sealing canning jars airtight for over 25 years. Always handy in a drawer and ready to use in my kitchen. Mades dehydrating and preserving food soooooo much easier (and WAY cheaper than using oxygen absorbers) I cannot imagine life without one. I had no idea that little hand held thing sealed lids too.... very nice! 😊

Is there anything you can't do! You amaze me and make me want to learn and do what you do. :-) I have got to get me a dehydrator and food saver. In the videos I've seen, the food savers have a clear cord that hooks on the food saver and into the hole on the lid. Love all of your videos. You should write a book on canning, dehydrating, spices, etc. I would def buy it. They teach me so much! God bless you and all you do.

Hi, I too make all kinds of powders! Kale powder is awesome! Tomato powder is so delicious especially if you use it in the meat juices when you add green beans to a roast. Adding the powder makes a gravy for the entire meal and it is luscious! It's a great way to sneak in extra veggies. You can thicken your soups as this powder will thicken as well...gravy consistency! I imagine every dehydrated veggie can be powdered. Dehydrated peppers, like cayennes I drop into my dills and bread and butter peppers...snap a whole dehydrated cayenne pepper with peppercorns and turmeric into your dill pickles along with fresh dill. These pickles are delicious and beautiful! Isn't canning fun and delicious for you and your family?

I have just 3 trays going on my dehydrator that hopefully will be ready to be pulverized tomorrow. Still praying for miracles for you and your family, Heather!!! 💕 I ran across this video as I’m considering purchasing a dehydrator. I saw another video where the lady dehydrated celery and made celery powder and she ground it up in a coffee grinder and it seemed to come out perfect. Less volume to deal with and less weight on our bodies...easier clean up too. Love & prayers!!! 💕
P.S. do you reseal your jars each time you use a little food from them, and if you do, can you reuse the rubber rim lids?

I just canned homemade tomato sauce for the first time yesterday. Used a Victorio grinder for the tomatoes. Then I dehydrated the skins, etc. Am finishing up canning more sauce today. Then I'll make the dehydrated stuff into tomato powder. Thanks for this vid. Came at the perfect time. I can't believe that after canning only cut up tomatoes and pickled beets (using water bath system) for over 45 years, I'm venturing into new things. I bought a pressure canner and am really enjoying canning new stuff. I also recently bought the Foodsaver vacuum system and the Excalibur dehydrator. Blamed it all on these YT videos! :-) Even the comments for this video are so helpful! At first, I was upset that my husband continues to plant 20 tomato plants. What on earth??? Now I'm like...hmmmm...maybe you should plant more next year! We've had a garden for over 45 years! This is just way too much fun! Thanks again for taking time to make these videos. I pray your shoulder pain subsides...and also that you'll realize you need to heed the warnings and rest it. By the way...I don't see the references to the two YT'bers channels that you mention in this video. Am I missing it or did you forget? :-)

    Lol, your so Cute*
Good luck with trying just once. When you start your garden you will be hooked. We ended up planting 16 Roma's, lol and that's not including the other Varieties.
You need to try roasting some and freezing. Or store in olive oil in fridge.
You did a Wonderful* job Heather*
I don't use Absorbers eighther. I use my Seal- A- Meal as well.
Another fun* thing to dehydrate is chilies. I do them in slices. And also ground into powder.
Some my family back home can't have the store bought powders because of the salt etc. I used to make and mail them some powdered chilies for seasonings. You will find so many options , lol 🤣
    HUGS*💞🦋
I HOPE YOU HEAL COMFORTABLY ♥️

Thanks for sharing Heather. I learned about tomato powder from Mandy as well last year! I made some & it really adds nice flavor to everything, I use it mostly in spaghetti sauce & chilli. Due to such a hot summer here, I haven't canned or dehydrated anything, but as soon as the weather starts to get cooler, I'm canning & dehydrating on a weekly until I get my pantry restocked. I have tons of produce from my garden in my freezers. When you have your garden, you're going to really enjoy having fresh veggies anytime, I love it!
    Hugs from Virginia 😙

Got to thinking you know we cooked tomatoes down to make sauce and that’s even more concentrated than the tomatoes why not try dehydrating tomato sauce and I did it it takes longer than the tomatoes do you know it makes such a deeper redder sauce than just a straight dehydrated tomatoes and an even better powder! Just wanted to give you that little tip so take it for what it’s worth mama hope you’re well Take care

I'm so excited about dehydration I've always loved doing it but I'm looking at yours and I'm going to have to invest in a much better dehydrator. I'm going to have to invest in a much larger hydrator than the little thing I have. I didn't have fresh tomatoes but I dehydrated cans of stewed tomatoes that I got on sale. Omg I love it!! Now just sad I didn't buy more cans while on sale but regardless I'll buy them at reg price...its that good because I'm cheap lol
I have used so much of it & it's only been about 3 weeks.
Ohh & I did some marshmallows...I wanted to eat all 10oz of them crunchy goodies. LOL
Now marshmallows are on my shopping list with the tomatoes. 😏😂 love Mandy too as I do you

Heather: I used coffee filters cut to fit my jar attachments. It will prevent any powder from being sucked up into your vacuum sealer. I don't know if the one you have is actually strong enough to do that but a regular vacuum sealer will actually suck the powder up into your machine.

What-a great idea! To my knowledge, the handheld doesn’t suck up the powder BUT i just bought a vacuum sealer off of fb marketplace from a local mama in my area. I need to buy the tubing. This is a great hack to prevent that if I ever use my big machine! So thank you!!!!!

The best way to get the juice out of the tomato. and use it as a V8 drink this also help cut down cooking time and make a thicker sauce. is to Freeze them, then let them thaw out, by blending them let it set. All of the juice will come out of the tomato. Don't throw the juice away, Freeze it back for V8, and things even soups > i use the skins and seeds in my sauces and things. To get more vitamins ~ Its silly to go threw them and throw them away

Hey, watched your tomato powder segment yesterday and loved it. My question is, Can I Dehydrate regular, (meaning a basic no-taste store bought tomato), dehydrate it and get the flavor factor of a heritage tomato. I know that sounds like a stupid question but my Drill Instructor told me 59 years ago that there are no stupid questions. Semper Fi.

I add it to my homemade salsa. I find myself talking to the tv when I see people throw the skins away after processing tomatoes.
