PLEASE NOTE - Generally speaking, HIKING ON THE ARCHES in the NPS is prohibited. HOWEVER, the park authority at the visitor center specifically promoted this hike to us by the opportunity to walk on Cassidy Arch. I verbally emphasized this twice in the video. "Cassidy" is unlike most arches because it's on level surface with the rock outcropping that you traverse to get there - no "climbing" is necessary. For what it's worth, all my Internet research supports the above. "You can even hike over the arch, something you can’t do at other national parks" (capitolreef.org). Still, please always respect the park rules and verify them for yourself with a NP Ranger if you visit.

Thanks for adding this AND the note about drone footage shot OUTSIDE park to the video and comments. Similar information is on every sign and brochure in the park. It's good you let others know you followed the rules

I really appreciate you noticing, commenting and affirming this! Regardless of whether or not we agree, the rules should be followed (for people safely and protection of the park and respect toward others) and I humbly hope to be a good example for others who watch the videos. Thanks again and have a blessed weekend!

Dude... lead the way. From just outside Philly... Wife and I will be in Capital Reef October 13, first stop on our journey back to Moab. Oddly planning the same trails and the same stop at Gifford House? for pies. How was the pizza? If good, where is it at? On the way to Moab planning to hike Ding and Dang Canyon and Little Wild Horse... The videos are awesome. CLICK THE BELL PEOPLE!

Capitol reef is such a great underrated National Park. Both the hikes you did are very awesome! You can't go to Capitol Reef without having the pie! It definitely taste fresher than its traditional fruit pie and they are to die for! When you did the Hickman Bridge And your buddy said we don't want to end up going on a longer trail, If you ever get the opportunity one day that trail is called the Navajo knobs trail and it's hard as hell with steep elevations gains but it's a phenomenal hike. Thanks for sharing and great job on the video as always.

Great stop at Capitol Reef! The Cassidy Arch is definitely one that requires a good cardio and so worth it! We didn't know you could go on top - we will have to do it next time! We love working our taste buds! We visited in November and the pie shop was closed 😭 Hickman Bridge is a great hike too. Capitol Reef is where we hiked the most during our road trip (over 37 miles in one week). Completely agree, it is underrated. Have a great week!

    • @AmericasParks
      @AmericasParks  5 лет назад +1

Great comment, thank you! Also for the arch - we were informed you can go on it by a park official. It was even suggested as he promoted the hike. Check for yourselves before you go. Getting conflicting reports on that one. It was weird because the arch was on level ground with the hiking surface. As you saw in the video, I didn't even know we were standing above it. Take care!

Have to add this: you add good places to eat & I agree whole heartedly! A few recommendationd for a happy belly. Below south entrance to Yosemite in Oakhurst (El Cid for huge oval plates of Mexican food). East Glacier: Brownies Hostel & Bakery for snacks! Also, the Whistle Stop restaurant for stuffed (huckleberry) french toast and or omelets. W Yellowstone: Wildwest Pizzeria for terrific Italien & Ernie's for biscuits & gravy ( add egg on top). In Boulder Utah, Burr Trail Grill & Outpost (bagel breakfast sandwiches, grilled chicken sandwiches or cheeseburgers for lunch). Hell's Background in Boulder Mt Lodge great for dinner terrific good but $$$. ...not by bread alone. BON APPETIT! Your favorites??

Watched your "alone together" service on-line Easter message today; we all need inspiration. Thanks. After a short walk at a local state park (Jacobsburg) & getting the lawn mowed before rain tommorrow, found another of your nat'l park treks. A nice way to occupy a bit of time. Also did Hickman arch & Fruita on my first visit to Capitol Reef; the other ventures were in the southern part east of Boulder. Also caught the 2 slots you did along Hole-in- the-Rock Rd. Did you check out Devil's Garden on the way there? I loved that area with its hoodoos, arches and interesting rock formations...just avoid the cow patties!

It's a great little town (albeit, pretty touristy, if you don't mind that) but obviously gets booked up quick for spring/summer/fall visits! If you make it out there, I'd highly recommend the Island In The Sky section in Canyonlands first. Most places are easily accessible by vehicle and small hikes. Hello! Beautiful video and nice drone shots .Editing is well done .We were at the same campground Dukes Slickrocks in Hanksville for two nights last year in September . We did love going in Capitol Reef States park . My editing of this place is coming hopefully before the end of this year .

We were doing all our cooking most of the time in our camping trailer ,but if we would of known about the restaurant we would’ve go !
Believe it or not this place was suggested by a friend that lives in France 🇫🇷 .Michel Lavallée is his name . He has been going to the States since many years and I think he knows more than any Americans. He gave us so much clues before going on our trip it’s incredible, he even send us pamphlets of several parks , desert roads to go and see beautiful views that regular tourist don’t go .He does video on YT witch you can see the places he went . Actually he is traveling from Vancouver Island B.C. heading to Jasper Alberta now and then going back in the northern part of the states .
Here is the link to his channel and he is actually uploading during his trip ...but you won’t hear nothing else but french speaking from France 🇫🇷
      ruclips.net/user/lavallee1000
Have you ever heard of Factory Butte and the Skyline View Overlook that is close to Dukes Slickrocks campground ? This place was suggested by him also .
Go and take a look on Google Earth if you have a chance .
It’s just awesome...it’s even nicer than the Grand Canyon almost according to me , because you’re alone and it’s in a desert surrounded by endless canyons ....it’s WoW 😲The colors are different than the Grand Canyon there are less red ( more sanded colors) but so Grandiose!
I am so anxious to edit the rest of our trip...but so much to do as well ...gonna have to work day and night! Lol! 😂
You have such beautiful landscape in your country !
      Thanks for your sub !

Just did both of these hikes a couple weeks ago! Standing on top of Cassidy Arch feels so much safer than the spot where you view it from....that spot is sketchy! We also did the 80 mile Cathedral Loop, which was epic!

So cool to hear! Really enjoy reading about the unique experiences from other hikers! Yes, totally agree - the surface of the arch itself was very wide and level - much unlike the other side. ...and the 80 mile loop - awesome!!! Sure does make me want to go back! lol!
