- Here are 29* survival tips for dont starve together that I have learned thoughout my 1600+ hours on the game. These are survival tips and I dont consider my self an expert at this game just at surviving cause its my favorite thing to do :)

Using a lightbulb to ward off the dark is underrated throughout the game. A singular bulb wards off Charlie when dropped at your feet.

This wasn't always the case. Deerclops hitbox was a circle just like most other mobs but was changed in 2022.
for anyone wondering, he said on the discord "lifes been busy" after a month of inactivity, then proceeded to dissapear again.
I think the backpacks tip should instead be about how quick equipping a chest slot item will instantly drop the backpack and allow you to use said item. I personally find the extra slots a lot more useful for organising my inventory and especially at the start of the game it lets me explore the map for a better base location while not ignoring the resources on the way. A lot of chest items that arent armour (which you wouldnt be using considering football helmets exist) are useful utilities during specific situations like the amulets. Taking up a slot or two in the backpack still leaves you with 4 slots for healing foods or tools.
i always have my Armor in my Backpack,so i can switch it by equipping the armor or picking up the backpack and put the armor back in the backpack
Tip 28 is a trap. While the logic is sound, my experience of running from world to world led me only to a burnout from the game, as I restart the world for a thousandth time
1) Use rollback. I couldn't get into many of the mechanics, creating a new world after each death. But when I started rolling back after death to replay the day so that I didn't die, I could finally enjoy the game.
2) Use f (and ctrl+f) to attack, shift+right click to drop items, hold your cursor on important item in your inventory for fast equipping (so, don't use numbers to equip item, it's longer). I didn't know this when I was a beginner, so the game was much harder for me.
3) Use warm clothing at winter and (maybe) summer. Many people advise use thermal stone, so you can equip backpack. But clothings gain brains and keep you warm/cold longer, also it can be repaired with web and teeth, it's simply enough

backpack is a must have.
My personal strat for mining in the dark caves without a lantern is to keep torches and logs on you, then drop just one of your logs and light it ablaze, it should last long enough to mine one or even two of them and that turns ~3 logs into 3-6 gold easy.
Which is why I basically always rush caves if I need gold, even if it's the first few days.
2:53 All the boats in the game have the same speed. The only difference in speed comes from the type of oar, or sail you are using. It just feels faster, because the grass boat looks smaller.
Personally i always carry a backpack with me for certain items like flint, grass and twigs for making tools on the go. I also carry chest slot stuff with me in the backpack so i can just swap it out when i need to.
Pro tip: eat the fridge as WX-78

Btw : when you do decide to place your one man band inside hutch hell give you 40sanity/m so its a really really good sanity station but it drains the band's durabilty very quickly

i’m ngl i just got this game like 3 days ago and i’ve been playing Maxwell solo. the craziest part is that i’m actually not getting killed by stuff either i’m on like day 26… but also i’m not really progressing right now- winters got me just trying to make it to the next carrot 💀
also i’m gonna be so fucking real rn; i have no goddamn idea how to get more nightmare fuel but ik i need it to actually make playing as Maxwell worth it

Another tip. Always let people play whatever character they want because they might only have fun playing that character :D unless you play Willow in which case stop playing

Not to ruin on your parade, but the reason noone else dares to do your challenges is because trully experienced players can access the difficulty and construct the run and all the possible nuances in their head without even trying to play it.
Actually good challenges require a lot of practice and hard work to be beaten and you can't just imagen you beat them. Like Guille's no hit boss rush.

To beat DST (Defeating Antient Fuelweaver and Crystal Champion) WITHOUT directional inputs (I can't do it because I play on Nintendo Switch, and I am a relatively new player who is nowhere NEAR skilled enough.)

I don't think people realize how overrated backpacks are. 18 slots is already a lot, and I think challenging yourself to not use a backpack is a good way to make yourself think more about what you're doing, rather than just carrying everything and hoping you didn't forget something.
I feel like calling them overrated and then saying "challenging yourself to not use one" is a strange point to make. If not wearing a backpack could be considered a challenge, then it means the item is powerful and therefore very odd to call overrated.
If you ever want to use your chest slot for armour/an amulet you can very easily just put those in your backpack and then swap to it as needed. Upgrades to the backpack like the piggyback/insulated pack/etc are generally more mid-to-late game items and having easy access to more inventory space in the early game is pretty important.
The only chest slot item I could really see you getting frequent use out of besides a backpack is a mag? but then you can just use a walking cane/lazy explorer to outdo its speed boost and a path if you need to go fast. If you need its light just carry a lantern or miner hat. Its extra speed/light is great for certain situations like boss fights but that still puts it in the category of "just use a backpack and swap to it as needed".
Can you give an example of anything that'd be better to put in your chest slot over a backpack? Obviously in specific scenarios like fights you'll want armour/amulets there but in generic/everyday surviving I don't see the point to equipping anything else

@@DespOIcito theres really no point to extra inventory slots unless youre 1. cluelessly picking up everything 2. trying to get autumn pearl and not playing maxwell. other than that, running out of slots is skill issue. 25% speed boost and light source at all times is hands down the best use for the chest slot
@@salem.88 I feel like you're focusing more on hyper-optimised endgame time over everyday surviving and general use. "Cluelessly picking up everything" is a bizarre way to talk about items in a sandbox game to me. There are so many situations in early, mid, and lategame where you'll want to carry more stuff. Early worlds where you need to carry everything you own before getting chests down, lategame where you have farms that mass-produce desirable resources and can stockpile materials, and just generic mid-game where you don't lose out on anything by having extra space. Hell even in combat it's still useful to have backup items in there in case something goes wrong or not according to plan.
Of course the mag is great and works great for fighting especially, but its speed boost can be outperformed by a cane and a lantern/miner hat can deal with light just fine. Its only upside in comparison to a cane/light source is that it takes up one slot instead of two, but if you're wearing a backpack item that doesn't matter. Having your handslot free from a cane could be an upside but most of the time isn't gonna make much difference imo. If you're using tools you won't be moving much anyway and can just swap to the cane if you need to walk, if you're gathering stuff you'll want the extra space to actually _gather,_ if you're travelling you can use paths with the cane for speed just fine. I only see it being better during fights where you'll have a weapon but that's still a situation where you just carry a mag with you in your backpack and then swap to it when you need to kill stuff. Yes you can combine the speed bonuses for even higher walk speed but in most cases that isn't gonna be very important or significant, and if going fast constantly is that important to you then you could just tame a beefalo and have the additional inventory space with even better speed than what the mag provides.

@graycatsaderow Wes is definitely the hardest character. Warly is very easy and has exclusive dishes, but Wes literally has no benefits except for a small speed boost w/ his balloons
@@graycatsaderow I literally beat Klaus, beequeen, eye of cthulu, twins of terror, clockwork pieces, and dragonfly before winter even started. He's like the easy mode.
