I’m more impressed by the in-tune piccolo. Now that’s rare!
Take a listen to Pedro Eustache from Hans Zimmer's band e.g. the Live in Vienna concert!
He plays The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean etc.
But the vibrato is like too much ketchup on top…
as a flutist, i must say that piccolo was eating the girls up
playing piccolo in tune is one of the hardest things you could ever achieve in life
All of the above. 👍🏻
It might just be the most beautiful horn solo every, but no cover is ever going to top the recorder version of this song.
There's not even a solo going on here, just a standard horn and string section
@@lexruptor the horn has the melody
@Lex Ruptor to a horn section, this is a solo. As a horn player myself, just being the melody instrument is something often marked solo because it's so rare. He's the only horn playing, but the strings are playing too so it's not just him. Yes, it's a solo.
Quit trying to take away credit because this doesn't fit your imaginary definition of solo. Kid's an excellent player and I'd love to see anyone here do better than he did.
Yeah, I think a transcription would help everyone process the majesty of that work
Cannot stop the doot!
In elementary school I wanted to learn to play an instrument. My parents said they could not afford to buy even a used instrument, so borrowed a french horn from the school band inventory. I was told the french horn is the most difficult brass instrument to play, but that did not deter me. The real downside is I had to carry it to and from school everyday from my home a mile and a half away.
At age 71, I am watching this young musician perform the most heavenly part of this song, and it makes me so proud for both of us!
I was blessed to have a grandmother who decided to purchase a horn for me when I was in the 7th grade. I am now 28 years old playing that very same horn. Such a beautiful instrument that has the ability to lift my spirits anytime I play.
As a horn player, that octave leap is the most impressive part of this. So clean you could eat off it.
Light as a feather. Like no struggle at all. With the grace of a well trained human voice.
I don't know if you have a stink note in the high register of your horn, but mine is A and I can't even imagine doing this right 😂
@@hotdog16000 mine is D, for some reason every time I play it it’s just not in tune correctly and sounds more like a note inbetween C and B
@@hotdog16000 my e is all over the place, can’t get it right in tune, depends on the key though.
@Gracey Shaw High A for me too, just really unstable
The French Horn has to be THE instrument among the others in the orchstra that speaks to my soul on a very different level.
Outside of strings, it's one of the closest instruments to the human voice, and it's ability to blend is why it's often included in Woodwind Quartets. Horn is a very old and intrinsic instrument to us, that's partially why it speaks differently to a lot of people.
Robert Schumann said, "The sound of the horn is the soul of the orchestra."
as a trumpet player i completely think you’re full of sh-
but for real i completely agree with you and i also love the sound more than any other instrument
Mike Ehrmantraut is killing it on the drums
LOL I was about to comment this
It's actually Arie Den Boer on drums, but I see the resemblance haha
Waltuh
Waltuh you're gonna miss your cue Waltuh
Hector, See me buff
My best friend played the french horn for Auburn University band all four years of his matriculation. At his wedding, he and three other french horn player/friends of his performed a french horn quartet. I was absolutely shocked how beautiful those instruments sounded.
War eagle
That was worth rewatching a few dozen times, as both a horn player and a lover of the song. The octave jump is doable but a bit of a challenge. I'm more impressed by the player as he looks so young.
oh my god... even HITTING that high A is hard, can't imagine doing an octave leap like that while still keeping a good tone.
I literally just got out of a horn lesson so naturally I tried to play this, and my god that kid has tone.
this is indeed one of the most beautiful horn solos
Such a beautiful tone! 😮💨
Finally something on this channel I can actually play
The octave jump on that A was just…👌 That is HARD to do on a horn, RESPECT for that bro💯
Just casually hits an octave interval effortlessly and so beautifully 😳👏
As a trumpet player that's never played French Horn I can confirm the title (☞ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)☞
As a trumpet player who is also a horn player can confirm this is the most beautiful horn solo.
@@gamertommy4224 as another trumpet and horn player, I can confirm aswell
As a beautiful solo, I can confirm this is a horn
@@Alekskauff nope
@@Alekskauff as yet another trumpet and horn player, i can also confirm
I think im a bit late to the party but i could care less lol
I forgot about this performance. I used to listen to this a lot, but then I completely forgot about. I'm so glad I remember it now lol.
Bro this solo made me cry like crazy
It sounds like when all hope is lost there will always be one bright star
As a horn player that was a really clean top A
Agreed, you tend to go flat on that. Nicely done in this recording.
He looks like every single highschool bully in Disney sitcoms.
I never knew the guy from „we're the millers“ could play horn lol
Omg Will Poulter
not to be that guy BUUUTTT, EVERY horn solo is THE MOST BEUTIFUL horn solo 🥰🥰
Except for mine
@@redcoder09 wrong 😁
The best solo horn and so emotional with the piccolo flute
Such amazing control.
That high a hurt me
Some people really got a bit agitated for this one xD
Relax guys. We all know there is better horn solo out there. Its just this one just simple, but when played right, is beautiful.
Not to mention, the vibe. He looks relaxed, and in tune. And that's all that matters 👍
My brain: "The Most Beautiful Han Solo"
that title is really doing tchaikovsky’s 5th dirty
Yeah. Massively
Finally! A French Horn video!
That octave jump .... hats off
It would be even better if Celine Dion performed this on the french horn!
i don't know why i just imagined her singing through the horn
@@GeorgeCollier like with lips pursed on the mouth piece, or with the mouthpiece in her mouth trying to muffle out the words?
@@GeorgeCollier Like the Lions Roar, from Kung Fu Hustle.
@@y0uraveragejoe She stands on stage holding the mic and the moment she opens her mouth a she sounds like a french horn.
I REALLY need to get myself a horn and get back into playing it.
Just goes to slide how the simplest tunes can be the most beautiful
Bro that's Kenny from "We're the Millers" no one can tell me otherwise!
You guys are getting paid?
CAMIEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
smooth aff the strings sound like they butter and the horn a nice bread
Wonderful
Yes, thank you for for doing my suggestion.
French horn is my second favorite instrument. This was wonderful. (1st is cello)
Is that because you play the cello? In that case, you're forgiven... ;)
@@matthewwallace9280 Yes!
I hope to get this good
Him: How much do you want me to make the audience feel?
Everybody: Yes!
My self esteem has been shattered. Gone. Reduced to atoms.
The age of this kid playing such high notes is immaculate.
Also can someone explain why my trigger 1 2 combo is so sharp
Most beautiful Piccolo solo ever.
My band director would probably cry if I could play that good
Ngl feels like in heaven when listening to this
The lady shedding that single tear is the mood.
that's an insane tone for such a young horn player!
and volume too....s
Wowzers
Perfect example of less can be better. Thanks!
good to see Kenny from We're the Millers went onto greatness
To be honest as a horn player his tone is great but it sounds like there's a little too much air or maybe that's just me, but other than that he plays everything perfectly, beautiful indeed
This is awesome! How about the whole piece of this Horn Solo?
I HAVE BEEN WAITING
aww dude the cutoff killed me
As a hornist, what in the shiny hell is that thing
It’s cleaner than my bar of soap
Yes, a video with my instrument as the star!
We NEED the recorder version transcription!
Firebird. That's the most beautiful horn solo. :)
My first thought too
FINALLY SOME HORN!!!
God, I love Brass instruments
this is from the musical COME FROM AWAY!
Waiting for the bit with the kazoo section.
Reminds me of the joke: What do a French Horn solo and peeing yourself in dark pants have in common? You get a nice warm feeling but nobody really notices.
It was so good he inspired himself
RIP Titan ❤
Honestly i would have blasted the heck out of that top A, ruining it. This kid did it very tastefully, well done!
Give it up for the piccolo at the end and Mike Ermantrout on the drums!
bro... my school gave me a french horn as nice as that one 😭🙏 they be way too generous
That A on the 11th bar
Surely, I wasn’t the only one that initially thought that was Will Poulter.
The worlds best 10 year old horn player.
That horn is shinier than my mom’s wedding ring
RIP James Horner
"wait, you guys are getting horn solos?"
I'm suprised he can hit that high A with such consitency
I thought the notation was boring, tbh. I was expecting him to play more harmonies while the strings held the melody. Clean af though
That D is sharppppp on that Alexander!
Listen to Tchaikovsky 5. Symphony 2nd movement. That’s truly the most beautiful hornsolo. Especially if it’s karajan conducting
Karajan's is probably the only recording you've heard and reading this name does you a placebo effect, you wouldn't recognize his version among 5 other recordings
@@remifasolla5324 haha, sorry, I’ve played this work myself and spent countless and countless hours hearing different recordings. I’ve heard all Karajans recordings, but luckily the one that comes up first when you search for tchaik 5. is the 2nd best Karajn recording imo
Went down here to se if i had to write this comment myself. Good work 👍
That kid has TONE! (Tone is somewhat of a difficult task)
i've never really cared for this song but this got me literally crying, wow. every day i understand more and more Cody Fry's obsession with french horns. absolutely beautiful
Most beautiful horn solo?
Tchaikovsky Symphony 5 second movement.
I've been meaning to write: *Not to insult or criticise* anyone *but* (perhaps) the *uploader*; but - seems to not be really technically chalenging, and a little trivial in interptetation on all those long notes.
Also an _unimaginative_ _selection_ of music for "most beautiful [instrument] solo". IDK, I may be wrong.
I wish all the best to all 100 musicians and especially solo horn player. No beef with them.
It's a meme, relax. Tchaikovsky 5 is beautiful.
@@snarf1504 I didn't get that this is a meme (I guess like "Darude Sandstorm"). Thanks.
-- BUT, my comment was about the original Video posting.
High a. Props.
My dad plays this everyday in the house. I'm not joking...
I like the one in Dvorak's cello concerrto
No one can beat my Hailfire Peaks horn
bro isnt that french horn like a quadrupletripledouble horn?? 💀 bro that horn must be atleast 1million dollars 💀
James Horner would be proud.
Who?
My sister's ex-husband was a decent horn player but mine gott, this is 10x cleaner.
Me a french hornist trying to learn this. Also me getting it first try
French horn underrated
Is that the bully from The Maze Runner?
The Asus at the end 💀
No one cares
Holy shit sharkboy can play
I'll go with the horn solo from Young Frankenstein...
@George Collier : Uploader: Let's call this a dud or a miss-fire. This particular video is over-hyped and not really fascinating.
0:48 Gadd2? Isn't it supposed to be add9?
Add9 is more traditional notation, yeah.
Have you ever heard about 2nd movement of tchaikovsky 5th Symphony?
Como puedo yo enviar una grabacion para que me la transcribas, George?
AS A HORN PLAYER A THAT A TO A LEAP IS FUCKING NUTS
So we have Brahms, Strauss and Mozart to name a few who have written the most beautiful pages for horn ever witnessed to humanity and THIS is what you choose? 😂😂😂 That's like me saying here is the best burger in the world and showing a filet o fish from Mcdonalds.
