Listen James, I bought them last September in anticipation of using them for practice only, but as soon as I played them, they ended up staying in my bag. The feel is increadibly good and I don't find them scary. It also motivates you to swing very well because missed hits are costly both for your hands and distance. I much prefer them to my P7MBs actually.

I only started playing in the summer using my brothers v300 irons. Used my dad’s blades and loved them. Went and got a set of Ben hogan apex irons which are actually so much smaller than my dad’s irons. Enjoying using them and enjoying the challenge of using especially for a newbie.

Reading your comment I was like: "Why would you want to make it so difficult for yourself?" Then I remembered I play normal blades myself (not these mega thin ones) and my friends give me the same comment...

James, you do have some older golfers that enjoy your channels. I am amused by your reaction to the size of the Cobra blades you are using on today’s video. I started playing golf in 1965. Back then, ALL irons looked like that. I actually pulled out my high school set to play with a couple of months back and found that I could still hit them well, albeit at least a Club shorter than my Cobra F9 irons of today. Enjoy the clubs as the will force you to improve you center strikes with any current iron.

Played these for over a year and loved them! Matched up with the DG Tour Issue X100 shafts, they are amazing! The tungsten toe weight helps a lot to make them slightly more friendly than they appear. Helped me improve due to the extra focus required to play them.

I've always loved playing MB irons because they make me a better ball striker. The feeling they give you when you hit it pure and in the middle of the face is phenomenal. You definitely have to put your time in with them at the range.

I was playing off 15 and brought some MP4 irons to use down the range to give me better feedback on center strikes. I ended up gaming them and got down to 10. I`d rather know my miss hits will come up short, as it tends to not put me in as much trouble. I`d game those all day long.

Love the Video James !! it just doesn't matter how far you hit a iron, when I play blades and my 6 iron goes like a 7 iron that's fine as long as I get the launch and spin to stop it which you get with the blades because of the weaker lofts , you just build your bag around them and enjoy !!!

I just saw Rickie Fowler's interview on the RS podcast, and he was like "yeah, those didn't really end up being what I wanted.. The ones coming out this year are much closer to what I was needing." or something like that. And how insane consistent/accurate you had to be to even attempt to use the Cobra RFs. It was pretty interesting.

These irons look beautiful, I’d love to try them. I’ve played titliest mbs 680,710,712,620 through the years. Every time I try to take out a set of say AP2s or another bigger cavity back my ball striking suffers, back to the blades and it tightens up again. Maybe that’s just me, irons are very much my strength, keeping the driver in the bag and taking my 1 iron off most tees has won me many of tournaments and matches.

  • @eugenemurphy1861

My thought process on small, unforgiving irons is that they are a great practice set to have around because they force you to slow down, work on your mechanics, focus on your striking. If you can strike it well with a blade, hitting a forgiving iron That you game for tournaments becomes much easier and much more fun

I need to have the swing weight adjusted and I don't plan on taking them on the course but at the range or on a par three course it can be an excellent practice tool to improve striking. Maybe you won't main them but I think they should at the very least find a place in your routine.

Was at demo days this weekend and tried the Mizuno 221, 223, Titleist T100, Zrixon ZX7 MKII, Cobra CB. All were OK, lots of miss hits and shot dispersion was all over the place. But then I tried the Cobra RF with a KBS $ Taper 120 stiff and OMG... Every shot was through the same window. Shot dispersion was very tight with only ONE bad shot. I couldn't believe it either. I even had people watching me hit. Yes, the minimum offset did scare me but since I play the ball forward in my stance, it made up the difference. Very surprised in performance. I'm sold! I'll be getting a set very soon. BTW, my last gamers was a set of Mizuno MP-33's. Lastly, Project X IO, LZ, Nippon's...blah. DG S300, very good. KBS $ Taper, love it.

Fun video James. The clubs were gorgeous to look at but when it comes to golf I really could not care any less about looks. I need something that works (which I have yet to find but that says more about me than club design). These clubs would be an absolute disaster in my hands but you managed them quite well. I'd absolutely have a set of those if I had the money. It's fun to hit the little heads. Currently, I alternate between mid 2000's Hogan FTX iron and my 2016 Hogan PTX. The smaller muscle backs force me to focus more and I really don't hit them much worse

I’ve been using these for the past 3 months. They are really fun to play with. Now I don’t hit every green and they aren’t super long at all but they have made my swing a lot better. It’s just impossible to play these clubs without commitment. On every shot, you need to dial your mind in and you must have good tempo. If you do all of these things, they deliver. I’ve gotten ridiculously good chipping and pitching with these irons. So fun around the greens. I get about 195 with the 4, 155 with the 7. They really fun thing is the PW. You can hit all sorts of neat shots with that club. I stopped carrying a Gap Wedge. I can hit shots from 100 to 120 with that club. The consistency is phenomenal. My last 3 rounds have been 73, 72, 75.
I had previously bought some TM P770s, and those things are in a box. Nowhere near the fun of these RF MBs. However, winter is coming, so I’m not sure how these are going to work out. I’ll make another post and let y’all know.

  • @Hunter-zp5hd

I just bought a set of these today. They should be here in a few days. I think you need to have a mindset using these. Yes, I could buy some King Forged Tec or Callaway Paradyms, but I like authentic golf. I’m not interested in hitting a 7 iron 200 yards. I don’t get paid to play this game, so I think you should play the game the way you like to play it. If playing a blade gives you enjoyment, then do it. If I mishit them some days, then I’ll just go practice some more and find out what’s wrong, not cover it up by using a shovel. That’s just my opinion, and I’m sure many will disagree with me. But that’s ok! Just last year I shot a 69 with some old MP14s. Didn’t hit the ball that far, but I was accurate and I just clubbed up a bit. Nice smooth tempo and you can play blades.
I’d like to see a whole 18 holes with these in your bag.

I am by no means a good golfer. I took a pause for about 10 years while in medical school and university and just got back into it. My current clubs are taylormade tour preferred CB from 2011 with r300 shafts so they are too whippy I happened to go into my local golf town and take a couple swings with these with stiff shaft and I couldn’t believe that I was able to hit them surprisingly well compared to my clubs (probably because I swing to fast for R300 shafts) but it felt so crisp and I hit the 7 iron about 165-170 carry to 180-185 total distance and quite straight! I couldn’t believe it and I may pick up a pair

Mr. Miura said his "baby blades" were the easiest to hit for decent golfers, because the mass is concentrated and less twist for shorter blade... seems counterintuitive, but I did play very well with a set of Wilson FG17s for several years in the 90s. A lot of it might be visual intimidation and preconceptions.

    • @keithfinley2939
      @keithfinley2939 2 года назад +1

@@Scinfull excellent! I actually think that most of the "too hard to hit" issues come from the fact that blades tend to come stock with heavy stiff low launching shafts (DGS/X, PX 6.0...). Its night and day using the mych lighter Modus 105s for example, or softer flex (PX 5.5 or even 5.0,). Sometimes older Titleist and Miz came with Dynalite Gold or Dynamic Gold XP in older models...

Ok now that I've watched the video I do agree that buying used / 2nd hand is a great option for golfers. I've been playing since I was 6 I'm now 60 and I was a 3 once upon a time in my late 20's through my 30's. During that time I played Ping Eye 2's and moved on to Mizuno MP 14's and my love for the game became even more with the blades. To this day I play blades. I just have issues with RUclips content saying if you aren't a really good golfer don't even consider blades. Would the new Mizuno JPX 923 Hot Metals make me play better? Perhaps. But for me I love to flight the golf ball, my Pings didn't allow me to do that, blades do. So I guess my rant is I just wish that any time a video on players clubs comes up they don't discourage people from playing blade type clubs or trying them because "you're probably not good enough." After all golf is a game have fun. PLAY BLADES! :) Sorry James for the rant. I did enjoy watching this video and those Cobra's are gorgeous. Top line reminds me of my old Wilson's. Thanks. PS: Nothing feels better than hitting one in the sweet spot! Ever wonder where sweet spot came from. Hit a blade pure and you will.

That 4i is the scariest thing I’ve ever seen! It’s bloody ridiculous! I think if you did have them in the bag and lost a load of matches, especially to Gaz, you’d be gutted! 🤣 They are beautiful though!!! 🤙🏻

Forgiveness, feel and looks are available as you know! Why stress with a blade like that? What about a copper putter? Two guys I play with have them! Props to you wife too!

I want to see you play Matt Fryer and Chris, you all use these clubs that would be really fun.

I've hit blades like that and they're scary. 4i carry distance: 169 yds all the way down to a 130 yds on a bad hit. That is why I don't play them.

James I think you should have a 3 hole challenge with Chris to see who plays them better. Add a good forfeit....

To me these irons were a bit like RF’s perhaps intention to monetize his name/brand/skills. I was very disappointed to see that he indeed used them just for a short while.. great irons indeed, for the great strikers. I have these just for fun, practice and looks. 😬

Beautiful clubs but don't think they would be for me.... Laura looked excited to be out in the cold.

A year with them in the bag and you’ll become a better golfer. I have a set of P7TW that I game a few times a year and am always amazed at how surprisingly well I play.

How about competing in different classes? Blades play for the Big $ and the rest play for only a tenth of the prize money. This would make golf more fun to watch I think.
