I loved the anime and have bought 10 of the novels so far without reading, and I can't lie, depressing dark fantasy is right up my alley. Will be checking this out lol
You’re gonna either love it or hate it. It’s a mixed bag from here on out. I love it. You did hit the nail on the head with how you describe what you’ve read so far. The author didn’t give these characters a break and they deserved one. We as readers deserved one. A real break for us to see them able to lower their guard, smile, and not be so worried bout life or death.
I would have settled for them just staying in Alterna and raising up the meaningless ranks of the Volunteer Soldiers at obscene cost. This arbitrary march across an endless world probably seemed like a very thematic idea to the author but it's completely fake tension.
The biggest problem with Grimgar has always been that its a Light Novel if the story was a full book the writer would of had more time to flesh out so much more. This is a problem with a lot of light novels but it effect Grimgar a lot. The writer gets better at balancing these things out later but the problem never complete goes away.
Also I have no idea what happened in 10-11 lol, but if 7 is Darungar then Forgan... that should be Jesse arc right. Oh I guess I know what are you talking about then.
As a big fan of the series I strongly recommend you to drop it, the elements you dislike continue to happen, maybe you can end it on volume 12 because of how chill it is compared to all the other volumes in the series. I love the characters, I care about them, that's my personal reason to continue reading, wanting to know what will happen to them next.
It was an important death. The party heavily relied on him not just taking the brunt of attacks as a tank but pulling most of the leg work to win battles. Though I wish he would’ve survived.
@@kadraeallday5582same, but with Moguzo happen the same as Manato, they needed to die to make them realize that you can’t let one person take all that responsibility
yeah, it's pretty bad they should just combine them in just 1 volume, the story will continue to torture the characters but i like to see the character growth even if it is very slow, if you still continue reading it volume 13 might piss you off, but the current volume is pretty good I like it
currently on no 16 and I have to say its loosing my interest very quickly. still nothing happy has happened in the entire series. The entire Parano world was the worst to read.
let me introduce the hit tv series lost to you good sir. some foreshadowing is just hooks and there is no greater story... just a cheap tactic to retain viewers without making a coherent story

Bro the end of volume 18 stunned me. I couldn't process anything for about an hour. The author made the Red wedding look like a joke lol
I read the first 11 then dropped it. I love the series so much but I just have no hope it’ll go the way I want.

i love the series and read all 20, but you're right, its deffo misery porn all the way down. Only gets worse.
pretty much why I finally quit reading japan light novel after following it for over 12 years. only read some KR web novel and fricking loving it

I dropped it already. I was not happy how the story just crapping on the main characters. I did make it to volume 9 or 10 I think before I had enough.

the anime was so good. i want to pick up the novels too but maybe not..

you should read sumire 16 sai, its my happy place such a feel good story with a great ending only 5 volumes
