The industrial area was the old Naval Base which has been downsized significantly over the past few years.
Rosia Bay is where Lord Nelsons HMS Victory berthed after he will killed in the battle of Trafalgar.
If you go up the Rock you can access the caves, the Great Siege Tunnels are fascinating along with St Michaels Caves.

Rosia bay was where they towed HMS Victory after the battle of Trafalgar to drop off the wounded and dying. Some of which are buried in the Trafalgar cemetery opposite the South bastion. At the south bastion is a statue of Nelson. Nelson was stored in a barrel of brandy at Rosia bay before being brought back to England.

Told us he was a bird watcher and that many types of birds passed over when migrating . We also walked the Mediterranean steps...that was quite a feat ....couldn't do it now!!..... Spent a year in Gibraltar 79/80 while a naval nurse at Royal Naval Hospital loved it.

My wife and I stayed at the Bristol when visiting Gibraltar in 2014. It's very oldy worldy with wood panelling on all the walls and it looks like it hasn't been decorated since the early 70s. But there is a certain charm to the place. We were married at the cathedral and had our reception at the Caleta, which was a wonderful place, now sadly demolished.

    Hi Scott,
Great video! It reminded me of when I was in Gibraltar back in 2012 and decided to rent a bike to cycle all around Gibraltar. Basically, I did the same thing as you, but on a bike. I can't quite remember if it was also forbidden to cycle through the tunnel on the eastern side of the Rock, so maybe there's still an arrest warrant out for me in Gibraltar.
I also cycled across the runway and crossed the border into Spain. I turned around immediately, cycled back over the runway, and did a loop through the harbor area, just so I could say I crossed Gibraltar from north to south and from west to east. I think I was back after just over an hour, haha.

One day we did decide to walk through that tunnel but in the opposite direction. However, we did get stooped by a policeman on a motorbike just after we emerged from the tunnel. He asked a few questions about who we were and why we were there. He soon let us continue on our way although he claimed that it could be dangerous to walk through because of poisonous fumes.

I had a 3 week stay at Gib a couple of years ago courtesy of the RFA. The dead end you walked into along the dockyard does have a way out, but it isn't obvious. I love those old dockyard buildings. So much nicer than their modern equivalent would be.
I swam at Rosia bay every night, around 2100, just as it was getting dark. No cosy required then! Got stung by a jelly one night. (Vinegar and hot water to the rescue!)
Plus, I cycled around the rock, through that tunnel and did see walkers, so not sure how strictly it's enforced.
I thought that you might have pointed out the ramp where they used to push old cars into the sea.
And, finally, I did also cycle to the top of the Rock.
    Yes, I enjoyed it.

A different aspect Scott, but thanks for risking a fine. Some good views en route.

Great to see parts I haven't seen before, even if it's an industrial cul-de-sac! Do you have the only phone without GPS maps?

Your back in the UK now, but of course you can go up in the tunnels overlooking the airport. You have been able too for a long time, for 50/60 years plus now!

Mate, of course you can go through the tunnels in the Rock. They're one of the main tourist attractions. It's a bit of a hike getting up there, though, however you can get the cable car most of the way there.

If you like tunnels, you would love the Faroe Islands. They have 17 tunnels through mountains and 4 under the sea, including the world's only undersea roundabout. You can't walk through them however.
