I’m old fashioned and have all my paperwork on real paper. Every time something new comes in I straight away take the old paper out of the file and put the new paper in. This doesn’t take much time to do and indeed I don’t trust my tablet or the cloud.

I don't trust cloud stuff either.
I'm a flash drive type of person but it's expensive sometimes so is Google storage.

I’ve kept pictures of my mom and grandparents from the 70’s. I’ve thought of digitizing them, but I love the look of the older photos. So 8 kept them, but I do try to discard or digitize other important paper items.

Oh my gosh! I needed this video. I toss all the junk mail but have a terrible habit of keeping something that I might be interested in. Just looking at my office I realized how disorganized I am. This has become a total waste of my time and time to change some old habits. I am also one that has the filing cabinet with the colored files and labels. I just ordered your new leaf to screen and hoping to dig into it soon.

The reason a higher percentage of younger generations said they have too much paper clutter is because they have a much lower tolerance for paper clutter.

You can use the shoeboxes of the discarded shoes... to hold the paper blizzard! Problem solved!

Wow, these were some interesting stats! Haven't heard of them before.
I am doing a hybrid system with digital and physical papers. I have a back up digital version of important papers and file the physical version. Less important papers like bills I scan and toss the physical copy when they are dealt with. I use a digital tool as a dumping ground for all my to dos. However, I rely on a simple physical list to plan my day. I really love being able to cross off the list during the day without having to access my phone or laptop. I tried notebooks before, but they don't work for me as they get cluttered quickly. I use a ring binder so I can remove papers individually and throw them away when the lists on them are done or no longer up to date.
It's also crucial to have a system for managing papers that come into your house and those you need temporarily. I use two small filing cabinets that live in a cabinet behind closed doors and can be accessed easily. There is never loose papers in my home and I am proud of that!
I used to struggle a lot with papers, and it's still an area that can get overwhelming quickly if not maintained. My mum is a teacher who studied history and she has a hard time getting rid of papers and books. They hold knowledge for her, so each one is valuable to her. If you are struggeling in an area, think about if your parents had difficulty letting go of the same category of items! Perhaps the struggle was passed down to you and you need to rewrite the story for those items.

Excellent videos! I wanted another in which you mentioned studies on clutter and personality traits, this is very interesting and I'd love to hear more (videos). Also, would you care to reference any study names or favorite researchers?

Great video. I decided that this year is my year to start digitizing my papers, important documents, photos, etc. I am definitely interested in your course. Just wondering if there's any ongoing subscription costs after buying the main course. 😊

Do you cover sentimental papers in your course? I have some things I want to keep because of the memories attached and a digital version isn’t the same thing. I may need to be more selective in how much I keep but I also need more organization.

In the 'secure' section, I do cover keeping hardcopies and sentimental papers in one of the lessons. Of course, overall, Leaf to Screen is intended to be a paperless course, so the bulk of the lessons are related to going paperless. But I don't leave out our must-keeps :)

I keep so many physical papers but going digital means I'll never find anything. I'm finding it difficult to eliminate. The moment I get rid of something is the moment I wind up needing it. Could you show us how to organize digital papers?
Edit: After asking I noticed the course I can't afford.

I know $35 sounds cheap to people but every cent counts. That's a meal.

Looks like Mia has decluttered her video of color saturation?!
Honestly the videos are esthetically gold, this is just a joke...
