Hi! Just came across your video, just wanted to say that I AM SO GLAD YOU MADE THIS! I've been trying to make Notion work for me and I've realised that it's honestly too much hassle and like you said if I can't physically see it then it doesn't feel like it's there. So now I only use Notion to track my studies and am finally using my Notebooks and other resources properly. I thought that if I tried hard enough then Notion would work for me but now I realise that by sticking with my gut and in turn paper I've never felt more productive! Thanks for this video for making me feel seen.
yess I totally relate to this! I saw people using notion and I wanted to make it work so bad but it just didn’t work out. physical planner gal for life!!! sticking with what works ❤❤❤ i’m so glad you relate too! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
I like your way of planning. The only issue that I have is that it is a lot of notebooks. I just purchased a Erin Condren A5 ring planner and I got the budgeting and project inserts as well. I feel like it does everything you are describing, but in one place and I find it to be small enough that I can carry it with me. I also created my own inserts for the important things in my life like routines and my running. I also have an inbox where I write down things that I need to do. I like your system a lot, but as someone who gets distracted easily I find the many notebooks difficult to keep track of and use
@@Moonlite1230 oh I love this! I used erin condren back in college and I must admit, I completely for about them 10 years later! thank you so much for reminding me of this brand and that’s such a great idea for your inserts! 🫶🏼🫶🏼 it’s all about trial and error - maybe next year I give this brand a try❤️ tysm for watching!
Thanks for sharing. I'm in my early 50s and the last few years (as technology has progressed) I've been grappling with my planning system. I must have some form of paper planner for sure but I've definitely gone down the rabbit hole of digital products, I've tried Notion, all of the apps, etc. The ones I do like are Google Keep, Google Calendar, Any Do, and Day One Journal app. However, after watching this, and so I stop running in circles (I've changed my planning system at least 6 times since January), I plan to return to using mostly notebooks and planners (because I love a calendar). And back in the day, I also used mostly colored notebooks so I'm definitely going to explore that again. Thanks again for all of the great ideas.
yes!! do what feels right for you and what works. thats the best planning system honestly, the one that just WORKS for us. I love me a good colored notebook! they make me so happy. Thank you for your comment and I am wishing you all the best in your planning journey
@@darianajaimeblanco thank you so much for watching! it’s definitely a trial and error type of thing but i’m positive there’s one out there for you! 🫶🏼🫶🏼
Ahhhh I’ve never resonated with a planning video more than I have now. Notion doesn’t work for me either! I also love keeping different A6 sized notebooks for different things and the sticky notes? Chef’s kiss 😂 For my monthly spread though, I still use google calendar just so my bills and birthdays are recurring. Easy for me to also add quick events as needed and have them as a widget on my homescreen. For the day to day, nothing beats pen and paper. Totally agree. Thanks so much for sharing your system!
I’m thinking about reducing my notion to just goals, goal updates, maybe reflections and general notes. But then use a paper planner for monthly and weekly and daily planning
@@daytodaykat There is a brand called The Traveler’s Company that produces the “original”, but other brands (and individuals) make their own in different sizes. It’s basically a reusable soft cover that you can string multiple soft notebooks in.
I love how you made this video. I’m thrilled to be one of your first 300 subscribers and I can follow you while you’re creating videos for thousands of people ❤ Good luck 🤞
Happy planner, half sized CLASSIC size ❤ fits in all my purses and I fold over standard CLASSIC sized paper to hide private information.❤split into sections for work, checklists, brainstorming, prioritizing, monthly overview, medical, finances. Hi! Thanks for the insight. I was recently diagnosed with ADHD and I’m struggling a little bit with how to cope. May I ask where you got the first monthly layout planner? I think something simple like this is what I need to get started.
@@miri8025 welcome to the club! happy to have you hahaha ❤️❤️ best of luck with your journey! and yes I grabbed it at barnes at noble but I recently went to TJ Maxx and they had a ton of options. the brand is “orange circle studio” or “paper source”. hugs!!
Notion too complicated 😂😂😂 I put all of my todo, checklist, reminders, everything on paper. Using different planners can be exhausting too. I keep small Japanese version of Franklin Planner then realised that I can not put everything there. So I tried Hobonichi, Jibun Techo, Happy Planner, Flying Tiger Planner, Kikki, Kakeibo for Finance, and some digital planners 😂😂😂. Finally I am using Franklin Planner Japanese for reminder and todo, Filofax Pocket for notes, reading summary, and Filofax A5 for social media planner. You are right, and thanks for sharing
preach!! lol notion is doing too much!! and omg ive been so curious about Hobonichi planners and now you got me second guessing! thank you so much for these recommendations - it sounds to me that we are very similar.
I VERY recently came to the conclusion that i need monthly and daily views for my planning system😄 Weekly is somehow both too long and too short of a timeline. For my daily to-dos i just use the 97 cent pen and gear pocket notebook (monthly items are still in the monthly/weekly planner i bought at the beginning of the year).
@@daytodaykat it MUST have to do with time blindness! Combined with "work expands to the time allotted". So...a day, a week, a month, and a quarter...ALL look the same!😂
The only system that has ever worked for me is the ryder carroll bullet Journaling method (very minalimist). Then for goals makselife companion notebooks. And now I use the finch app.
Thank you for watching!! It did take me a few weeks of it but with my ADHD, I realized that where I was messing up was not having the planners in front of me where I sat down daily to do work, so by switching them to be in front of me, it helped a lot. Then I started writing more and more on them until I became dependent on checking that to go about my day and after a few weeks, it stuck!
@@daytodaykat very enlightening qnd I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I need to take a lot of notes and misplace the folded papers I grab from the printer a lot. Thank you
I have tried bullet journaling - but the thing about me is that if I make a design mistake on the page, I can't rip out the page without the rips showing or the other page on the other end coming apart... and then my perfectionist brain can't handle that mistake not he page. It honestly gives me more grief than I can handle lol! I'm also not super artistic and the final product I see on pinterest is never the one I can create and it just makes me frustrated lol. my god I sound like a nightmare but im just being real 🥲 haha
