@@raymondthurlby Thanks. In the seventies, I was regularly travelling between London and Newcastle, and tried to get hauled by all 22 Deltics, and I succeeded. I had them all between Newcastle and London, or vice versa, except Crepello and Nimbus, and had them all with 55 numbers except Nimbus, not necessarily between Newcastle and London. Early in 1978, I had 55011 from London to Peterborough, the penultimate one I needed with a 55 number. I then only needed Nimbus, and assumed that I would stand a fair chance of having a run behind 55020 , although I was aware that the HST debut was not far away. Then, in a Spring 1978 issue of the Railway Magazine, I read that a Deltic was being used for spares at Gateshead. I thought to myself, "It cannot be Nimbus, as that is the Finsbury Park favourite." Sadly, it was Nimbus, and Gateshead used it to repair its own favourite, 55002. Nimbus was then taken to Doncaster for repairs which would never take place. Every time I picked up the "Railway Magazine," I looked for information on Nimbus, then came the news that it was to be returned to service, but Doncaster managers thought otherwise. Nimbus's last train was an Oxford to Newcastle parcels. Surely this would not normally have been a Deltic job.
Good old days of BR Blue/Grey. Deltics were tops in their day. The sound of twin Napiers at full chat, nothing else like them. Magic machines.
Remarkably good quality. I like the spotters enjoying the sun at the north end of the platform at York. 🏖
Travelled on the Down Scotsman in 1966 when it was still Mk1 stock. On time from Ncle and on time at the Cross
Thank you. 😍

Fantastic footage, this brings back so many happy memories, particularly the scenes from York. Thank you for sharing.
@@andrewtaylor5984 Yes, poor Nimbus, the shortest lived Deltic!
