  • A first look at the Cessna 195 Businessliner developed by Carenado for Microsoft Flight Simulator. It's wonderfully modelled, flies well, and is pitched perhaps inbetween newcomers and experienced pilots. It's available in the marketplace right now - check it out!

I love the look of planes in this era. I wish it had an autopilot below transponder. There's room for it. Nice review.

... but the real thing didn't have one back in the day :)

The pull-out cylinders at head height are for ventilation. Great machine, added to my sim hangar and really like the art-deco feel to it!

Loving the big radial soundscape ...thanks for the video 👍

Nice review and test flight. Another “local legend” for my hangar.

They got the R755 sound about right. The stall warning is the modern reed type, the 195 had the Safe Flight Inst. Corp type that has a lower tone.

I'm guessing most aircraft are recorded from the real thing.

Thanks for reviewing this aircraft Jonathan, I'm thinking of getting this myself as I like flying the stagger wing, which although is a bi plane, it seems somewhat similar but with better landing characteristics, less bounce. Mind you , could simply be that you're a better pilot than me, lol.. keep up the good work. Gary

Oh, I had a pretty good bouncer landing a little while after recording this :)

Was not going to get this, but after your review, I changed my mind based on the engine sound - much better than the Beech 18 that Carenado did but has never upgraded which they should.

It's very reasonably priced - and great fun to fly.

I don’t think that the fact that the starter and magnetos are separated can be attributed to any lack of refinement, or a less advanced design. I think (I might be wrong, and the specialists will correct me) that you NEED to rotate the propeller for a few blades BEFORE ignition, with a big radial. That wouldn’t be possible with the current setup of a key managing both the magnetos and the starter, sequentially (sorry if I’m not very
articulate: English isn’t my mother tongue).

You're right :) At the time I recorded this, I didn't understand the mechanics of it myself - it makes total sense for a radial to have separate starter and ignition controls.

Are you using Quickview with the hat-switch? I noticed that most of the default planes Quickviews are broken.

    • @jonbeckett
      @jonbeckett  Год назад

No - I always re-program the hat switch to do trim, rather than views.

Thanks for sharing. What are your CPU and GPU?

I7, 3080RTX - also worth noting that my screen is at 4K - downrated by OBS on the fly to 1080P - which is why it stutters sometimes.

wish these rather inexpensive aircraft would be a little more Study Level the rest seems good for the price though

Would have had to primed three times, if cold, on the real thing. Flap sound is not authentic.

I hope that no one watching this video will ever fly the real thing. Please get proper instructions. I’m sad to say that there are numerous errors in the pre starting items… (e.g. never turn on avionics before starting the engine, …). Beautiful simulation though…
Ah, and C195s have no rolling window on the Copilot side.

Hands up to that one :) It's worth noting that Carenado aircraft are *not* accurate - they are simplified for the masses, rather than true "simulations". That said - if you have knowledge and wisdom to share (which it seems you do), would be great to see some content on your channel! :)
