The hireling/summon gear I said I'd post in a pinned comment is: Deadly Diabolist Set - 2 Pieces Equipped: Your summons, charmed monsters, and hirelings gain +4 to all ability scores. Epic Deadly Diabolist Set - 2 Pieces Equipped: Your summons, charmed monsters, and hirelings gain +8 to all ability scores. Legendary Deadly Diabolist Set - 2 Pieces Equipped: Your summons, charmed monsters, and hirelings gain +12 to all ability scores.
I just want to give a big tank you to Axel for having me on the podcast. it was a pleasure and an honor. do to differences in time zones, scheduling this was a logistical nightmare. if not for Axel's presentence, it would have never worked. I hope I get the chance to do this again some day. :)
Shield clicky (and other clicky items) can be purchased from the Clothing vendor on most any guild ship that has Three-Finger Thad's room. The 5 RNG items in her list are random and reset if the instance resets (just like the marketplace brokers that work exactly the same). The items are usually level 1 with 1-3 charges of the clicky spell. If you are a guild officer/leader you could 'store' the room and then 'place' it to create a brand new list of items in that Clothing vendor's inventory. This is a unique trick to get clicky items that few know about. If you are patient enough you will find a Shield clicky in this way.
Something to consider for soloing is using drow for the Faerie Fire SLA (for 2 sp, with metamagics). When used, the ability helps you see hidden enemies and oozes, for example. But the best part is the super economical way to break breakables/crates/barrels as well as knock down doors that you'd usually need STR or fireballs to knock down. This you can get at level 1 with just 3 racial APs which those that own Myth Drannor content could have depending on the bundle purchased. I highly recommend this for a nice utility ability when solo.
Great discussion. As a player that started playing DDO solo, then found my static group for years, then the static group dissolved over time, I often solo just out of convenience and necessity.
I'm pretty social, but I mostly solo just out of time convenience. I can play when I want for as long or short as I want without waiting or inconveniencing anyone. I can zerg or take it slow or practice stealth etc...
WHen it comes to tanks and support, the best solo strategy is to set your class and feats to the specialty you are focused on, but to get gear, enhancements, and epic destiny points into making a more balanced offensive character. Then, when you group, you can easily swap those around to be more specialized. Mind you, if you basically only solo, there isn't much point in making such characters.
I am quite excited about Myth Drannor because Level 13 is a nice level for this. If you are stuck for XP don't forget challenges, you can set the level, so you can do them for xp at any level.
Ranger with many shot and whatever the feat is that enables striking through enemies when combined with a cluster at a doorway or a long hallway works well as I found out with my first character on first life.
I’m a soloist just because I love hirelings. I have powerful hireling because Druid past lives, augmented summoning, Harper tree and I believe I have some ship bugs that give them more power. I run almost a full party from level 3 to 30 lol so to me they are more than just a buff. I respect not wanting to depend on them though. I would say I depend on them but they are an extension of my builds abilities. I call it my swarm and they act like an aoe mob
Ranged Arti and Ranger has gotten so much better since they got a AOE attacks in their early enhancement trees, but they still have to deal with the range desync so still tough to solo with
Normal restoration pots? I need to pay attention to events more. Edit: they can be gotten from druid commendation in Eveningstar too if you need just a few
I think they need to develop some more level 20 quests, I am always having to do Eveningstar when epic TR'ing; second time round, even with all 20+ sagas giving xp to level to 23/24 after TR, almost every quest thereafter has lost it's first time bonus.
I remember when you could just put Larafay at the bottom of a ramp in the challenges and then go do everything, she would kill everything that came close haha, now they port to you or don't do anything, so stupid.
I not understand wye SSG not have found a solution to help solo Ayers to enjoy the game...the problema to play solo for my Is to find a Build to play becose doing a Build my self Is hard...and for a new player can be a quit Moment from the start...ddo Is not a game for heavryone... I Stil wathing an update on the Hearlyng system but SSG seam have give up...same thing for the Adventure Guild in ebberon/Forgotten realm...we steal have the Building in bot universe but never got any update from SSG...some Manny things can improuve but instead we gate the same stuff...new packs, race, iconic and some new trees and PL to increase the powercreep and the gap from new players and veteran more, on other and i find DDO a good tranzition of the PNP game in a 3D format (of course Neverwinter night not the mmo i mean the CRPG Is Better in my opinion) no One have try to replicate and neanche the formula right now...criptyc have try with Neverwinter but have failed miserably...
I tink haveva system like in GW2 "Merchenary Heroes"/"Heroes" system can be a good compromise to help Pepole like my...of course the system Is gona be restricted only on Quest/dungeons and not raids and a least be use in R1-2 not furter...but i tinking eavry time at the Merchenary Heroes system and i tink Is a very good system in gw1... I tink the reason maybe SSG have not speak with dis...becose make somthing like the Heroes system of Gw1 can be hard...becose the coding and how the game works...but i steal tink a Heroes system can be good for solo player...
I am super casual, i play sporadically, maybe coyple hours before bed. I use 3 accounts so i can just log on and get to it then log off after a couple of quests. I use my main guy, a bard with 2 rogue levels for traps bardvsong that heals + a cleric for buffs and reactive heal. There was a time 20 years or so ago where i played other mmos where you had to group, and it could take hours to get a group to do practically anything worth doing, so when you got a group going you basically had to play 8 hours non stop to get stuff done, you were obliged not to break group. I cant do that anymore!
It’s very true that soloing may be the only way to learn a quest unless you are lucky to play with people that let you lead as a newbie or if the content is new for the whole group and everyone agrees to sniff all the flowers 💐 thankfully we do that and read all the dialog for the new releases 🤍 soloing was hard for me at first I felt too incapable but eventually I got up the courage (thanks warlock build 😉) nice to see Aldbar!
Strimtom solo guide playthrough helped me so much, mostly in how not to be afraid of traps. Elite is so much less scary if you know how to handle traps in general.

Also, there's a filigree set The Cry of Battle, that also enhances summons/hires.

Was it said that these can be equipped, the minions get the benefit, they can be removed and the benefit sticks?
@@DerykRobosson Yep
@@DerykRobossonsnapshotting happens a lot in ddo

Hey Axel and Aldbar have watched both of you many times. Great stuff guys thanks for all your extra contributions to the game!!
Thanks Aldbar for your contributions to the game. I followed several of your build guides and had a great time with those builds.
I solo for the same reason Aldbar does. Human interaction is exhausting.

Good to know! Also reminds me I should carry a fireball wand for door opening.
Apparently bows and crossbows can break doors? News to me but I'll try it

There are some deep cut tricks in here

I see the name Aldbar and i just watch
Love you dude.

There are poison ticks now, so make sure you have a cure poison and blindness potions.

There are two harper pins, a lesser and a greater and they are on independent timers, so you can two cc clickies if you get enough rep.
Pretty sure they use same timer. Always have for me, unless it has changed in last year or 2
Aldbars solo of DOJ was extremely impressive
Ooh, this should be good. I solo 99% of the time
I generally solo as a pure rogue using thief-acrobat and falconry build. and i always take improved feint at 1st level to sneak attack stuff.
Ranged Arti and Ranger has gotten so much better since they got a AOE attacks in their early enhancement trees, but they still have to deal with the range desync so still tough to solo with
DDO drip
Artificer is probably the best for soloing, trapping, healing, ranged, and melee all in one.
Could you link a ranged and melle artificer

I have done Demon Queen at heroic elite 20 times to get my clickies, it is easy. I did that as a level 20 battle cleric.
