Making a Dining Room Table from Reclaimed Lumber

The boards we're using for the table top were sheathing off of an old garage built in the 50s, with lots of nail holes and tar paper residue. The base it built from poplar since it takes paint very well. There were lots of cracks in the old, dry wood we used for the top, so we used multiple butterflies to stabilize the cracks - far more than we expected.

What poly did you use and brush to apply???
