May 22, 1973 was the day I turned ten years old. Life was good back then, if only the innocence of childhood lasted a little longer. Less than two years later, my father had a heart attack and the paramedics were unable to revive him. He had been sitting in his favorite recliner, in our living room (the only room with a tv) where we used to watch shows like this. Oh... the memories! Thanks for sharing this.
Interesting how they included a traffic report on that newscast. This was Atlanta. Considering this was the early 1970s, that display was way ahead of its time. There wasn't even a station in Texas that would do them yet (at that time). Who knew?
@@charlesmeadows6285 According to listings, it was Captain Kangaroo at 6:30 (on a one-day delay), followed by Atlanta A.M. and then the CBS Morning News.

That was one out-of-control sausage king.
Dang. I
It's like a mashup of "A Face in the Crowd" and "Network"!
3:44 one of the earliest "touchpad" drawings? live?
Before Good Day Atlanta, there was THIS!
3:05 can’t say that today.
"I played soccer last night. She opened her mouth, and I socked her." yikes!

4:07 casually joking about showers and icbms
By something coincidental Channel 5 used to air Nashville AM.
WAGA stands for "Wonderful Atlanta GeorgiA".
TV 5 had to bump the "CBS Morning News" for this, and it was probably a good idea at the time.
That was & still is a bad move since FOX isn’t getting a single red cent.

It's no wonder Elvis wanted to shoot "the sausage king" after Jimmy hit on one of "THE KINGS" girlfriends........
Never liked to watch Paul’s newscasts cause he was always so fidgety made me nervous lol.
