Ariah’s painting is so impactful with the brushwork and colors. Yours is a beautiful combination of depth and light. Both are stunning. Thanks for sharing! Peace and love..Suz What ☮️💛
Thanks Suz! 😊🙏✌💛
So nice to see you doing the hills with all the live oaks on them. When I lived in Palo Alto I used to love looking at the hills and thought they would make great paintings.
Hiya Michael! I really like how you solved the problem of the big swoop, and conveyed the warmth of the scene.
Thanks Miriam!
Beautiful paintings, Michael and Ariah, with a challenging composition and a time limit. Impressive.
( michael, in your narrative, 13:39 , you point near a sparkle lain on the path, adjacent, at the paths edge , lays a pillar, I like that. you speak of depth, the touch of water just below an opening, just left of the tree base, the depth in that subtle opening adds to the center ground “ hue “ shift of lighter green , expands it further subliminally, within it a countenance, an eye sheds a tear. I like this and the opening in the sky, where sparkles can enter )
Love that location, couldn't be a better composition in nature, didn't really need to change a thing! Your paintings really showed the terrain well, the sloping canyon feel that we get in California. Loved this one!
Beautiful painting! That transparent yellow oxide + titanium white is a really nice combo.
Ariah nailed it, in a much higher key. Thank you, Michael
Excellent. I like the broadness of the execution. I can't help thinking of Norman Wilkinson, a British painter, who painted railway posters using a broad style, though his colours were harsher as he was creating for advertising purposes.
Thanks Mark! I'll have to look him up online.
Beautiful paintings from you and Ariah! Keep it going guys! Thank you both so much!
Wow that swoop is pretty wild, the power of nature makes this painting look unreal! I love It
Both of you created beautiful paintings from a challenging scene! Michael - that was a great decision to extend the path to the right; really makes the composition work! Also excellent value/temperature shift between the near oak and more distant one. Ariah - beautiful brushwork in the oak - you've broken up the big shape perfectly!
Thanks Karen!
Absolutley loved this
Thanks guys. That weather though (I'm freezing over here). 💕
Thanks for calling out the colors you're mixing for the darks in the trees....I have horrible problems mixing greens and this helped a lot!
Looking forward to next week....great video today!
Thanks Charles!
Nice paintings! Tell Ariah he needs to start a RUclips channel too. 👍😀
Thanks! Haha, I've told him
you are so amazingly talented!
Once again, fantastic video and painting. They paintings came out great.
fabulous as usual. I love the loose brushwork on both of your paintings guys.
always look forward to these vids
That's one creepy brown monster guarding that path! ..and that dragon head on the left hill!
Nice one Michael - I love the warm greens in the foreground. The track coming in from the right definitely helps counteract the swooping landscape. Great vid as ever
Thanks Andrew!
Nice painting Mike! Nice variety of greens and those shapes are so dynamic!
Thanks Scott!
Love it and learned a lot, thank you from Tasmania
Enjoyed the latest painting session. Interesting that you change some of the elements early in your planning of the painting - artistic licence. When I change the elements too much, i get so far then think 'why have i moved the tree?' or 'why is the road/track in a different place'? and i can't work out whether its a mistake I've made or I I've done it intentionally. Lately, I've done an initial sketch so i can refer back. Great set of paintings - well done. Paul
Thanks Paul!
Great plein air from both of you. Very inspirational.
Thanks Marti!
BEAUTIFUL paintings!! Thank you for sharing so freely your talents!! Im learning so much!!👏
Thanks Ruthie!
Yeah ariah nailed the focal point by showcasing that tree. Not such an easy perspective for sure.
Nice one! I enjoyed this location
The skyholes on the trees seem a bit low, as the sky is higher up (so you should be seeing the hill through them, or move the skyholes higher in the trees. Also, the skyhole on the left is bluer than the sky. Other than that, it came out quite nice.
Very nice .
I love it...
Now that looks like Australia
Fantastic paintings, guys!!! Beautiful! I love it. You both have a different technique/style and that's what makes art really fun. Very nice nature. Great job! Greetings from the EU!
Thanks Olda!

Two blue eyes and a mustashe thanks Ray Vila...
Both of you did wonderful paintings. Thanks for sharing!
Hey, I love your painting videos! I'm new to painting with oils and I've heard that alizarin crimson is more lightfast especially when diluted. Is that really a concern or can it be used as much as a cadmium red?
Glad you're enjoying my videos! Alizarin crimson isn't as lightfast as cadmium red but they're totally different colors. I would avoid using alizarin for glazing but in mixes it has a lightfast rating of 2 which is fine by me.
@@chamberlainpaintings thank you!!
