As an appreciator of both, I say avoid that moral high horse. Christian rock that glorifies the name of Jesus can be as powerful as hymn. God is far more dynamic and understanding of the hearts of his people than a mere cardboard cutout of what people think a Christian is. I don’t mean to get so passionate from your comment, but you can trust God has his people in it on the hymn and rock front.
Mine has passed while I'm still young but her making me go to a good ole Baptist church growing up that sang these, kept them in my heart and is the only way for me to truly feel worship anymore. God bless her and I pray I see her in Heaven, but she was a complicated person.

When I stood at the grave of my 20 year old daughter. she died from an unknown genetic dysfunction . I knew that even though I felt dead inside Jesus was with me. As angry as I was. Now 22 years later they know what was wrong with her and now I am dying of the same inherited disease.AND FOR ALL THE TIMES I HAVE TOLD GOD I HATED HIM He has wrapped His loving arms around me and forgiven my human side because I have Victory in Jesus!!!!!
We sang this hymn as the last song at my beloved grand mother’s funeral a couple months ago. What a blessing we were able to do this for her. It brings uncontrollable tears to my eyes.

Love this song, especially the last stanza, which replaces and old version. What touches me in this stanza is the revelation Jesus gives us of the oneness of His body and freedom from indwelling sin. Finally, the call to come out of Babylon into the glorious church. I am praising God for this victory in Jesus!

Visited a friend out of state this past weekend as her grandfather wasn’t doing well. I am not religious, but we sang this to him after the church service we had Sunday morning and he was mouthing the words as everyone sang. He passed this morning and I’m back out of state. I was raised going to church every Sunday at a major denomination (I won't mention which one) but as an adult I found myself going to church because I was supposed to, not necessarily because I wanted to. Then, during a very dark time of my life, an old friend whom I hadn't spoke with for years reached out to me an extended the offer to have me come to their church service for a visit. Adter that, Church became something i looked forward to every week and my faith grew stronger and deeper, and 6 years and 4 months later, I accepted, with tearful eyes, christ as my one lord and savor, and i was rebaptized in the river. Praise God

As a kid I attended a kids program at the local baptist church and us kids loved singing this song. I stopped going when I got too old and I had never heard the song again but I missed it. Over the summer my great grandfather passed away and he had wanted this sung at his funeral. I started bawling right then and there, not because I missed him, but because he taught me one last thing even when he was gone.. he taught me that nothing, not even death can make us lose, we have victory in Jesus. ;)

Love others as you want to be loved, forgive your enemies and seek Jesus with all your heart. This is what I am reminded in this song. Jesus loves us ALL, even sinners and unbelievers. All you have to do is except His redeeming love, ask Him to come into your heart as your Lord and Saviour, repent of your sins, and make Him Lord of your life. I'm so glad that I did. Years ago, someone prayed over me that I would always have a song in my heart, today this was the song. I PRAISE GOD for every victory that He has given me and I trust that He will always do so,

This is a beautiful song.... reminds me of how much Love Jesus Christ has for us. He loves us all and is our creator... savior, and God. The Great "I AM" of the old testament and the New. John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." He paid the ultimate price so all can get to heaven through Him. John 3:16-17," For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." Love others as you want to be loved, forgive your enemies and seek Jesus with all your heart. This is what I am reminded in this song. Jesus loves us ALL, even sinners and unbelievers. Great job on this song!
My Mamaw just passed away August 31, 2013, & This was her favorite song. She always said that she would win the Victory of Jesus, & She did. She was my world, & I miss & Love her so much! My mom, My Uncle, My mamaws best friend, & I sung this song at her funeral & I know that it mad her so happy!
