I wish I could have caught the live, but our power was out. Back now, thank goodness. My favorite project this year is one I finally finished today. I spun “mermaid yarn” from a colorful batt, then inspired by the thread ply with beads tutorial from earlier in vlogmas, I plied with a silver thread and added freshwater pearls. I wove it into a scarf for my 5 year old, and she loves it!

Great episode, as always! :) This year I started spinning - I was very proud of my first bobbin! I bought an Eel Wheel and ordered some unknown mattress wool (it was washed but still all tangled up and partly felted - not the best way to start a spinning journey lol). I washed it, carded it with hand carders, and spun it! I am going to ply it next and make socks out of it. I know it doesn'tsoind like a big deal, but I am absolutely delighted with myself :) While spinning, I watched hours of your videos, Evie! I can't wait to try the different techniques you've shown and apply the tips you've shared. Thank you! 😊🤗

At the start of this year I had finished a cross stitch project that I had started 3 years ago and my mom had it framed as my birthday present🥰 my fail of this year is a pair of crochet capris. I made so many mistakes so I frogged the whole thing so I could reuse the yarn and remake it. So far it’s turning out much better🥰. I’m planning to learn to spin and sew more seriously next year and I want to make my first cosplay it’s mostly gonna be crocheted but there is one sewing piece for it🥰. Happy holidays💕

A glorious Vlogmas 🥰🙌 thank you so much for sharing this with us. Your efforts are super appreciated! This is such a joyful holiday tradition. I've started looking forward to it every year 😄.
It's tricky to pick a favorite project because they're all my favorites when I'm working on them ahaha. All my spins are my favorites, all my FOs are my favorites 😂💕. I was particularly proud of a large alpaca/merino lace shawl I knit for my hubs for Xmas this year though. He's been requesting one and I'm so excited to give it to him tomorrow!
I hope you and everyone reading this have a lovely week, and that you enjoy some sweet, peaceful moments as the year comes to a close 💖.

Oh no. I missed your live again 🙈.
In moment I spin different colors of mountain sheep fibers in green, white, black, yellow, green and red. I work on a rug project where I use the technics of tibetian and turkey knots in mix. I really like it to try out different "weaving" technics, which are rare nowadays.
The frame for this I build by my self. It's a wood frame and because the tension of the warp is so high, my frame get already a "s-curve" 😅.
I have to build an other frame in the next month out of metal.
At Christmas I was got from my parents an original Iran rug weaving comb, which calls daftin or daffeh. It's sooo nice to work with it. The first 20 rows I beated together with my wool comb. 🙈 I'm so glad to use them now for combing fibers again.
I really love my project although it's really big, but I wasn't imagine before I've started, how much fun this rug project are. But I have to spin now green again. My yarn ball are sooo "see-through" now 😅. I use a loose long drawn and just ply 2 together all with my drop down spindle.
On the other hand I have a cardigan project on my spinning wheel. There I spin orange fibers, my mother buyed. I don't know, which sheep this are, but I also spin it in long drawn. I will chain-ply it to get a nice fluffy yarn in the end for knitting.
My socks I knit out of self spun merino wool are almost finish. They keep the feets so cozy warm.
I wish you and your family a happy Christmas. Please stay safe by this extremely weather. 🎄❤️

My plans for next year will be to finish 2 shawls that I have started.
To feel a little more confident about sewing with your hand woven material I would suggest finding a very inexpensive commercial made fabric that has the similar thread count. That way you would be able to make a sample of your finished garment to check for size, fit, length and any construction issues that can be address before cutting into you hand woven material.

The tri-loom would look nice if you started with the smokey grays, moving to the orange, which is the coldest color of the flame, on the top and corners; then move into the yellow (warmer flame), followed by the blue (hottest); next would be the brown for the logs, and lastly the black for the charcoal and ash.

When you mentioned visible mending my heart jumped a little. I’ve always been taught to be frugal. Part of it was for budgetary reasons, but also because mending clothes just makes sense. Why not make it pretty as you’re doing it? And why not ‘hide’ the mending by adding a few extra elements, making that article of clothing into something extra special?
It especially makes sense when you have active kids. They come home with stains that don’t wash out, and tears in brand new clothes. A bit of embroidery thread and a contrasting piece of fabric can turn a pair of jeans into a fashion statement whilst saving you money. I’ve sewnmore dinosaurs, unicorns, hearts, flowers, skull-and-crossbone patches than I care to remember. I’ve embroidered even more. Not to mention what I did with fabric paint…
My Mom taught me. Now I’m showing my adult daughter how to customise her clothes and how to ‘save’ her favourite pieces when they get worn in places. At times we enlist my mother’s help.
Spinning has only added an extra arrow to my arsenal. And yes, small skeins can find wonderful uses. I tend to keep my leftover yarn and generally spin lace weight or cobweb weight yarn. It’s great for mending, too. And I save my odds and ends that are a little longer to make multi-coloured items. I stash them by yarn gauge, more or less sorted by colour. You’d be amazed at the gradients you can achieve. 😊
