Watching you put down those consistent, fluid hatches was immensely inspiring. Thank you for putting out such great content, showing us what's possible with practice!
I use a ton of watercolors, so I've gotten to the point where I put in my large black spaces with either india ink and a nice size 8 round, or a Black Prismacolor Marker, I need that waterproof goodness. But I agree, using tools won't change anything if you're not feeling the tool. This was fun to watch, I'm always a fan of your traditional work.
Being a lefty but not knowing how to draw with the left hurts man. Props. One of the downsides of being a visual learner. But I’m slowly getting there. Hopefully soon I’ll be able to draw with both hands equally
wonderful work! I would reccomend the kuretake bimojii brush pen for heavy blacks over the tombows however I like using the tombows for outlining anatomy and for medium areas of heavy blacks
Def helped to watch this one. I'm trying to figure out where to put my solid blacks to make it pop like this, I swear i feel like it never fully shapes like this. amazing work btw 🤙😊🖌🎨🤙
Awesome ink work Rob! I know exactly what you mean with zooming in too far on digital work and drawing in a bunch of detail you can’t see when you zoom out.. just did that this week. But I would love to see you draw Swamp Thing, he was my favorite growing up.
Tried using white gelly roll pens and white ink in the past for corrections but never liked the result. Got a pack of presto pens incoming so hopefully those will work better.
Fantastic! I'm going to ask if you have any practice advice on lighting & shadowing . Also, I'm new to cross hatching. Would you mind sharing the basic "rule of thumb" ? I'll look over your content to see if you've already got something. Sometimes, when you re-explain something, you capture a bit of wisdom that wasn't there before. Anyway, dude, I love your stuff. I'm looking for inspiration and this is inspirational to me.
Wow such incredible work, really inspirational. I am sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but is "traditional inking" the actual name of this solid-black coloring style? I have been trying to learn how to use just black/white, but whenever I do whether its procreate or paper the form/dimensions look misplaced. I have been trying to find tutorials on the web about that specifically without much luck, however, I wasn't sure if there was maybe another name for this style I wasn't familiar with. Again sorry if this comes off ignorant or silly, I'm relatively new.
Great Video!! I do have a question .. are you using the Tombow to fill in the large dark spaces? I was thinking brush with ink but I like the idea of a pen better!
I am always curious - how to make these really pale pencil sketches for the inking? Maybe I press on the pencil too much? My sketches are never this pale. Also, when you sketch, you leave grooves on the paper from the pencil. Would it not cause the ink to get into them and spread?
Hey man, I know you probably hate getting asked this, but what supplies do you use? I’m trying to get back into traditional art and would love to know. Also, what paper is best for inks?
Hey Rob. I want to ask you about the under drawing here. I have had an issue with pencilling and then inking over it, because when I rub out the pencils the eraser lifts some of the ink off the drawing - a notable amount. Are there any tips or tricks on avoiding that? I am using microns and brush pens, it doesn't happen with sumi ink which is not my preference, and I would prefer to avoid having to use dip pens and brushes, as I struggle to control those tools effectively. Thanks.
You wouldn't put a list of those pens you mentioned here could you? Want to get better at drawing and like to collect these kinds of things for future use
What was the white out pen you used in this video? I have a white out correction “pen” but it’s not precise so it doesn’t give me fine lines to work with, I need answers!!!
Its 3am but now I want to get out of bed and draw. I need to resist but I also need to keep that feeling in the morning.
Did you keep that feeling?
@@sgtvirus6696 I don’t know if the feeling was kept
That litterally how i feel anytime i get the urge to draw
True dude
The next time it happens, don't resist, just act out on that feeling.
Great video. After watching this. Went to my desk and did some art.
Me too. This video is great.
yov are so right, makes me want to sketching again
Now be honest how many of you picked up a pen and started drawing? :)
Me
Most definitely.
ME
I’ve already been drawing for 3 hours lol
I just used "When in doubt, black it out." Really helps to clarify things.
Got to love Wally Wood! Thanks for watching! ;)
Watching you put down those consistent, fluid hatches was immensely inspiring.
Thank you for putting out such great content, showing us what's possible with practice!
your crosshatching work it's always sooo good
I agree with what you said about the penciling. Doing more than just a few basic outlines makes my inking rigid and lifeless.
Your art here is amazing. I really enjoyed the inking. Thank you kindly for sharing your experience with us
Thank goodness. Need refresh. And here it is. Thank you.

Very inspirational, you just knocking these outta the park! It all seems to flow easily going through it like you described! I like it
When it looks easy, know that there were thousands of hours spend going hard. These videos are really inspirational.
it feels good to see lefty artist
I'm one too..so many times I smeared 🙄
Not gonna lie, I felt REALLY happy seeing you are left handed!
I know right!!
Being a lefty but not knowing how to draw with the left hurts man. Props. One of the downsides of being a visual learner. But I’m slowly getting there. Hopefully soon I’ll be able to draw with both hands equally
This is awesome!
Big fan of you.thank you so much.
Amazing piece and great skill. Also, a really great educational video. And inspiring. Thanks for sharing.
Some really great tips in here about inking
Great presentation. Thank you.
wonderful work! I would reccomend the kuretake bimojii brush pen for heavy blacks over the tombows however I like using the tombows for outlining anatomy and for medium areas of heavy blacks
That Tombow pen is awesome I always go to it first.
One tip stood out!! Thank you!!!
Good tip

that is one cool piece and one my favorite characters
Awesome work
beautiful work

I have used tombow, zebra and pentel touch "all brush pens" I like all the brands but I prefer pentel since it is waterproof to alcohol markers.
As an amateur artist myself I happen to use those exact same tools, micron pens, uniball pens, brush pens.
Realy nice inking
Awesome work! I love it!
You are amazing!! Thank you for these tips 🙌🏻
Your cross hatch work is on a god tier. #drawingGoals
Really cool drawing dude love 👍👍👍❤
I love your inking style and thanks for the advice .
:)
Thanks a lot. Awesome video!
Very helpful
Awesome man,
I just bought your Udemy course, gonna start soon!

Great stuff!!
Great stuff as usual!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Keep up the good work, love your vids
Amazing
Awesome!!
Great video!!
Yeah I know what you mean when you tense up trying not to mess up. I have a problem with that, but I’m workin on it.
Love it on the rendering I need more help on them
Thanks for the tip 😙😙😘🤞😃
All the rookies watching want to know was your hand touching the paper and how come no smearing of the ink? Smooth clean lines :)
Tried using white gelly roll pens and white ink in the past for corrections but never liked the result. Got a pack of presto pens incoming so hopefully those will work better.
That's a beautiful Spawn portrait, great freaking job! What are some good types of paper to use?
I do the same but with blue pencil first then straight to ink
*also I go all the way up to sumi-e brush for spotting blacks and keeping things organic…
Do you have any tips for doing large even fills, such as the shoulder areas in this piece?
Amazing..
Fantastic!

I'm actually making a spawn comic so this was cool
Can someone list the timestamps and the pens he uses for this?
If I saw this at a show, I would swear it was a Todd McFarlane original.
You kind of sound like Todd McFarlane
How do you know what to black out, where, and the intricate shapes? I'm having a hard time learning that!
Wow such incredible work, really inspirational. I am sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but is "traditional inking" the actual name of this solid-black coloring style? Cool but then how do you add coloured inks to that without spoiling the black outlines and shadows you just inked?
Great Video!! I do have a question .. are you using the Tombow to fill in the large dark spaces? I was thinking brush with ink but I like the idea of a pen better!
I’ve seen some guys use a blue underdrawing. Does this make a difference to the way the ink lays on top ? Is graphite worse for inking over ?
Do you have to use a traditional brush ,or can I use a use brush pen? Where do I get a brush pen?
Hi.. well said, bye'eeee..
I make My ninja comics And its so long and cool but my dream its people Can read my comics
Try giving it to get it published

try to use a kneaded eraser and a 2h pencil.
what is that thing you use like a brush penn?? what brand is that and is that refillable??
Do you use a sharpie for inking the outline?
Hey man, I know you probably hate getting asked this, but what supplies do you use? I’m trying to get back into traditional art and would love to know. Also, what paper is best for inks?

Honestly great piece but the shadows didn't make any sense to me
So is it better to ink a gape after you've penciled it all the way through?
You wouldn't put a list of those pens you mentioned here could you? Want to get better at drawing and like to collect these kinds of things for future use
Sorry I'm a dummy, didn't notice the pens in the description
What was the white out pen you used in this video? I have a white out correction “pen” but it’s not precise so it doesn’t give me fine lines to work with, I need answers!!!
Pentel Presto. Jumbo correction pen.
fear is the mind killer
Do you ever have trouble smearing the drawing while inking?
Let the ink dry first. And try working top to bottom, left to right to avoid all that sfuff. It happens to me too.
What kind of paper you use?
Do you edit your reference(if used) first?
Looks so much better traditional, not a big fan of computer digital art
Robertooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
it is always funny when americans use japanese stationery products
who is the character
spawn
Why are all the top artists left handed? I'm starting to think being born left handed is an advantage.
Sooclose to first
you are clear just want to spend 10 minutes huh?
huh
@@DAEDRICDUKE1 daamm I don't even remember what i was saying, swwoyyy. I guess i was pissed off because this video was ten minutes long
