    As a former Navy EOD tech I tended to hard charge things. I love the information that you share because there are so many points in life where we simply think we are okay, but don't realize really how much better we can be.
    More of us should see medicine, nutrition, and mental health as ways to not just cure an apparent issue, but as a way to optimize our bodies and really be our best selves.
    Thank you for sharing.

    Worrying about transmission of SIBO doesn't make sense. It's in the name "over growth" not presence. My understanding of H-Pylori is that it exists in everyone but the overgrowth happens when conditions (low acid) allow.

    Question for Dr Lipski:
    Can it be better for a chronically sick, obese person to have a more sterile gut environment through intermediate broad spectrum antibiotic use (maybe one or twice a month) rather than err on the side of a diverse microbiome which clearly is not doing them any good?

    • @kathleenwoods9604
      @kathleenwoods9604 3 года назад +3

      I know your question is for the doctor, so please forgive or ignore me if I offend. It's just a warning on the use of antibiotics. I was on antibiotics for 3 years, intermitently for various issues and by year 3 had acquired CDiff. Horrible, horrible bacteria that grows out of control if not regulated with a diverse microbiome. The broad spectrum antibiotics were carpet bombing my gut killing good and bad bacterias. That was in 2017 and I'm still trying to rebuild my microbiome. So many people do not know that antibiotics can do this, not even some doctors. Again, apologies if I've offended.

I realized he's been training hard for forty years. I'm starting to work out again. I'm fifty and I'm not wrinkled either. I'm not in shape and I'm bald. My dad is 85 and doesn't have wrinkles. The question should have been what affects do they feel their beauty treatments have affected their overall health and how do they think their diets shape their appearance. Saw a movie where the plot included a man’s crippled hands being restored by stings from a scorpion and I think spider bites. Like could Botox help old knees?

    Two things...I have been searching since having COVID to try and explain why I survived 17 days in the hospital and others didn't. At the time, three physicians came in every morning just to meet with me. Talk to me, particularly once I turned a corner, what it was I was doing. WHAT WAS IT THAT WAS SAVING ME? Pre-Vaccine. Terrible protocols, or none that were available or proven as per research as you discuss so often. Vent shortage, thank god, and I was on a BiPAP machine. A BiPAP has to be one of the worst machines invented if you are awake an aware of what is happening. I fight putting that on like a crazy person. June of 2020. I believe it was my muscle composition and overall health. I live in South Texas, obesity, diabetes, etc. I was immunocompromised. On Xeljax and Methotrexate. Aged 51. While sick and definitely not a healthy person compared to many, I had formerly been a Body Pump instructor in my late 30's and early 40's. And had continued to lift weights, I was still eating fairly healthy and only a bit overweight. I believed I was keeping up with my health and muscles to combat my RA and the joint damage occurring. (diagnosed at age 20). During this time, having a nurse in your sealed room just twice a day, was horrific. No human contact. I had the top 3 physicians from the area come in every morning to talk to me, check my progress. I watched that clock in anticipation of their conversations! These physicians were completely covered from head to toe, one even with ski goggles to cover his eyes! They quizzed me on my eating, my exercise habits, my home/family life, my work habits. Looking for some clarity as to what was something clinical or something even just I watched those body bags multiple times a day being zipped up through my door window, the cleaning being done and new patient being brought in - I began to time the clean up process as awful as that sounds just due to the trauma of witnessing it all. I was pretty much helpless but through a family nurse who called, text and FaceTimed me, I began my own version of pronating. My arms were strong enough to turn myself over alone and turn myself back over. Once I got passed the pain and decision die, I made a mental decision that God wasn't taking me and the only way out of there was to FORCE myself to work on it myself. No respiratory therapist, no physical therapist. It was on me to do it. I have repeatedly told people I believe and and I still do that my muscular make up was truly what saved me. Muscles and a "warrior" mentality that I had lost when I first was admitted. I was physically able to turn just enough to sit on a portable toilet, reach for a cup to brush my teeth with water and wash my face - all due to my body muscular and neurological system that I had kept up with throughout my adult life. The nurses and doctors who did stop and would chat with me let me know that I was doing so much better than most of their patients.
    1. Is there some type of correlation or relationship between those with serious cases of COVID that survived and their muscular make-up/and or diet? Has anyone followed up or worked on a study in this regard? I have met very few people who were hospitalized and vented or on BI-PAP and survived but surely there could be a connection? My physicians there seemed to think that was the case but at that time, they were too busy to actually stop and work on their theory. How many of us are there out there and what do we have in common?
    2. I am currently teaching at the gym again and currently raging through your videos and others linked in regards to nutrition. I know I am missing something somewhere. Since COVID, I had gone the route of vegetarian, low protein.Plant based protein shakes, and handfuls of vitamins. I have been unable to lose weight. I raged through sugar while in the hospital as I had friends dropping items off at the front of hospital for me and items such as those and chapstick, clean sheets, and clean underwear as well. Essentials once I decided I wanted to live. I have suffered from an ill stomach and just not looking healthy overall since the illness. I lost 15 lbs in the hospital and ALL of it appeared to be muscle. Skin on inner thighs, under my arms, etc. I might have fit in clothes I hadn't worn in years, but at what cost? I have never regained my figure and still, even, with the exercise and low calorie diet (a half-marathon last fall), cannot lose a pound. Its GOT to be gut or diet related.
    I appreciate your videos and will be ordering Dr. Lipskis book today. You state that this is your mission or calling, and I believe it. I teach a group of women currently in one class, water aerobics, and they are probably tired of hearing me talk about muscle strength and endurance! But keep it up you have me motivated to change these men and women lives as well. Thank you!
