Man those were some awesome catches!! Dropshotting is such a blast. Went dropshotting with crickets on Dale Hollow the other day, and while everyone else was grinding it out for smallmouth (and catching them), no one was smiling more than me and my buddy back at the dock. Terrific video!!!
Those are some nice fish , it be cool to see top water gills
Those were some nice gills and a bonus walleye too! I got some of those today myself on a lake 10 minutes from my house!
Great vid! Just yesterday I rigged up some braid with a fluoro leader because I had extra sitting around, didn't have specific plans for it but now I know exactly what I'm doing with it. Thanks!
I always save my extra line spools for this reason!
Love the action! Great beautiful bluegills.
Some day we might just go chase some on your waters lol
This has been a newly utilized deadly tactic for big gills this year for me. It’s my new favorite.
It is crazy how many people never use it lol
DWS Outdoors it’s turned into my “go to” and produced some of my biggest gills to date.
Fine how you are releasing them. Obviously you aren’t hurting them. And the wind? At least you got to fish. We drove an hour one time to go on the lake to walleye fish only to get there and realize the weather man was wrong. The winds were a lot stronger than forecasted and the waves were too high for the boat.
This is the perfect video to whet my appetite for fishing from the shore of the Mississippi River this afternoon. Yes, there is a Mississippi River and Mississippi Lake here in the Ottawa Valley. I tied some drop shot rigs, following the instructions on your recent how-to video. They are made from a 6 lb fluorocarbon line, and I will attach them to a heavier braided line. I will bring my slip bobber rigs too. I hope to get into some decent panfish--although some bass would great, also. The bass seasons opened in this part of Eastern Ontario yesterday. I caught three walleye and one bass last Friday using my Abu Garcia Silver Max combo with a drop shot rig. Is it my imagination, or is it true that it is easier to detect bites when using a light rod and reel combo with a drop shot or a slip bobber rig, as opposed to a medium? Prior to getting out my Abu Garcia combo, I used Shakespeare Ugly Stik combos rigged for drop shot and slip bobber.
The braid with 0% stretch allows you to feel bites much better so if dropshoting with it thats one way and also the right sensitive rod like my TUCR Apex Elite I was using helps even more to telegraph the bite down the rod to your hand to detect them better!
What braid lb test do you use and brand? Never really fished much with braid.
I have been using Suffix 832 a lot recently and it seems to hold up pretty well!
DWS Outdoors is there a lb test you recommend?
For panfish I like 4-8lb if your looking for a beefy line I use 20-30lb for big bass and big walleye. I list the braid I use in this videos description: ruclips.net/video/j_MTou52hPk/видео.html
This would be a good in-between if you're using a leader like I do you can run 4-6lb P-Line Floroclear and be set! I also have that linked in the description lol

Do u think a 2000 series reel is too big for ultra light fishing?
No I like using them sometimes for the spool diameter to let line lay flatter! I just like my 1000s because they are very light and have amazing drags!
Ok..I have small Shakespeare ultralight ones now..but ive been really getting into the okuma avenger reels .I think I'm going to grab a couple 1000 series reels for ultralight and probably ice fishing as well
Yeah thats the reason I even have these reels is I got one for ice fishing to hold more 4lb line for those big fish hook up days! lol Turned out to be a great reel! I have the ones I use listed in the description if you are looking? Everything about them is good so far if you take care of them! I use all my 1000s on my ice rods so its a buy them once and use them all year type of thing!
This is the one I use: ruclips.net/video/jsNLt0U32AY/видео.html
Probably not I use 500 series' reels
