    As a film 🎥 lover, I appreciated the Guillermo del Toro reference! This pen is aesthetically pleasing in the extreme. I am quite partial to Victorian and Victorian-style designs. I actually collect Victorian mourning jewelry. "Crème Glacée" is the perfect name for the color. That is the term that comes to mind upon seeing any creamy, vanilla shade (as a French speaker). Thank you for yet another thorough and intriguing review.

    I love the FWP Brush Pens. And of course they have this SteamPunk aspect together with something I would call late 19th century "office style" (I am thinking of Melville's "Bartleby the Scrivener"). And you are absolutely right - they should come with B or OB or Stub nibs. I have one in F (almost Japanese F) and one in M (also too fine for me). But I love the concept because they are very unique. And you are very right - things (and fountain pens) which you use show after some time that they are used (and loved). And I love the names of their colours: I have the green (Duck Duck Goose) and the orange one (Persimmon). Thanks for another great video 🧡💚

    Nice thoughts about the wear and tear of a well traveled journey.
    Is the brush pen's nib a standard size? A retro-fit stub would make a unique pen.

    Hi Hemingway! I was pretty amazed at your 6 September live when you said that hardly anyone had watched this video. I was apparently one of the few. So I had to come back and watch it again. I must say I really enjoyed it the first time and I enjoyed it again. I think I would like to get one of these pens. I agree that the nib and section are phenomenal, and I have no problem with the posting issue because I almost never post my pens. I think the only one I occasionally post is a brushed stainless steel Parker 180 I bought back 1979. The way it posts has never left a scratch. I stopped posting many years ago when I realized I was causing a terrible scratch in my Mont Blanc, Chopin by posting it. I was able to buff the scratch out with Simichrome, but never wanted to run any further risks. Thanks again for this video, and the art work was awesome too!

    Hi Hemingway. I have been looking at the other available colours for this pen. I like the sunset yellow version and the printmakers teal. Both look lovely. I agree it's unfortunate not to have a greater choice in nibs. As to posting, probably only as a last resort. If it felt so small that I couldn't hold it comfortably then I'd reluctantly post the pen. I particularly like the etching on the brass section. Not only does this provide an interesting decorative feature, it also prevents slipping when gripping the pen. However, having said all that I don't think I'll be buying this pen in a hurry. I'd rather try out a few inks by Ferris Wheel Press. The inks really look magnificent.

      I'm with you on this one David. I too wish there was more nib options, even just a stub would be such an elegant option. I'm kind of passed the buying cute pens willy-nilly. It's all about the nibs for me these days. Having a stub option would be a dream come true.
      I'm a card carrying member of the small hands club and the profile of this pen is right up my alley. Smaller pens are hard to come by in the new pen world today. That might actually be why I've come to enjoy vintage pens over current pens.

    Pilot E95s with fine nib was my first gold-nib pen. I loved using the black/gold pen so much I gave the burgundy/ivory version to my wife for Valentine’s day a couple of weeks later because of that feminine vibe you cite. Admission, I like it even more but am unable to pry it out of my wife’s possession.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this brand so more people become aware of FWP. Their paper products are really nice, too!

Having a stub option would be a good reason to reconsider getting one. I also wish they'd offer a straight up copper body version. That would be sooo dreamy looking. Very pretty pen. I would buy one if it came in a true desk pen size, 7" or longer. Though I also wish the nib matched the color of the section, and better yet make the nib's engraving a continuation of that on the section. As is it looks dinky.

    I got mine very early when they they had not started the ink mystique. I only ever post my Kawecos. I would also post the Pilot elite 95 if I could find a vintage one. I‘m miffed, because the engraving looks so much better on your pen so I wonder if they they changed their process. I find the inks a little pricey.

    For a pen company that is so proudly Canadian - it would be nice if they made the products within Canada.

    • @HemingwayJones
      @HemingwayJones  2 года назад +1

      They do design and assemble them there. That’s more than most. The “where is it made” rabbit hole is fascinating. Many fashion brands for instance use foreign sourced materials and claim atelier status. Many Italian fashion houses use vast warehouses of immigrant labor and claim it’s made in Italy, which it is, technically. The US does the same thing, and I am sure others. Many handmade products are made by machine. It would be nice if every brand were artisanal. The one I know for certain is Cartier and their pens that are go for tens of thousands. Anyway, I know that this isn’t what you were commenting on exactly, but it is a very interesting dynamic. Have a great weekend and thanks for watching.

    Hi Hemingway, as usual, thanks for a wonderful video. I have seen friends use inks by Ferris Wheel Press, but, I never seen any of their fountains. This video will be shared with my fountain pen loving friends. One question I have is this. Where is Ferris Wheel Press, the company, I mean located at? And are their inks and their pens manufactured in the USA, or are they manufactured for them by 3rd parties either in India or in the PRC? Once again, thanks for this very informative video. - Sid

    Philosophically speaking: I ink, therefore I am! Thanks for another uniquely fun fountain pen video, Hemingway.
    As for buying the pen, I'd like a bit more information. I decide whether to post a pen based on whether I need to for the pen to be long enough and weighty enough for me to use it comfortably. My Pilot Elite, for example, is one I find I must post to use. Ditto my Sailor Pro Gear Slim, my Kaweco Sport and my Pelikan 205. Without their caps on, each of these pens is just too short and too light for me to want to write with it. On the other hand, if posting a pen makes it too back-heavy or too long, I leave the cap off. For example, I just cannot use my Diplomat Aero Flame with the cap on! It is way too heavy and too long. So, Hemingway, how comfortable is this pen unposted?
    I'd also like to know the price. As beautiful as this pen appears to me, there is a limit to what I will spend for good looks. I know I can find this information easily enough, but it would be nice to have it here.
    Sorry for the bad pun to open. Just couldn't resist.

    • @HemingwayJones

      Thanks so much for the great comment and valuable questions. It’s around $138 depending on sales and where you get it. I see that their website offers discounts when you sign up and whatnot. I think that it is comfortable unposted in my mitts. It’s best when I am in a particular mood for precise writing. I could see taking it to the National Gallery for taking notes or some such. I hope this helps.

    What is the difference between a brush pen and a regular nib it looks the same I don't quite understand. Am I wrong in thinking that it's the manufacturer's responsibility to see that the pension be posted without damaging it I think most people like to post their pens I certainly do

    • @HemingwayJones
      @HemingwayJones  Год назад

      Hello Roderick. Thanks so much for watching! There are a whole bunch of pens that cannot be posted or should not be posted. Some may surprise you. Some TWSBI for instance. It’s just a feature that either is or isn’t possible, or recommended. I used to post all the time. Now I rarely do. I did a whole video on it. The Brush Pen, in this case, is just it’s name. It’s not actually a brush. Thanks so much and stop by again.

    I don't own the Ferris wheel Press yet, does this pen write buttery smooth? which one can you compare it to in terms of nib wise. On the other hand, I do have the Pilot 95Es in black and also with a fine nib, it writes super soft and well.
    But you do need special ink refills which these are not standard, is that also the case with yours? Mine was brought from Japan.

    • @HemingwayJones
      @HemingwayJones  2 года назад +1

      I use a converter with the E95S but I imagine you would need a short cartridge. The FWP is very smooth and not as soft as the Pilot but still a nice writing experience.

    Another question, Ferris Wheel's ink is that a good flowing ink or how should I say

    • @HemingwayJones
      @HemingwayJones  2 года назад +1

      It is a wet ink. Usually. Sometimes there is a lot of shimmer and maybe avoid those if you want maximum wetness.
