  • In this video, I'll show you how Sonoff SV works in normal mode and how to mod it to isolated mode, which can be used to control the garage door or auto gate motors.

    Hi.
You can avoid this wire jumper you made, only use IN and OUT positive terminals to make a dry contact

Why are you making it isolated? You solder the plus and minus together? This is new to me and I am hesitating between sonof SV or sonof mini r4 🙂

The way I do it is, it will just work like a switch, to open or close the circuit, it will not provide any current to the output. I connected this Sonoff SV to my gate controller, I use inching function just to close the circuit for half a second :) that will make the gate open or close. Hope this helps.

😊 i understand and what about the range of the normal remote control. Some people write that the sonof affect the range of the normal remote

Thanks for this. What is the purpose of shorting the input? Also my garage door supplies 15V DC - will this work in the same way?

Sorry for late reply. Just realized that I have messages in this video. Since I'm using the isolated mode, shorting the input will make the output a closed circuit when it's switched on. So off sv accept 5v to 24v.

Nice video. Can it auto sense to open automatically.

Sorry for late reply as I just saw your message here. No it won't auto open with this setup. However, you can connect it to home automation platform and use a ultrasonic sensor for this automation.

Hey Hi Freddy, waddup.. hope this finds you in good spirit, My 6 month old Sonoff basic R2 (power v1.3) konked off ... I tried changing the relay, but it will not budge, it will not come back on (sadly the original relay broke off while desoldering it out) (Also there is no glass fuse, its seems to be a 5 band 10 Ohms 5% resistor in its place inside a heat shrink tube).. ... Anyhow Funny though 5 other Sonoff basic R2's switches have been working for over three years perfectly well ... And this new unit circuit broke and I cannot figure what component has popped. ... I'd be totally thankful if you could guide me on how to fix this.

Hi Nik, I'm a newbie too. Not sure how to fix your R2.

good job Freddy! Thanks for sharing! If you want to enhance your visual experience, flash the sonoff with this custom sketch, and using an ultrasonic sensor (for overhead garage door, not gates) this sketch will determine if the door is open, closed and if there is a car present. Its pretty slick. I am not affiliated in anyway - I stumbled across and thought it might fit your purpose. github.com/achmed20/GaragePack
