Thank you so much, Colin! I am honored that you are taking the time to play this game and do a playthrough of it - I'm a huge fan of your videos! I'm also so happy that you've been enjoying it. I can tell you that we are aware of the issues in the game for some people - length of play time, balance, etc. - and those will all be addressed with the upcoming "More of a Bad Thing" expansion. It will have shorter scenarios, more factions, more Horror Mutations, and a Nightmare Mode. I think you'll like the additions and changes. Thanks again and very best wishes!
Hermann!! Thanks so much for the note and I "may" already have the expansion on pre-order :) I am very much enjoying the game and can't wait to see what the expansion provides! Also I can't believe I haven't played Dawn of the Zeds yet. . I am changing that soon!! Thank you for all that you have done for the gaming community on designing these games!
@@MeetMeAtTheTable Thanks so much ... and thank you for what you have done for the gaming community as well! I watch almost all of your playthroughs and thoroughly enjoy them. Best wishes!
So happy to see this show up. I've had my eye on it since it was on P500 but chose not to order. Recently added it to another order and it's on the way. I love Dawn of the Zeds 3rd edition but it's really only good for solo, so I'm hoping this one will work better for my group.
Thanks so much for watching! Yeah this will work with co-op actually quite well. The follow actions are how everyone will stay involved, and in a few of the rounds you actually can get more actions as follow actions then your actual turn! Love how they did that. I am going to try Dawn of the Zeds shortly! Do you recommend playing with any of the expansions right away or just go core game first?
@@MeetMeAtTheTable It depends on what level you play at. The book has levels from 0 to 5 or 6. Each level introduces content by complexity (and generally difficulty). Most of the cards are color coded to match the level and above it should be used in. The expansions mostly just mix seamlessly into the base game by color and could be added immediately for variety. The last expansion, Rumors and Rails, adds entirely new mechanisms though. The Rails portion adds trains to the board that significantly reduce the difficulty by making gaining resources easier and using them for defensive shifts. They probably are too strong unless playing at one of the highest difficulty levels. I've rarely used the Rumors as you have to get refugees to the city center for them and I usually use refugee movement to move the trains instead. I would mix the first 2 expansions in and hold off on the 3rd initially. I found level 0 (basically a tutorial) to be actually harder than levels 1 and 2 due to missing game mechanisms (and also on the boring side). For an interesting video, I would probably play at least level 2 to show most of what the game offers. Level 0 and 1 are good to learn the game, but less interesting.
You are awesome this is EXACTLY what I was looking for!! Level 2 it is! I am now getting very excited to play this! I would prefer harder than easier so thanks for this!
@@MeetMeAtTheTable- for dawn of zeds only way to play is full directors cut with all expansions included. This is the most immersive interesting experience
The tennis players are a refence to the Williams sisters, Venus and Serena. Given that the Addams Family and the Partridge Family refer to tv families, wonder if the other families refer to other sitcoms? Mark Spitz was a US swimmer who cleaned up with 7 golds in the 1972 Olympics. Showing my age, here as I remember watching him on the telly. It was totally insane! lol IMHO the golfer could attack diagonally, as that would be like playing a dog leg hole (no offence, Chase!) lol Thanks a lot Colin. Enjoyed watching along. Think you maybe should consider using the action to remove the biohazard tokens. If you don't mind taking advice from someone who as never played the game...you could legit tell me to shut up as I really don't know what I'm talking about! lol
I have yet to play Dawn of the Zeds (I am terrible I know!) but I did just find a second hand copy and it should be here sometime next week. I plan to play it and then compare them!! Thanks so much for watching!
I love love love Dawn of the Zeds, so I'm looking forward to getting this one at some point! Also it's a borderline crime that you've never played Zeds, Colin. Tsk tsk!
Haha I'm going to change that I promise!! One I get the game I'm throwing it on the table and playing at level 2!! Excited to give it a go and thank you for watching!!
@@MeetMeAtTheTable funnily I asked one stop the same question at the same time and they gave the opposite answer! The rules say whether we attack or they do, but I hadn't seen it ony any youtube video, I think they also do damage, thats how I initially read it and was asking for clarification.
@@MeetMeAtTheTable well I have the advantage of literally reading through the rulebook right now! Thanks for replying, not sure if this is Colin or Bairnt but if it's Colin I want you to know I followed you to this channel, love your work.
@_TheDragonsDome_ this is Colin! Thanks so much my friend and I hope you play this one its great!! A tad on the long side but it creates a great story!!
Good video. I've noticed that sometimes, when you roll a critical hit, you interchange 1 or 2 damage. Why is that? The rules say: Critical Hit: Inflict 1 Hit on the Horrors unit plus the player rolls this die (only) again. Re-rolls can occur any number of times and all results from them are accumulated.
@MeetMeAtTheTable I think I figured it out. The last one was at 1:19, but the tennis girls' ability says 2 damage for crits. Without going through the whole video, I think it was all done by them. Had to pause and read.
We found once we rescued all the civilians early game, it felt like a slog to finish the game. Still a great game, just could use some minor adjustments IMHO. Thanks to this channel for no blue hair and men with painted fingernails.
I agree on that! The tension is a bit wonky. Have you played dawn of the zeds I've heard that one has a bit more tension? Planning on doing a play of that soon!!
I was confused that this was Plum Island near long Island, NY's Village of Greenport was placed in South Carolina? Where there is a Plum Island in South Carolina, there doesn't seem to be a Greenport. Is this the author's license? Like to avoid litigation from calling it literally the real plum Island lab 🧪? Apologies if this was asked and answered our is something obvious. It's late and I'm very tired.

Do the horrors do damage even if the player initiates close combat?
They only cause damage when they attack!
