My oven has max power 3,5 kW. Pyrolysis cycle is 1h or 1,5h long. Electricity consumption over the cycle is 5,25 kWh max (3,5 kW x 1,5h). It's not too much ;)
I would guess this also I better for the environment for those that might be interested :) No chemicals and no bad knees and back from sitting scrubbing and scraping :) Nice video, almost ASMR for me 😂

I understand your worry and frustration. Self-cleaning really helps if everything works as it should. I hope your new oven will not never let you down.
i had an old MIELE oven, and sometimes it would just put ITSELF into Pyrolysis mode, even when something else is set... This ruined cake's and other things lots of times. Not to mention the noise of high current it made...
So far, so good. It's enough for me to use the self-cleaning function once every six months. But I cook in the oven not so often. It's a couple of times a week, no more.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching! My racks also don't fit in the sink. Before putting the racks in the bathtub, I lay down a rubber mat or towels on the bottom to avoid scratches. Then I use an oven spray cleaner and a non-abrasive scrub sponge. If the racks are very dirty, I spray a kitchen cleaner and allow them to soak for a few hours. Sadly, self-cleaning cannot be used for racks 😓
@Stuart De la mare Thanks a lot for the great tip! I didn't find the right size zip bag... So I sprayed the racks with an oven cleaner and just wrapped them with cling film. After a few hours of soaking, I almost didn't have to wipe off the remains of grime from my racks. Your cleaning idea works perfectly. I created a new video about it, thanks to you. 🤝
Hello, I apologize for my delayed reply. All is good with the furniture around the oven, don't worry. For me - the oven's working during self-cleaning is no different from its working during cooking. During pyrolysis, the oven heats up no more on the outside than during cooking. There is no high temperature that could damage furniture or appliances. My oven is in contact with kitchen furniture from the bottom and on one side, and with a dishwasher on the other side. And despite years of neighbors with pyrolysis, it doesn't bother them.
This symbol looks like three rows of three small squares placed in a large square. Here is the manual page for this oven, which lists a picture of all the oven functions, including self-cleaning (pyrolysis): www.manualslib.com/manual/600780/Zanussi-Zop37902xk.html?page=7#manual
The result is amazing, the video is great and I don't get the downvotes as it does exactly what the title promises. Removing the side grips looks annoying.
Mine doesn't have a p function It vapour clean and not one video on how to operate the vapour clean. Unlike this very good that shows you the settings on the vapour clean they don't show you how to set the function. Please could do a Vapour Clean ovens because spent 3hours on it nothing happening and the Smeg Helpline is shut for weekend. I am thinking of returning the oven Please help
I'm sorry but I don't know how to use oven vapour cleaning. My oven doesn't have this function. Perhaps you can find help at this link help.smeguk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/96/~/what-is-vapour-cleaning-and-how-do-i-use-it%3F
I don't know the max temp inside the oven during pyrolysis. This information isn't in the oven manual and the max operating temp of my oven is 300 deg C. When the oven is turned on (pyrolysis, baking, roasting), the cooling fan turns on automatically to keep the oven surface cool. Therefore, the temp outside really rises a little. But it does not cause inconvenience or concern.
Oven racks are not designed to withstand the high temperature of the self-cleaning. The racks may warp, discolor, and lose its shine due to the extreme heat. Also self-cleaning may damage the special coating used on these racks, which is designed to help them slide in and out of the oven with ease.
The user manual says there is a risk of damage to the oven, shelf supports, and accessories. During pyrolysis, only the oven lamp is in the oven, and it is off.
Sorry for the late response I just saw your comment. To stop cleaning before it's completed, turn the knob to the off. The door will unlock when the oven gets cold.
My oven was my nans before mine I've had it 4yrs and she had meny yrs before that and the fans still going strong, when its time for a new one I will buy another fan oven as the difference it makes to cooking times is worth it
you stil have to wash the oven glass door. its a crappy feature for inferior electric ovens. this why chefs prefer gas ovens: because they cook better especially meats.
I still have to wash the oven door, racks, drip pans and grill shelves with my hands. It's true. But the self-cleaning is excellent with cleaning an oven grill and walls. And as for the preferences... Maybe it's not the ovens, and it's the chef... 😉
Very often we don't have this time and dirt piles up. And I have never been able to cope well with dirt in the grill area with an oven cleaner. After self-cleaning in this area, the dirt turns into dry, non-greasy ash and is easily removed with a damp cloth.
I never really thought about it that way. And I had never heard this instrument before. Thanks to your mention about hammered dulcimer, I found this track: "Woodland Dance. Hammered Dulcimer with Cello & Percussion. Acoustic Cinematic Music". That was absolutely amazing, thank you!
. I recently used the cleaning cycle. It baked the gunk onto glass on door & the floor, so that I spent longer scraping the gunk off than had I just cleaned oven normally. Won't be using it again. Would not recommend this type oven. Waste of money.
The oven self-cleaning saves me a lot of time and effort, and I'm really sorry to hear you had a negative experience. Would you mind sharing the brand or model name of your oven?

Recently bought a new oven with this feature. I'm a bit wary of it, but I'm going to try it for the first time right now!
It would be great if you talked about your experience. Thank you in advance ☺
How often can I use this feature on my Zanussi oven which arrived today?
@@Rita50 how often you need it. I think once few weeks is enough.
@@artorias550 never used this feature in 2 years.

Did it catch fire?
This has got to be the first gimmick in history that actually fucking functions well.
How often do you use this and does oven still work?
So far, so good. It's enough for me to use the self-cleaning function once every six months. But I cook in the oven not so often. It's a couple of times a week, no more.
Thanks.
How do you clean the racks?
I find I have to put in a bath tub and wire wool them as they're too big for the sink.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!

I put them in a big zippy bag spray with chemicals of choice seal and leave well alone for a few hours 👍🏼🇬🇬

Hello, can you please tell me, after 5 years of using pyrolysis, is the furniture around the oven not damaged?

great video was wondering how my racks came out, felt like i was about to snap it so this video helped me keep pulling it as it was very tight!
Oh yes, they come out very tight. The first time I was afraid that I would break something. Glad you found it helpful. Thanks for the comment 🤗
Amazing result! Did it clean the glass door too? X
Self-cleaning perfectly cleans the oven walls, but it's useless for a glass door. Unfortunately, I have to wash the oven door with oven cleaners.
Helpful, thank you!
whats the symbol for the self clean? i have the same oven and i dont get it which is it

Merciiiii!!!
Hi Koala, what type of brand and model is this oven? ty in advance :)
I'm so sorry about missed your question! This is a Zanussi ZOP37902XK oven.
Not something you need to do all the time, but it definitely does the job. No cleaning solvents required.

Thanks for watching and your feedback! The side grips were a little bit stuck 🥺☺️

Why do you need to remove shelves before doing self cleaning?
Oven racks are not designed to withstand the high temperature of the self-cleaning. The racks may warp, discolor, and lose its shine due to the extreme heat. Also self-cleaning may damage the special coating used on these racks, which is designed to help them slide in and out of the oven with ease.

Avec pyrolyse c'est cool mais chaque n'a pas à la maison
You're right. But when considering buying a new oven, I wouldn't mind having a self-cleaning. It's a really huge relief from chores.
Why don’t you leave the racks in the oven?
The user manual says there is a risk of damage to the oven, shelf supports, and accessories. During pyrolysis, only the oven lamp is in the oven, and it is off.
Is this a Beko oven?
This is a Zanussi oven.
Koala Sewing thank you. My Beko oven has the exact same feature and I used it for the first time yesterday after watching your video 👍🏼
I'm glad my video turned out to be useful for you. This great feature saves me a lot of time and effort ;)
Do i need to heat up the oven ??
Yes, the function pyrolysis heats the oven to very high temperatures. Dirt turns to ash by this.
Wow i imagine this being done in cremation ovens 😎
Well, something like this 🙃
Doesn't work on my two Siemens Ovens. Just bakes it on even harder.

Electricity bill? 😂😂. Pyrolyse uses a lot of electricity I think
Not really. This oven uses about 5 kWh of electricity per pyrolysis cycle. It's not much ;)
