    i'm a Barrow AFC supporter and last season when MK came to Barrow their fans had a flag saying FA Cup winners 1988 and something about the real Dons printed on it, i've never seen such a disgraceful flag at any football ground and i've been going to matches for over 40 years, i dread to think what Wimbledon fans would have made of it

      Well said. I have a lot of time for Wimbledon as a Grimsby fan, and will be at your place on Saturday. We are awful by the way so you should beat us easy. Combined Counties League is not park football. Sure previously it did have clubs like Tongham and Cranleigh on basic grounds yet sides like Badshot Lea and Raynes Park Vale have stepped up from it in more recent years.
    All grounds have to adhere to ground grading levels. Our club has played a few CCL clubs in the FA Vase before we got promoted to Step 4. It's a feeder to the Isthmian or Southern League a level which MK City were once at. You presented well though on this difficult subject!

No point even trying to explain how huge the FA Cup used to be-it REALLY was on a par with winning the league with huge crowds for every round. Look at it now-even the 3rd and 4th tier clubs get tiny crowds and cant be bothered with it, scrapped basically because the TV sports franchise and the PL franchise clubs want more Euro games. The next step will be PL games played abroad then its a shoe in for the ESL and a closed shop PL. Hello
    Good video.
    Carlisle United fan here.
    We as football fans should indeed never forget this. It should never be allowed to happen again! EVER!!
    For AFC Wimbledon fans it is of course going to matter.
    The perception of MK with the wider football community is partly rooted in a fairly snooty attitude and perception of the town of Milton Keynes.
    Winkleman is and will always be more than just a ‘pantomime villain’.
    I think we should never forget but should move on from ‘hating’ Milton Keynes.
    I can’t help but be happy for Wimbledon though.

    • @aidanwotherspoon905
      @aidanwotherspoon905 19 дней назад +1

      If Franchise gets relegated out of the league, then we can start moving on from “hating” them. Twenty years of Milton Keynes playing in a spot they didn’t earn is worse than 19 years of it, but better than 21 years. Heck, if they gave up their spot voluntarily and decided to start over in the combined counties league, they could name their club “True Dons 1988 FA Cup Champions” if they wanted as far as I’m concerned

    Controversial opinion : Franchise is a good idea, so long as CLUBS CAN'T MOVE LOCATION ! If the league held the clubs licence, then they could boot out unscrupulous owners and the club and their league status would be protected. This would stop many clubs from going bust ( Bury FC ) There would need to be other rules in place too to stop further mis-management though. And they would still need to be independently owned and ran properly.
