  • On October 7th 2017, I attended one of the newest event IRM hosted and that was the new Milwaukee Transit Day event. On this day, Railroad Equipment and Buses that served the city of Miwaukee Wisconsin were brought out and operated for public desplay and operation, Electric railroads such as the North Shore Line, Wisconsin Electric Power & Company, The Milwaukee Electric Railway & Light Company, The East Troy Electric, and The Milwaukee Electric Railway & Transportation Company. There were also buses operating for the day and a Trolley Bus from the Milwaukee & Suburban Transport gave rides around the grounds and to give people a quicker ride to the Bus Stop Shop which was still open from the previous Bus Days event. The Motor Bus took visitors to the newer storage barns (which are not open to the public) but on this day they allowed visitors to see some of the hidden prices of equipment from the Milwaukee area that were stored in Barns 11 (which also featured a lot of equipment from the Milwaukee Road) and 13. Sadly by 2:30PM in the afternoon the heavens opened up and it started to rain, while it may have put a sligt damper for the rest of the event, when the rain finally stoped, the activity in the museum was not over yet, The Steam Department wanted to give some steam engines stored in the back of Barn 9 on track 94 a good clean wash (which were CB&Q 2-8-2 #4963, L&A 2-8-0 #99 and CwEd 0-6-0 #5) after collecting alot of dust from indoor storage. To get to them they had to move all the other engines stored in front of them out of the way, providing a rare oportunity to see these engines outside for a change. All in all, it was a great way to end a fantastic day to finish off the year of filming at IRM for 2017.

...I wonder if they have different route numbers/destinations on Transport Co. #972. Would love to see the old #40 KK & St Francis displayed as well as #441 sporting the #15 Oakland Delaware destination.
