That was a nice list, no matter which city or town you like to visit in Germany at Christmas time, you will not get disappointed. It's almost everywhere quite nice, with a lovely atmosphere. It's all about enjoying a good time.
As a Belgian I thought our Christmas markets were big but oh my gosh, German Christmas markets are HUGE. I'd like to do them all someday, especially Aachen, Cologne and Dortmund which are not fair from the German-Belgian border
christmas makets are always outside and they are in almost every town, the christmas markets in the smaller towns are mostly nicer than in the big ones and its so much fun to go have a after work party there or enjoy it just with friends and family every day or at the weekends...
8:37 not a peach but an apple, filled with jam and vanillasauce.. easy to make at home, just remove the core, fill it with jam and and bake it at 220°C for 20 mins. Or wrap the apple with aluminiumfoil and throw it in a firepit :)
Nit necessarily filled with jam. There are a number of recipes, but the most usual options are marzipan or honey paired with almonds or walnuts, some people add raisins and naturally you have to put butter on it.
The german "noodles" in the first minute are called spätzle and are delicious. Certainly when they are freshly made. And the "meatbals" at 7:40 is actualy a Curry-wurst.
Sorry, but that is not an accurate list. She was mainly in western Germany obviously, and then did some trips to bigger cities in other parts such as Stuttgart, Berlin, Munich and Dresden. Check markets in the Harz mountains, in Nuremberg, Bamberg, Rothenburg, Hamburg etc. etc. Most of them will be much much better than Dortmund or Essen or Esslingen.
Im usually running a stall on the Christmas markets, but the pandemic ruined everything and now we rarely have any markets happening. It’s a shame. I’m broke, my business is broke, everything is meeehhh😢

Stunned how you pronounced 'Aachen' perfectly. - Do you have Scottish ancestors? ;) (Scots are generally known to be the only native English speakers who are able to pronounce the German "ch" sound as in 'Aachen' (or 'Loch') correctly.)
The German ch is pronounced differently within Germany. So pronouncing it one way only makes it right in certain parts of Germany. There are plenty of Slavic languages that pronounce it the same way as many of the German dialects, but completely differently to Scottish... or any other English.
@@bremCZ it depends which vowel is previous to the "ch". If it's an an a, o or u, it's pronounced like in Aachen. If it's an e or i, it sounds like a soft "sch"
At the beginning of the video, the noodles you saw are spätzle. The noodles are egg noodles. There are usually a few different sauces you can have on top of them: Mushroom sauce, herb sauce, cheese sauce, browned butter sauce and tomato/cheese sauce. The little wooden booths are put up and taken down every year. It's nice to be outside in the cold drinking warm drinks like Glühwein [glue-vine] (which is a spiced mulled wine), Eierpunsch (a warm, sweetened alcoholic, egg-based drink similar to egg nog) or hot chocolate. The Advent/Christkindl/Christmas markets usually begin the last week/weekend of November until December 22. It is usually open every day from 11:00am-9:00pm.
no matter what you do, on what you react to, this was just one pick, but your opening is "of another world". both of you are so aweful. the glamerous, "wummi-ball", cheers-blond and always fantastic, him, the "not-for-her-done" yet fit perfectly together. love it, laugh-it, love you both, great job. your german videos are best.
Yeah, but many of them didn't return since 2019 due the pandemic. My family, especially the now 6-year-old, miss them and hope for return in christmas 2022...
Season's greetings from Stuttgart 👋 🌟✨ Sadly due to high Covid numbers all the Christmas Markets here in the South of Germany including Stuttgart and Esslingen have been cancelled. Watching this video with you made me really miss that special atmosphere..
I used to live in elsen in Germany we went to dortmund Market every year its just amazing ever since moving back to the UK you can't get decent currywurst anywhere
Fun facts: The Thumbnail picture of the source video and of your video is the FRANKFURT Christmas Market, who didn’t make the content creator‘s list… Also, I fail to understand how this list can’t have the Nuremberg Christmas Market on top or at least almost on top…
Its her favrite list nürberg and all the markets in east Germany are Beauty as well like Schneeberg with the Bergparade . We have so much Markets here in Germany so its not easy to see them all :o)
Wow, Kati, when you repeated Aachen that was a perfect rendition of this version of the most hated diphtong in the German language, the 'CH' sound. I am amazed. Most non-native German speakers either render it into a 'k' sound or a 'sh' sound (sorry, I have no idea how to use phonetic spelling, never learned it). But yours was perfect on the throat scratching quality. Nice and keep on practicing! 👍 Aachen was the final destination for all new Kaiser / emperors in the Holy Roman empire when they toured throughout all German states during their crowning ceremony. With there being an ever increasing number of nations but ever decreasing ground area due to splitting off parts for the next generation of heirs to a throne, this could take quite some time for most emperors before returning to their respective German home nation. In its history the Holy Roman Empire of Germanic Nations (as it was called in its entirety) consisted from roughly a dozen major states to well over 200 more or less tiny nations, all interlocked in feudal familial connections somehow. All of that stuff of who, why, when and where had to be settled among all the kings and nobility long before a new emperor was chosen and crowned. Aachen always was the final destination for the crowning so it is a fairly old city in Germany.
Well, that was all pre-Corona...I live in Germany, havent been to a Christmas Market in two years. Last year there were non, this year they closed them down before I had the chance. They lacked visitors anyway with all the controls etc. And should Corona ever end there probably wont be Christmas markets because all the vendors are bancrupt after two or three years without income.
Fun fact about the Cologne cathedral: It‘s building started in 1248. But after they ran out of money, they finished it with the help of a rich „investor“ and through donations in 1880. So it took more than 630 years to finish the Cologne cathedral. But it didn‘t took that long to actually build it. 😉 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cologne_Cathedral

u should also use an specific apple called Boskoop for that to get the best out of it ;)
My favorite recipe is a filling out of almonds and raisins with a sauce out of orange juice and orange liqueur.
