    What year was the replacement engine?
    I have been looking in the parts Interchange and it shows 11-12 or 13-15 but looking at them 11-15 the Engines look identical. I was trying to find out if I can put a 11-12 engine in my 15

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  Месяц назад

      The ealier years up to around 14 I believe were using the 2.4l mpi . They later switched to the 2.0l gdi from around 14 and up. That is my best understanding but maybe someone else can chime in. I put back the same year in my 13 , but they were probably much easier to find at the time. I would try and find a 15 to 19 . The engines should be the same for hybrid ans plug n hybrid. Hope this helps.

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  2 года назад

      A 2.4l around this year would work as long as it is the mpi and not gdi. All of these engines are pretty pricey. Thanks for the feedback.

    Hello, on my 2013 Hyundai Sonata hybrid, when the gas engine is activated, you hear a screeching sound but only the second it is activated, could it be the starter motor? And another question is, where can I find the engine block heater? I would be very grateful if you could help me with these questions since I see that you are a mechanic with a lot of experience!

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  9 месяцев назад

      The noise could be a bearing or some issue with the engine start generator. As far as the heater , I am not aware of it. Hope this helps.

    Hey what’s up man I got a question. I did exactly what did but I just replaced main seal then sat back in. Car isn’t fully put together still on jacks haven’t installed axels but I tried to start it and told me to check the HEV SYSTEM ?! Any idea what it can be 2017 Hyundai hybrid sonata limited edition

      Other than double checking everything , and putting it all back together I do not have much input. I would say these cars are very computerized , with the brake regeneration power supply etc. It could be that it senses the axles etc not being connected and is throwing a code . Hope this helps.

    How hard was it to start the engine up? I replaced my motor and I go to start the engine. The belt squeals and the engine will not start. I can turn the belt assembly by hand and the motor does turn but it won’t start. Triple checked everything. I haven’t added coolant yet but otherwise everything is together. Any help would be much appreciated!!!

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  2 года назад +1

      A lot of times I will have to spray a little starter fluid to get the engine going. I don't know if it's due to the engines sitting around or what. If still no luck , I would check the compression quickly. I know it does not take much to drain these hybrid batteries. You may go back and just check wires and grounds . Any little thing will cause these no starts , it has happened to me many times. Thanks for the feedback.

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  2 года назад

      It is tempting to remove that way. It will depend on if you can remove enough from the engine front in order to separate the engine from the drive assembly. I first thought is to say no , because there is so little room , but I cannot say for sure. Thank you for the feedback.

  • @shobud7561

    Actually, you could fill the transmission at the sight plug .
    That's what I've done on the hybrids because of that filler plug being so hard to assess.

    Hello, i have a 2012 hyundai and i've trying to solve a "bucking" or "jerking" issue at low speeds or braking, happens the worst when going uphill in a parking garage. i've changed the motor mounts serpentine belt and transmission fluid. i dont have any codes pulling up and everytime i take it to the dealership to get a diagnosis they cant seem to replicate the issue to diagnose. could you possibly shot me in the right direction ? im hoping its not the transmission as i live in hawaii and finding replacements is kinda hard and expensive

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  2 года назад

      I can just add that mine does the same but not as often. When coming to a stop sometimes or taking off from slow speeds on occasion. I know my transmission is new , so wondered myself if something was finicky with the hybrid motor switching from the engine. Anyways it is usually the transmission but these hybrid are made a little different. Wish I could be more help. Thanks for the feedback.

    can i put a hybrid engine in to my regular sonata engine?

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  3 года назад

      The regular sonata 2.4l has the gdi , that is the first issue . Then youd have to use the hybrid ecm and I am not even sure about the programming , with the engine coming from the hybrid. Wire harness , flex plate etc. So I guess the short answer would be no because of rhe extensive work. However I would be interested to know if anyone has tried this type of swap. Great question and thank you for the feedback.

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  2 года назад

      If the hybrid battery shows charge , then it should turn over when you hit the gas. If its cranking over but not starting theres another issue. Starter fluid may help get it going initially. Hope its up and running soon. Thanks for watching.

    A mechanic brought in a 2012 Hybrid Sonata to my garage, it was displaying check HV system. It all started after replacing the transmission, Please is there any programming or reset needed to be done after replacing the transmission or what do you think is the problem.
    I'll be looking forward to your reply :)

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  Год назад +1

      No programming I am aware of. They usually have to have the learned adaptation reset , to shift properly . Now the generator/electric motor has to be sync with the transmission I believe , so that would have to be adapted. I really wish I could be more help. If there were no battery issues before maybe it's something simple , forgotten ground , connector etc. Hope you get this solved .
