What a beautiful testimony from your guest today. It touched my heart 💜 thank you thank you thank you for doing this to help us commoners to follow Christ and repent.
We are and will always be the last acceptable prejudice and target for evil in the war in heaven on earth. Oh how it must bring tears to the Savior, our friend’s eyes, when He sees us squabble amongst ourselves. 💔
I feel that when the temples were closed during the pandemic it was a time of cleansing of the temple. That we can reevaluate ourselves . That when we enter again our hands are clean and our hearts are pure
Thank you for sharing this week of Section 109 & 110 what wonderful section and thank you for guess Dr. Brent Rogers for his church history knowledge and testimony. Have a spiritual weekend General Conference to listen our Heavenly Father Prophet and Apostles. 👍
When Hank was talking about the darkness/contention before the wonderful visions that Joseph had, something clicked in my mind. There was so much contention and misery in my life this past week that it gives me great hope for what General Conference has in store for me and my life. ❤❤
This was so awesome !I watched both parts this afternoon and I have learned so much. I love studying the scriptures in this format, hearing you guys and experts discuss the scriptures. thank you for the work that you put into it and the inspiration that you operate under and for the quality of these podcasts.. thank you so much!
If you want to learn more about Section 109-110 read THE SAVIOR IN KIRTLAND by Karl Ricks Anderson This book will change the way you see and read these accounts. I have leaned so much. Thanks to both of you for these wonderful podcast that you do each week. I have learned a lot from each of you and for those professors that have come on and have shared their great knowledge with us. What a blessing to have these podcasts.
Timestamp 3:45-4:30 Smith and Bytheway note the language used by the prophet, quoting verbatim the instruction given to the Saints of the purpose and expectation associated with this temple, and acknowledging it as done in the dedicatory prayer. That is precisely the order of heaven. Our ordinances show the need for following instructions verbatim, including baptism and sacrament. When we participate in the presentation of the endowment, we are shown that, in the order of heaven when instruction is given, God’s words should be carefully followed and then reported back as completed, repeating the instruction that was given in our report to God. This is actually quite a remarkable example of the heavenly order being followed here on earth, and before the presentation of the endowment was restored in the temple! I’m so glad they pointed this out, even though I don’t think they quite connected the prayer with the principle. Wow. The prophet Joseph Smith was truly amazing!!!
powerful closing testimony! I can't imagine the spiritual outpouring the early saints witnessed, but I know it sustained the Kirtland saints for what they would endure in Missouri until they could reach the next level in Nauvoo. I so appreciate the church historians you bring in to give us the backstory.
An important part of section 110 was the coming of Elijah, prophecy states that he would return at Passover. Note that Sunday April was the 2nd day of Passover (17 Nissan 5596) and it was Easter. Interesting that a lot of the important events occur on Jewish feast. The first vision came at Passover, Moroni came at the Feast of Trumpets (the finial harvest), the church was organized on Passover and the Lord's birthday, and then Elijah!

The magnificent painting Brother Bytheway refers to near the end of this segment is on the last page of this lesson in the Come, Follow Me manual.
Interesting note is that in 109:36-37 he speaks about the day of Pentacost which had the same manifestations that happened in Acts 2:2-4.
