Hi David great video, I know you're trying hard not to be despondent about the TS9s and you're doing a great job but I can see deeply like all of us we are really upset with TS9 lol. ... For me I take my modem away a lot enough to answer and reinsert I find sometimes a very fine amount of pressure equivalent to that of your index finger and your thumb on the TS9 connector just gives it a little bit of grip other than that I have the modem lying on a flat surface and the TS9s just fitting in and no more with no pull on them from gravity.... ...
I know we spoke about male TS9 to female SMA adapters to fit on the nighthawk for example...but I figured the problems would just be the same ... It would not for example make it any more snug the TS9 would still wobble
TS9 connectors are awful. They just fall out. Why don't they don't use a SMA is beyond me. I have been thinking about hot gluing a TS9 to SMA pig tail to the modem.
I have to be polite in my opinion on camera, and can't use the words I really want to use for the TS9 connectors. Aweful is still a very polite way to describe them :)
I got ts9 connectors 3 meter to keep signal more away from me and i use rf meter...i a valley and it kinda bumped it up to three bars goes back and forth it seems and the nighthawk is what i use...the speeds are about same without attennas...
I think one needs to start by looking at the cable type. If it's RG174 (ie black cable that's about 3mm diameter) you have lossy cable and it might make little difference on the performance once the cable is too long. I consider anything more than 1m long too long for those types of cables. It might be better to use thicker and lower loss coaxial cable.
@RFShop not sure just a ts9 cable two of them that actually goes with the nighthawk and would rather have directional antennas and i choose the 3 meter to have it away from me...and my emf meter shows its good distance away from me
@@clarkkenttheman you could rely on the WiFi from the NightHawk and then you are able to be more than 3m away. As for the cables, I think that it is indeed poor quality RG174. You are likely to get a much better performance using a custom cable. Are you located in AU or elsewhere? I can send a quote if you are in Australia, or send you some suggestions if you could tell me your location. My email is david@rfshop.com.au
Did you buy from RFShop or elsewhere. There are many types that looks similar to TS9 but could be other types. Perhaps check the drawings from the manufacturer
It is beyond me why anyone would design something as poor as the TS9 connector. It never feels like it's connected. Far too long They should have been made to locate inside the case of the modem. I have seen a shorter version but I don't know if they are any better.
@@RFShop David, I have had 2 M5s and both of them have stopped working with the internal antennas but connect fine with a mimo. I returned the first one thinking it was just a one off faulty unit but now the second one is doing the same thing. Have you had the same problem and is the M6 going to do the same thing. I rely on them for mobile streaming and the mimo isn't always practical. Doug.
@@dugsbugs1 not familiar with that problem. I talk about the NightHawks because they are so common, but I am not a fan :) If you want reliable external antenna upgrades I would consider the Teltonika brand instead
@@RFShop Thanks. I just upgraded to the m6 today if you can call it an upgrade so I'll see how this one goes. Cost me nothing with the reworking of all my plans so fingers crossed.
I'm also listening to any potential feedback :) TS9 is a lovely connector...the person who invented them and the companies who decided to make them mainstream for their budget friendly devices deserve a special mention in the wireless industry hall of fame. NOT
I ordered TS9 connectors and when i got them they actually didn't work. So I thought I was stupid because I ordered the wrong thing. But no... I use a "now out dated" Huawie B618s. I did a search and found "Dual port Antenna Adapter Cable TS9 20" for Huawei B618 B618s 4G LTE WIFI router" thus confirming it is a TS9. I looked at the connector and it just did not fit. So upon asking around i was told you get "good connectors" and very "bad" connectors the connectors I got was the BAD connector and darn near broke my router trying to get them to connect.
hey, so you did end up finding good connectors? I brought mine from Jaycar and they seem terrible in this video it looks like a more robust and better seated than I am able to get. do you remember the supplier?

Yes, I'm not a fan of the TS9 at all :)
Good video, even with the sma and rpsma i connect a short cable to connect and disconnect antennas
Yes, we need to every trick on the book to try and avoid damage to these connectors
Ts9 - not the best antennae connector. SMA is far better but we got wot we got.
Agreed...it is what it is.

Like before / below...don't like the fact that someone thought it's a good idea to develop and propose TS9's

Hi sir hope you well i have zte router now and strugling to find a outdoors attena ts9 for mine do you have any expert advice for me using rain
Perhaps aim to keep it simple and use the XPOL-2 ?

My ts9 connections are so loose they just fall out, pins look okay

Could not have said it any better. They are all equally terrible…unfortunately. Cheap…all comes down to cost 🤦🏼♂️

Yes...I'm not a huge fan of TS9 to be perfectly honest. But we have to deal with them the best we can

I'd love to know where to buy one
Where in the www are you ?
I don't understand why If the TS9 moves on a ZTE it won't connect to 5G anymore.
No sure. Seems that it needs a reset
TS9 is an abomination - what were they thinking
Cheap is the only word that comes to mind :(
