Season 1 was the reason I watched in the first place so I do rewatch the reason I even started Bridgerton mostly the first episode cause I think it’s on the best eps for a series.

The man who's crying over the coffin is the young woman's father and Charlotte's oldest son George the Prince Regent future George the Fourth. His wife is probably not with him for the same reason that they only had one child - they hated each other.

fun fact: Many historians and scholars believe that the actual Queen Charlotte was descended from black people (this rumor has been around for a while, even before Bridgerton aired) Many different people would paint portraits of Queen Charlotte. In a lot of them, she looks like a regular white lady, but some portraits of her displayed her having some black features. These were done by artist who were known to be against slavery. At the time, painters would downplay features that were seen as "undesirable" (there is a scene like this in the later episodes) but these painters who were against slavery would paint her with these features. and it has been stated that Queen Charlotte was directly descended from a black branch of the portuguese royal house. ig we will never know the truth, but I kind of believe it😭🤭🫶🏽
She had an ancestor from north Africa 12 generations before she was born. So she might have had some features but she wasn't black.
for the portraits, everyone always posed like that, it had nothing to do with their love, and since the king's health deteriorated as he got older, he most likely didn't even pose for those pictures, and they just painted him in later

I have never seen a single episode of Bridgerton, but was intrigued by the poster for Queen Charlotte. So I had to come watch you react to the show because I honestly don't have time to watch the full episodes. So first off, I'm like, "Of course they're racist". Nothings changed... We see how they treat Meaghan and her kids... mmhmm... Secondly, I am at work watching this, so when that creature of a man popped up at 7:20, I literally almost screamed out loud. I am disgusted. 🤮 I would have had to find the nearest tower window and took a leap of faith before I would have laid with that man. Lawd, help her. 😩
