I personally would vote for no kitchen window coverings . I love a great view while working in the kitchen , and you have one , why block it . Awesome work as always and happy to see you back , Happy New Year .
I agree. My mother’s house had a kitchen window of a similar size, the view was our garden, a stream and the huge trees beyond. We never had any curtains or blinds on the window as the view was so good. 😂
Another vote for no window covering. I live in the country and we have no curtains. No one's going to be looking in, so why block the light and the wonderful view we have?
My vote is no window covering for the kitchen! Bring the beautiful view to you daily as you cook in your kitchen or wash the dishes. Your work already accomplished in the kitchen is simply awesome. Keep on getting your health back!
Missed you guys, you're pretty much my favorite channel. I've done a lot of things in my life and a lot of it was with metal. You're showing me stuff with lumber . I built my own band saw mill and have started making projects with the lumber that l have cut. Love the attention to detail that you have ❤
Happy New Year. Sorry to hear you were ill. I also developed a heavy cold and awful cough, just had to bail out of a birthday party today and i know several people in the same sorry state. 2025 is going to be a real turning point for you with your lovely kitchen. Looking forward to following the journey ❤. Take care. Love the taps and ceramic draining boards.
Budo reminds me of my great grandfather. He was a wood worker who made banjos, guitars, and dulcimers, as well as other instruments. When I was a kid, he had me convinced that to make a banjo, he just bored a hole in the wood and put bees inside to hollow out the body. Thanks for sparking such a great memory.
Missed you both, delighted your okay, love your take on the taps but for me your windows are the true stars, like eyes to the soul, wishing you all the best for 2025 and thanks for all your videos, as always love from Ireland ❤
Yep, you tricked me! I think you made a great choice switching out the faucet, it goes well with the sink and drainboards. I would be concerned about breaking my glasseware and such on the ceramic drainboard though. And i think Tracy is right, the window and the view are too beautiful to cover up! I hope you have a healthy 2025!
Thank you 🙏 for your comment it was a good one wasn’t it 🥰we are really chuffed with the taps. We are both really excited for this year as there are big projects a foot I. E finish the kitchen, worship and dining room and these will all be such a big game changer for us. Happy new year to you 🥰🎉🥳xxx
So sorry you got covid again, I do hope you got to enjoy your time with family. Everything looks beautiful ! Happy New Year 🎉. Take care of yourself and get plenty of rest it will still be there when you get better 😊
Please be careful, COVID, followed by bronchitis .... As someone who has had COVID 4 times, I can tell you I had lung issues for about a month after each bought. Watch your energy and rest. I'm so glad you are feeling better! I love the drainage trays. I'm not fond of dishwashers. The rest of the kitchen is looking lovely. The view from the kitchen window is gorgeous. It doesn't need to be covered. I didn't fall for the wood filler trick. I'm not a carpenter. I know it shrinks and cracks some. I'm glad you changed the tap. It goes so much better with your cottage. Please have a good cup of tea and a rest now. Take it easy. See you next vlog.😊
Thank you 🙏 it has been a nasty virus going through the family and children? It put our son in bed for two days which is very unusual. Happy new year to you 🥂🥳🎉🥰
When you said about making the hole disappear, I thought "new piece of timber" but the Hocus Pocus label made me certain... Sticking putty in the tap hole was a bit like" The Quatermass experiment" .The other tap with spring thing is on my son's sink... Could never get my head round it.... Hi Bob and thank you yes them taps did leak some times and tarnish but normally it was down to how and were they were made these ones are guaranteed and solid as well as a good well known company its all down to what you pay for things i think today buddy
Sorry you have been poorly, hope you make a speedy recovery.thats looking lovely.still think the tomets are better in the dining room than the kitchen.think how much time and effort you will save with a wood floor in the kitchen.much easier to mop!also standing on a hard floor knackers your legs over time.brilliant renovation, best wishes
Good to see you both back, sorry to hear you have been unwell Budo, hopefully you will be fully recovered soon, love the sink drainers a very good addition. Kitchen is coming along well.. Glad you had a good time in the UK.. Take care and best wishes for 2025 Robb Torremolinos Spain xxx
You little trickster!! I was having a wow moment about the fact that the hole was gone but straight away Paul said, he’s cut another strip of wood😂 gave us both a belly laugh. Kitchen is looking fantastic 👍 Bonne Annee to you both xx
Great vlog Budo and Tracy and Happy New Year, sad to hear of health probs coming home and getting over it now. I was very intrigued on how the hole would be filled till I saw you putting the putty in the hole! Good pun, lol. Looking good in the kitchen. New year, stay well you two.
The kitchen is looking great, although it is a shame you needed to redo the tap, but I think it looks much more 'authentic'. I have always preferred the two handle taps versus the modern mono taps - it always seems that something goes wrong with them. It will not be long now before you guys will be having a 'new' kitchen corner, and "Tracy's Home Cooking" segment. Glad that you guys are back.
Hi Truman yes your right the mono block taps can give problems later down the line I'm fighting back to fitness now and concentrating on the kitchen then the barn for the first part of this year with a little bit of planking logs in between buddy
I was hoping you'd show us how to make a patch in wood. I have a 110 year old door frame with holes from multiple locks. Rebuilding the door frame is out of the question because it's American Chestnut that will be varnished and it's basically impossible to find as the forests were wiped out by a blight in the 1910s. A restoration carpenter friend filled it with wood filler and it look awful. I am thinking about going back and cutting a hole (round) and a plug from scrap chestnut. Obviously in your situation, replacing the board is better, but I would have loved to see how to do the repair. Sometimes this is necessary in antique furniture or architectural restoration. You definitely did the right thing for your situation and it's beautiful. But if you are ever in a situaiton where you need to make a patch, I'd love to see how you do it.
Hi there thank you some times patching things to perfection and not to be seen is difficult some times its best to show the wooden patch by using a contrasting wood and say making it into what we call a butter fly patch but it all depends ill try a do some thing in the future to show what i mean all the best Budo
So happy that you are recovering and back. We do look forward to your videos. The music this week was unusual and quite beautiful. However, I could not place it. Could you tell me what it was?
Oh Tracie, you got there my Dream kitchen 🥰 Absolutly stuning and the highest quality ! Congrats for the best Artisan master incharge 😜 Prosperous 2025 and keep healthy 🙏🏼
Love you both. Such wonderful work. It’s going to be beautiful. One thing, please, you gotta quit interrupting your wife! Let her finish her statements.
Kitchens can be quite bare, so I personally love having a little rag by the sink to have nice feel while I work by the sink and on the window I would put very short voile valance, which would not obstruct or block the view but soften the feel of the space. They now have loads of colours and feelings like muslin and such, so can look cool. I have white with a pale green stripe and it looks good 😊
Nice to see you back, sorry to hear you've been ill Budo. I have horizontal blinds in my kitchen, they fold up tightly & are useful if I need shade from the sun (on rare occasions haha)
Maybe you could consider a remote control roller blind. I have replace my window covering with one. Comes in many shades and fabric type . I love it. Like you I don’t pull them down but can if needed. Have a good heath and happy new year. Take care of one another. Regards 🙋♀️🥂🙏
The kitchen is looking beautiful. I fully agree with your new choice of tap. What colour have you painted the cupboards so far? Wishing you both a happy healthy new year:-)
Thank you so much we are glad to 🥰the cabinets are painted in Bone by farrow and ball and the island, pantry and larder cupboards are going to be in a contrasting colour which compliments the cabinets perfect all will be revealed soon 🙏🥰🥳
Hi Cyril i think it would be hard to find them in France as this was a very British thing from the Victorian period but they are readily available in the UK second hand and new from £30 up to £200 for the real old ones hope this helps
Great idea the new taps and wow the ceramic draining boards! Coming together slowly but surely. You both, are putting, not only so much expert knowledge into your farmhouse, but you are making this 'your' home! Such a beautiful place to call home! Thank you for taking us along in this magnificent creation. Happy New Year 🎉🎊🎈🎆 God bless you both with good health for 2025 ❤
Happy New Year!! So happy to see you back. Sorry to hear Budo was under the weather for a time. The new kitchen is so beautiful even though it is still a work in progress. You know how much I love your channel and I am looking forward to Tracey cooking up a storm in her new kitchen soon. Blessing for you both in 2025!😊
Happy New Year to you both. Sorry you were ill over the holidays. Those holidays can run a person down, especially when travel is involved. Stay on the mend and hope for better times ahead Thanks for showing us the sink, and yes, I knew you were having us on.😂 I like the new farmhouse tap for there. Best wishes for 2025. I will bevtuning in!❤
In the states houses have a pressure reduction valve (PRV) right after it comes out of the meter. That protects your fittings from too high pressure. I know because our PRV was over 30 years old and was reducing the pressure too much and could no longer be adjusted so it had to be replaced. By the way convincing the plumbing supply shop that you need a PRV, when you are a woman, is not always straight forward.
We do know about the pressure valve you can get but all the fittings inFrance are up to 10 bar pressure and yes we can imagine. Thank you for watching and a happy new year to you 🥂🎉🥳
Good to hear you are on the mend - and that you are a survivor...it's that time of year, isn't it!!! The farmhouse tap is the way to go, the first one was nice but this one is fabulous. Hau'oli Makahiki Hou - Happy New Year Hawaiian style🍍🍍🍍🍍🍍🍍🍍
You make me feel fortunate. That I have taken the COVID vaccines recommended. I took the last COVID and flu vaccines in the same arm last month. I had no problems. I can’t remember if you took the vaccine or not previously. I hope you feel better soon. I love the kitchen. I look forward to seeing more of your fabulous videos in 2025. 💙🇺🇸💙 I had to watch video a second time. I needed to add a positive comment for Tracy and you.
Postural drainage. Ludo, you need to tip your lungs upside down so that all the muck can drain out. Tracy you need put a towel on Ludo's chest (front and back) and do some cupping of your hands and use them to 'pound' on Ludos chest to loosen the muck in his lungs.
Glad to see you back, Happy New Year 🎉 2025 is going to be a great year for you both, the progress will be fantastic to watch and understandable you want to get things right for you so take your time xxxx
What about Cafe curtains? with a roller blind as well. That would still be farm house style. It's all looking good. :) Take a rest Budo this month, you can do a little but get stuck in, in February. I agree with the tap. I see what you mean. I'm worried though, with the gas bottle in the cupboard. Gas bottles tend to weep at times so you'll end up smelling gas. Take care. Hugs. :)
Happy new year to you both. Good to see you in this new year. May Budo have a speedy recovery from his bronchitis. Looking forward to this year’s projects. ✌🏻❤️🙏🏻🇺🇸PA
You are such hard workers. The kitchen is stunning. I think I would keep that beautiful window and view curtain free. All the best for 2025! Feel better Budo❤. Your hair looks beautiful Tracy.
Happy New Year Missed you both! Get well soon Budo. I prefer the new taps, who needs fancy modern! Personally a roller blind incase, but what do I know.
3:08 you bought my faucets! 😊 I love mine. Good choice to switch. 11:49 we call them plantation shutters. I have them. Rubbery last forever, and if you want to later, add on a valance maybe. 18:54 😂😂 Please feel better soon! ☕️
Pleased to see you back. I'm sorry to hear that you have been poorly. Covid does take its toll. The kitchen is looking lovely. Hope to see the next video soon. Wishing you both a happy, healthy New Year. X
Happy Healthy New Year to you both. Budo I thought you were going to plug it and finish it with filler so you did have me hook line and sinker 🙂looking forward to 2025 and the fabulous videos you produce.
The window looks perfect without window coverings. Unless the sun hits it directly and bothers your eyes, I would leave it as it is. Tracy I must complement you on how lovely you look today. Budo feel better soon. Happy 2025
An idea for you might be to run a wire (next time you do a trench) between the kitchen and workshop for an intercom. That way the house can talk with the shop without shouting, running out in nasty weather, etc. Love the cabinets and can't wait to see the finished room. One question is after the kitchen tiles are installed will there still be comfortable headroom at the original doorway?
It's so nice to see you back and now well. Your kitchen looks fantastic....I have the English country kitchen and I managed to get just the right tap for my porcelain sink....I agree with your thinking on the one you showed initially....I really like the one you got in England. Happy New Year to you lovely people.
Pleased to see you both, and that you are both ok, can't wait to see you finishing the kitchen for Tracy to make us some of her recipes on the stove 🎊🎊
@@FrenchFarmhouseDiaries I live in Canada, but I travel to France every year for work purposes. There are two different sizes, what weight do you need more? One appears to have the number 6 on it and the larger one has a number 7. I’m sure you know what those indicate.
No curtains, show off your beautiful work and enjoy the scenic view.
Thank you so much Cathy 🙏🥂🥳🥰
Having helped renovate a chateau a good few years now, a blind may be needed to help retain heat as the nights are freezing.
I personally would vote for no kitchen window coverings . I love a great view while working in the kitchen , and you have one , why block it .
Awesome work as always and happy to see you back , Happy New Year .
Awesome! Thank you! Great idea 🙏🥰🎉

I would definitely leave that window as it is. Anything more would be overkill and hide the beautiful window.
Thank you 🙏 happy new year to you 🥂🎉🥳🙏
Best wishes to you for the New Year 2025
Thank you 🙏🎉🥂❤️
That new faucet is stunning! Perfect for what you're wanting to accomplish.
Happy New Year!

Yes, you are definitely right. The new faucet looks much more authentic. It's worth the work to replace it. May all your wishes for 2025 come true
Happy new year! And thank you 🥂🥳🎉🙏

So glad you liked it valarie happy new year to you 🥂🎉🙏
When you said about making the hole disappear, I thought "new piece of timber" but the Hocus Pocus label made me certain... Sticking putty in the tap hole was a bit like" The Quatermass experiment" .The other tap with spring thing is on my son's sink... Could never get my head round it.... Happy New Year! I like the new faucet much better. You both look great even though you're still not 100% Budo. Have a great year.
Happy new year! 🥳 and thank you so much 🥂🎉🥳🥰
Love the new tap, I have that style in my kitchen, too, mounted high thru the backsplash. ❤
That is awesome! We love it thank you 🙏

Thank you Happy new year to you 🥂🎉🙏🥳
You make me feel fortunate.
Thank you so much Jan 🥂🙏🎉🥳yes he did have two and was very ill with them so everyone is different. Happy new year to you ❤️
Postural drainage. Ludo, you need to tip your lungs upside down so that all the muck can drain out. Tracy you need put a towel on Ludo's chest (front and back) and do some cupping of your hands and use them to 'pound' on Ludos chest to loosen the muck in his lungs.
Thanks for the tips! We have been doing the menthol crystals in the basin which is helping as well. Happy new year 🥳🙏🎉🥂
Good to see you both, Happy and healthy New Year.

It looks beautiful! Get well quick and Happy New Year!😊
Happy new year!! 🥳 and thank you 🙏 xx
Take care. Hugs. :)
Great idea! Thank you 🙏 we are going to have a vent at the back of the cabinet. Happy new year to you thank you for watching 🎉🥳🥂xx

I love mine. Good choice to switch.
11:49 we call them plantation shutters. I have them. Rubbery last forever, and if you want to later, add on a valance maybe.

Happy new year!🥳🙏🥂🎉
The window looks perfect without window coverings. Unless the sun hits it directly and bothers your eyes, I would leave it as it is. Tracy I must complement you on how lovely you look today. Budo feel better soon. Happy 2025
Thank you Sharon the view is lovely ☺️ how lovely 🙏 happy new year to you 🥂🎉🥳🙏xx
Cool idea! Thank you 🙏 happy new year to you and yes it will be fine thank you for asking 🥂🎉🙏🥳
It's so nice to see you back and now well. Your kitchen looks fantastic....I have the English country kitchen and I managed to get just the right tap for my porcelain sink....I agree with your thinking on the one you showed initially....I really like the one you got in England. Happy New Year to you lovely people.
Sounds great! Thank you and a happy new year to you 🥂🎉🥳🙏xx

@@FrenchFarmhouseDiaries health wealth and wisdom and the happy times!
Helped a buddy do some architectural salvage on an old home, I grabbed you all the sash weights! 🙂
Wow did you say you grabbed them for me and if so we're are in the world mate
@@FrenchFarmhouseDiaries
I live in Canada, but I travel to France every year for work purposes.
There are two different sizes, what weight do you need more?
One appears to have the number 6 on it and the larger one has a number 7. I’m sure you know what those indicate.
Happy New Year to you both. Hope you’re fully recovered very soon 😊
Happy new year! And thank you John 🥂🙏🎉🥳
Your kitchen is going to be wonderful. Never let Budo go he is quite handy. Many men are not. 😅
