- I miss flash more then I miss my wife. I never had a wife. but if I did Id probably still miss flash more.
The days of flash animations were so pure, so full of love, labors inspired by love and goofing off. The ease of Flash allowed anyone and everyone to try out there creative muscles. Its something that just cant be said the same of on todays internet.
Of course there were more then just animations, but games and websites get the spotlight most of the time when it comes to flash, I wanted to single out and give Flash animations the time and recognition they deserved too. You can, and you absolutely should still animate today. But Ill forever miss when flash was what the internet ran on. Thanks so much for watching :3

genuinely, this video is making me tear up and i'm not even finished with it yet. despite growing up in the late 2000s and early 2010s, i still had a blast watching flash animations and this video just brought up a well of nostalgia in me that i can't even put into words. thank you, bjiru.

Flash games get talked about all the time though, So I wanted to make a bit of a homage to the animations as well, because they are just as important too to me.
Fun fact: this platform we are on used to be a flash website also.
Eddsworld and Homestar Runner are my favorites, along with BFDI (while being not mentioned and also a flash animation)

I feel like BFDI was the series that kinda killed the Newgrounds age.
Newgrounds was still popular when BFDI came out in 2010, but almost every popular indie animated series was moving to RUclips by that time.

Flash animations hold such a special place in my heart. Newgrounds still rocks, not as hard as it used to for sure, but the spirit is still there. Such a different time though, that web era has moved on and I can't say that I'm happy with its 2.0 version. Two very different worlds.

iirc, asdfmovie was the first flash animation i ever watched! i wasnt super into the youtube scene when i was younger because i was a sheltered little baby who was only allowed on like. purble place and buildabearville (probably for the best lmao). i was on a trip to washington dc in 5th grade and we had stopped to get pizza, and some of my friends were watching it on their phone. when we got home, i think i watched the series up to that point (i think it was still just 9 or 10 at the time) and fell in love. i can still quote a majority of the early series from memory lolz. eddsworld was also a super big part of my life, though i didn’t get into it until much much later in middle school :3
I don't think eddsworld was before your time since the series didn't get a much larger audience until around the legacy era mainly 2014 2015 2016 ish
And even then it's only in it's peak popularity rn with 2 million views in the last 3.5 years compared to the first decade of the channel it took to reach 1 mil
Forestfire101 has a super interesting history. They’ve gone from live action zombie videos to stop motion animations where LEGO Batman gets his face ripped off. They could actually warrant their own video.

My elementary school class would crowd around the one computer in the classroom to watch albino black sheep videos during break. The llama song was the class fave. RUclips hadnt happened yet. Times were simpler then.

Well.... Not as much people watched the show until BFB came out. Plus, the series didn't had its prime until that season. (Even if the show has been getting less relevant after 2021...)
But then again, I wouldn't worry about it much since this video is related to webtoons that are no longer as popular as they were back then.

It’s the creepy, unsettling vids from back in the day that had me encapsulated as well, idk what it is, it’s so scary but it’s so Intriguing at the same time, things like username 666 and the mascot dudes with the dude eating soup, good times

The dude who did the Duck Song also did those legendary Lego Batman videos. Kinda nuts one dude is behind 2 of the most iconic vintage RUclips series that no one would ever associate with each other lol
bro yeahh!! one particular day after watching a lego batman video I decided to open forestfire101's channel and organize by popular to see more lego videos, almost fell off my chair when duck song appeared
also animated the mv for the yfm song “we like them girls” which is pretty cool.

Bjiru back with yet another knock out of the park! Really felt this one too, as I grew up prime time for these nostalgic masterpieces.
Personally when I grew up, I was a big fan of Lasse Gjertsen. A lot of his content is removed now, but his main hitters are still up on his channel, like "Rødmaling" or "Fotball NM '97". They are Norwegian, but there are subtitles. Would recommend checking it out so you might get a little peak into other cultures on early RUclips :)

My uncle once gifted me a Happy Tree Friends DVD when I was a kid. I got fucking GOT. I remember watching a clip where the blue moose cut his own head off somehow and he just fucking screams in pain and I swear I was haunted by that as a nightmare for the following 4 years.

if you grew up knowing the ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny, but don't know much about neil cicierega, i HIGHLY recommend that you investigate what this man has done for the internet. in addition to the ultimate showdown and potter puppet pals and gravity falls (including a scrapped song for bill cipher, he also made the mouth albums, animutations, two trucks, brodyquest, and so much more that i can't even list off in a single comment. everything on the internet connects back to neil cicierega, i guarantee you know at least one thing he did, even if you don't know it.
